How did the change in time period, technological advancements, and overall lifestyle affect man’s view of man? In the 1400’s, the Middle Ages had ended and the Renaissance was just beginning. During the Middle Ages, the church held most of the power, giving people few rights. This and many other things changed during the Renaissance that lasted for about 250 years. The Renaissance affected how man viewed itself. Man’s view of man was changed during the Renaissance by art, literature, and science/astronomy.

In Document C, it shows the Geocentric Universe of Ptolemy compared to the Heliocentric Universe of Copernicus. In Ptolemy’s model, the Earth is the center of the universe and everything revolves around it. In Copernicus’s model, the sun is at the center of the universe, so everything revolves around the sun. Ptolemy’s model represents man thinking that he is superior and godly in the Middle Ages. However, Copernicus proved this to be wrong because his model represents the Renaissance in that man realized that God is superior, not man. Document D shows the human anatomy, one from Johann Regiomontanus of the Middle Ages, and the other from Andreas Vesalius of the Renaissance. Regiomontanus’s anatomy showed that each zodiac sign governed a part of the body. Vesalius’s anatomy was based on the research he had done by dissecting human corpses. Johann Regiomontanus’s human anatomy represents how the people of the Middle Ages were less educated due to the fact that he constructed his anatomy based solely on a theory he had. On the other hand, Vesalius’s human anatomy was constructed through his actual experiments and it represents the people of the Renaissance hinting that they were smarter.
