Abortion has been one of the hottest debates for many years now. Abortion is the process of taking the life of an innocent unborn child resting harmlessly in their mother's womb. Abortion is known to be a sensitive topic, but like the conservative political commentator Ben Shapiro said, “Facts don't care about your feelings” (qtd. in Berrien). Pro-choice supporters deny the facts that abortion is wrong and disgusting. Abortion is an evil act and it should be made illegal. The most controversial parts of the abortion debate is when life actually begins. A human life begins at the moment of conception. Biologically, the baby has life because of the growth that is occuring. A policy has been made by the Department of Health and Human …show more content…
Abortion does not only kill babies, it kills them painfully. The baby has enough spinal reflexes, in just two months where it can feel pain. The baby will try to position its body away from these vicious tools trying to take its life. In some cases, the baby will open its mouth and try its best to scream in pain. During the abortion process, anesthesia is given to not only the mother, but also the baby. This was made a requirement by the Fetal Pain Prevention Act of 1998 (Fact #13). If someone was trying to kill one all of a sudden one that would be called, murder. If it happens to a baby in the womb, it is also murder. It is not magically a right that the mother has. It does not matter whether the person is 8 weeks old or 64 years old. Killing another human is murder regardless. Over one million innocent babies have their lives taken away from them every year. The most common reasons these mothers give for having an abortion is because they simply just do not want a baby. These mothers decide to take another life, because they do not want to take the responsibility. It does not matter if it was a mistake or not. Abortion is not a contraception. Pregnancy is a risk taken when one decides to have sexual intercourse (Pamf). It is a known fact that most contraceptives do not work one hundred percent of the time. Why are the babies being the ones punished? It is not the baby's fault that the parents are selfish human beings that do want to
One of the most controversial topics over the years, and still today, is abortion. Is abortion murder or not? When does a fetus become a human? There are no answers to these questions. Everyone individual has their own beliefs on whether or not abortion is justifiable. Abortions have been performed throughout many of centuries. Recently, there has been a number of court cases that has changed the legality of abortions, especially in the United States, for example Roe v. Wade. Even religions have changed their views on abortions over the course of the years. In the abortions wars there are two parties, pro-life and pro-choice. Pro-life believes that abortion is murder and is completely immoral. Pro-choice,
Abortion: the controversy-packed topic that can provoke the most vicious altercations between the two opposing sides. The views of abortion divide into two main categories: pro-choice and pro-life. These groups can go at eachother’s throats with no end, constantly throwing new arguments at each other. Many people feel very strongly one way on the topic, and are some individuals too stubborn to consider anything other opinion. The two opposite views seem to boil down to many as either the undeveloped fetus is innocent or the mother has the right to chose what to do with her own body.
Abortion is a conversational act that no one can seem to agree upon the long going argument dates to 1973 when “US Supreme Court’s 7-2 decision on Roe v. Wade declared the procedure a "fundamental right" (procon.org). Across America, the topic of abortion is still something that is regarded as taboo to speak about. Even today where it is more commonly brought up, the stigma surrounding the medical procedure has not gone away. There’s a rift between those who are pro-life and pro-choice, and each group has their own reasoning why or why not abortion should or should not be criminalized. The controversy about abortion is mainly rooted in the pro-life group believing that a fetus has the same rights as a born child and the mother. This stems into our government as well, where we have staunch republicans and democrats arguing back and forth over abortion. This also includes people who are incredibly religious and believe that it would go against Gods wishes, as humans are made in his image. Those who are pro-choice believe safe, legal abortions are a right and should be a readily available option to any woman who chooses to have one, no matter the circumstance. Abortion should be an option and that it should be a woman’s right whether to get one, and that she should be the only one to make that decision, not the government. There are many reasons why abortions should be an option, and some of those reasons are that they would help end surprise and unwanted pregnancy, end
Abortion is the ending of pregnancy before birth and is morally wrong. An abortion results in the death of an embryo or a fetus. Abortion destroys the lives of helpless, innocent children and is illegal in many countries. By aborting these unborn infants, humans are hurting themselves; they are not allowing themselves to meet these new identities and unique personalities. Abortion is very simply wrong. Everyone is raised knowing the difference between right and wrong. Murder is wrong, so why is not abortion? People argue that it is not murder if the child is unborn. Abortion is murder since the fetus being destroyed is living, breathing and moving. Why is it that if an infant is destroyed a month before the birth, there is no problem,
Today in America, candidates rival one another to find the answer that will appease to American citizens in many different political discussions. One of the political discussions they struggle to face is abortion. The center of an abortion argument lies simply in the understanding of what defines life or when life begins. Abortion is the allotment of killing an unwanted baby, which is imprecise. There are many different ways that people perceive life. Many topics such as, birth control, pro-life, pro-choice, and rape, go along with abortion. Pro-life is the best choice in an abortion argument, which is believing that the baby has a right to live.
