The civil rights movement occurred between mid- 1950s to late 1960s to achieve civil rights, equal opportunity in employment, housing, and education, as well a right to vote, and public facilities. In 1909, the NAACP had the most influence to fight for equality for colored people. Another group that believed in fighting for African American rights were the “Black Panthers” as known as the Black Power movement. During the 1930s the Great depression left America with many problems like rising poverty levels, unemployment, and bank closures. With America in a turmoil, Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Lyndon B. Johnson created similar ideas to help change and improve America. With the idea of “making America great again,” The Great society and the New Deal were created in resemblance to one another with their origins, goals, and impacts. The New deal and the Great society had originated from similar ideas.

The Square Deal created by Theodore Roosevelt to help the working class and deplete the power of the corporations and big business. It’s 3 basic goals were to conserve natural resources, control corporations and protect the consumer. He also formed the Department of Commerce and Labor to help out the workers.
