Apollonius Perga

Sophocles was born around 496 B.C. In Athens, Greece. Due to the fact that his father was a wealthy merchant, Sophocles had an excellent education. He was elected twice to become a high ranking military officer. He then died around 406 B.C.

One of the most underestimated traits of Apollo was his healing powers, in which he helped out many Greeks in desperate times, like the Trojan War (Cartwright). The Greek God Apollo was the most influential among Greek people because of his recognition for music, the truth, and healing powers.

Perseus was one of the great heroes of classical mythology. He was the son of jupiter and Danae, and is best known for his killing of Medusa. He was aided in killing Medusa by Pluto, Mercury and Minerva. Pluto lent him his invisible helmet, Mercury lent him his flying shoes and Minerva lent him her shield. With these three items, Perseus was able to kill Medusa successfully. Perseus then flew until he spotted Andromeda, who was chained as a sacrifice

Perseus son of Danae and Zeus, was thrown into the ocean while locked in a chest at birth by his grandfather because of a prophecy. Later found by a fisherman named Dictys who raised Perseus with Danae. The ruler of the land Polydectes was the brothe of Dictys and wanted Danae, so he told Perseus that he wanted a gorgon head. Perseus went on a long journey trying to find a gorgon. Athena and Hermes help find the gorgons and give Perseus the Equipment to kill a gorgon. Perseus travels back home to Polydectes after killing Medusa and shows everyone Medusa's head. Turning everyone into stone. Later he finds his mom and they go back to his grandfather. Perseus kills his grandfather afterward.

Greek and Roman mythology had various writers that greatly contributed to the form of literature. Of course, one of the most important myth writers of Greece includes Homer, who wrote two of the oldest pieces of Greek literary works; the Iliad and the Odyssey.Hesoid is credited to have written the Theogony which describes and explains the universe according to Grecian myth. Pindar, another Greek poet, and possibly the greatest of them all wrote countless Odes to glorify the champions of Greece. Aeschyluse an ancient Greek tragedian is recognized for his mythological based plays along with the writers Sophocles and Euripides.

Zeus had a son named Perseus, this story is about him, although he was the son of Zeus. He was just a demigod (half human half god). which meant that he can die like any other legend mortal. So is all started when he and his mother were in a coffin in the middle of the ocean, unfortunately his mother did not make it but he did because he is a demigod. Perseus was just a baby so he did not know Danae his mother, the coffin was out for a some time then a fishing boat stumbled upon the coffin.

Johannes Kepler (1571-1630) was a German astronomer who believed in the heliocentric theory. Kepler is a clear example of the narrow line that separated science and religion. Nonetheless, his ideas would show that things could be solved through reason alone. He believed that the harmony of the human soul could be found through numerical relationships that existed between planets. He found that the planets: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Uranus, Jupiter, and Saturn all revolved at different times. For example, the earth revolved around the sun in a year while Saturn revolved around the sun in fifty years. From this, Kepler found a mathematical ratio, nine to the two-thirds power, to explain this phenomenon. This was revolutionary to humanity’s place in the universe. During this time period, Ptolemy’s geocentric theory of the solar system was accepted. Ptolemy’s theory stated that Earth is at the center of the universe and stationary; closest to Earth is the Moon, and beyond it, expanding towards the outside, are Mercury, Venus, and the Sun in a straight line, followed by Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, and the “fixed stars”. Porphyry was born in AD 233. He is Phoenician Neo-Platonism philosopher and mathematician. His parents are Greek. His last name is Malchus, it means king. Porphyry is his nickname. It was named by his Athens teacher Kassios Longinos. It means purple. Alluding to the king’s robe. Kassios also taught him rhetoric and grammar. Porphyry went to Rome in AD 262. He learned Neo-Platonism from Plotinos for six years. When Plotinos died, Porphyry helped his teacher Plotinos sort out his works, and wrote a biography of Plotinus. He also has a very important position in the history of mathematics because of his Greek book “Pythagoras life” and comments on Euclid’s “Elements”. His “Introduction to Aristotle Category articles” has been used as a standard textbook logic after his death in a thousand years. In his later years, he married Marcella who is a widow with seven children, she is an enthusiastic of philosophy.