Approximately 1.6 million murders are committed legally each year. While the mutilated bodies of the victims lay waiting in infested dumpsters to be hauled off to a landfill, the murderers are in their offices waiting for their next patient. This is the murder of an innocent child by a procedure known as abortion. Abortion stops the beating of an innocent child’s heart. People must no longer ignore the scientific evidence that life begins at the moment of conception. People can no longer ignore the medical and emotional problems an abortion causes women. People must stop denying the facts about the procedure, and start hearing the silent screams of unborn children. The argument by the pro-abortion
The topic of abortion is one of the most controversial and sensitive for the society and myself. The debates and confrontations between two opposite groups of opinion are long and sometimes even brutal. Both sides have strong supporting arguments: pro-lifers base on moral principals, which is life before birth, while pro-choicers defend political and social rights, such as right to privacy and right of choice. Neither side can be absolutely right or wrong; basically it is a matter of personal opinion. Mine is that although the abortion is originally wrong, in many cases it must be a legal option.
When it comes to abortion, everyone has a slightly different view. Whether one believes that no one, or everyone, should be allowed to get an abortion, the same question comes into play: Is abortion ethical? In addition, when does a human life actually start? Without concrete facts, we can only do so much with those questions, which is why this is such a controversial topic. We need to consider all the facts and information available. For example, whether or not a fetus feels pain, how old the fetus is, and what condition the pregnant woman is in. The main argument comes down to pro-life versus pro-choice. After doing extensive research, I have come to agree with the side of pro-choice, meaning that
Out of the many reasons why abortion is wrong, is that it is considered brutal murder. In 1982, Ronald Reagan stated: "Simple morality dictates that unless and until someone can prove the unborn human is not alive, we must give it the benefit of the doubt and assume it is (alive). And, thus, it should be entitled to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" (Unkown). You are taking a life and killing a human being. The baby is alive and not just some 'group of cells' as abortion doctors call them. You are painfully putting a human being to death. It is wrong to think someone has the power to end a life so harmfully. That is something that most criminals do not even have to suffer through. Are we (as human beings) really so stubborn and idiotic to evolve the death sentence so that rapist and murders do not feel pain when they die all because they are alive, yet when it comes to an unborn human it suddenly no longer matters? Thomas Jefferson stated the most fundamental principle of our developing nation when he wrote in the nation’s first document, the Declaration of Independence, that we were all created equal and endowed with certain unalienable rights and that among these rights was life. Who should be able to take that right away simply because someone made a mistake and does not want to pay the consequences for their actions?
The unborn being dependent on the mother for nine months, does not give anyone the right to end its life. Abortion kills the unborn baby by expulsion of the fetus that is said to be incapable of survival. Thus killing a helpless baby who has not yet had the chance to live and function as a human being. The procedure of abortion is very gruesome and if many people knew what happens to the baby they would consider it murder.
Abortion is one of the most controversial debate in the world today. The reason that this is such a hard topic to solve is because of one simple question. When does life begin? The answer to that question would end the debate of whether abortion should be considered murder or not. Viability is currently the legal determining factor of when life begins. However, a baby shows signs of life even before it is viable outside of the womb.
Abortion is made to terminate a pregnancy and the word terminate means to make an end, to cease, and to kill. Ask yourself this, when a pregnant woman is killed and the baby dies too then why do they call it a double homicide? So now a baby is only a human being when women get to choose? It is simply selfishness and it is the cruelest kind of thing to partake in. It is an execution of the innocent, it is biblically wrong and conflicts with the child’s inalienable rights to life, it causes a staggering amount of deaths from child to mother and it prevents an unborn child a chance at life. Everyone should be able to choose their fate, but not giving the baby a chance because a women is not ready to be a mother is conceited and instead she shall be put to death instead. John 10:10 says “ A thief comes to steal and kill and destroy”(NKJ) Any women who commits abortion is a thief who takes a life from the innocent and destroys any chance of a living being making it in the world. Abortion is a
An unborn child is always innocent and should never be punished or be deprived of life. The child is still alive in the mother's womb when having an abortion. When having an abortion you cannot go back to change your decision, like you can if you put it up for adoption (American Adoptions). A baby does not deserve to be killed. The fetus may not be fully formed, but is still able to feel pain. If you were to ask an unborn fetus if he/she thought of the idea of being murdered i'm sure it would tell you to at least tell you to wait till it can defend itself. You decided to make the baby, you should take care of it. If you did not want a baby then you should have used protection. Nearly 1,500 of the 19,000 girls under 18 had an abortion last year had previously had an earlier abortion for an unwanted pregnancy, and at least one teenage girl had her eighth abortion
The first and most widely spoken argument against abortion is that life begins at conception. At conception, the embryo begins to develop into a human being and therefore qualifies as a life. In fact, there have been several prominent scientists that have testified in court that life begins at conception.
Abortion has always been an incredibly controversial topic. It has been one of the most widely discussed issues in the American culture for decades. Abortion is a discussion of human interaction, in which emotions, ethics, and law all come together. In many cases, people on both sides of the argument have valid points and take moral positions. A pro-choice position would assert that the decision to terminate a pregnancy lies the mother and that the government has no right to interfere or step in and make that decision. On the other hand, the position of pro-life advocates argue that life begins at the moment of conception. They believe that because the embryo or fetus is a human life and that one has no moral right to abort it. This theory argues that this human has no power or say in the matter and is rendered helpless from advocating for itself. Although abortion is a morally and emotionally charged issues, it is ultimately protected under the 14th amendment. The most common reasons for abortion include but are not limited to, teen pregnancy, rape, and health issues.
