The Interesting Works of Anthony Browne Anthony Edward Tudor Browne is an author and illustrator who was born in Sheffield, England on September 11, 1946. As a young boy Browne always loved to draw and would draw with his father Jack for hours at a time. He was always smaller than everyone else growing up, so to keep from getting bullied he played many different sports, which he was actually quite the athlete. He thought of himself as an unusual, shy, sensitive, but he was also very strong and confident. Browne would compare himself to gorillas and showed a great liking to these creatures. As he got older he actually used gorillas quite frequently or some sort of primate in his writings. Growing up his father Jack Browne had many different jobs because he was indecisive about what he wanted to do career wise. His mother Doris May was a homemaker, and he had a little brother named Michael. They had a wonderful childhood with two loving parents. One of his father’s many jobs and probably most consistent was the pub that he ran, and they actually lived right above. Browne as a young child would go into the pub and tell of stories of an alter ego he had made up called Big Dumb Tackle, who could …show more content…
Children do not always understand times how busy parents can be, and reading this book can help them to understand that parents will always fine time for their children no matter how busy they are. The wonderful illustrations in the story will have the children drawn in, and will help them to actually see how relatable to them it is. Browne is such a wonderful author and illustrator, even though he was not known to me until I did this presentation. I feel as if I need to open my own children’s eyes to his workings, and help them to love reading in general now. I am glad I chose this author and got to know his work, and hope to see more of his work throughout the

Henry Ossawa Tanner was an African-American male artist who was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on June 21, 1859. The son of a minister and a school teacher, Henry was the oldest of nine children. Tanner went to a school named Robert Vaux which was one of the few all-black institutions that offered art classes. At only 13 years old young Henry had already decided that he would become a painter, and as the years went by he created as much art as he could. It is said that he was able to work on his artistic skills because he was ill and had spent his time recuperating by staying at home and painting. ("Henry Ossawa Tanner." Bio.com)

In the modern world, children’s literature, fairy tales, and fiction books influence our childhood and early development. In the 1500’s and 1600’s no children’s literature for entertainment existed, they had educational books. As babies, toddlers, and preschoolers, my parents and teachers read us books after books. It is proven that reading to young kids is important for their imagination, vocabulary, and communication skills in early life.

The relationship between the two fathers and the two sons is a very important theme in this book. Because of their different backgrounds, Reb Saunders and David Malters approached raising a child from two totally different perspectives.
Murray Bowen’s theory of family systems therapy developed as a result of his study of schizophrenic patients. Early in his career, Bowen researched the symbiotic relationship between a mother and child in an effort to discover the possible patterned “causes” of schizophrenia. Bowen quickly concluded that several outside factors may contribute to a family member’s mental illness, and began calling for entire family systems to be treated. This idea led Bowen to develop the concepts of “differentiation of self” and “triangulation”(Nichols 2017, p.19).
Children’s literature is the precedent for the development of all children. Children’s literature varies from poetry to children’s picture books. Every aspect of children’s literature gives an ability to grow a child mentally and develop their ideas and imagination. In early literature, children were romanized to be perfect and well behaved. Author Maurice Sendak counters the idea of a perfect child in his book “Where The Wild Things Are”. Sendak uses his picture book to illustrate a child’s ability to have feelings of anger, resentment, and frustration. The interviewer, Patrick F. Roughen of Red Feather Journal states that“Where the Wild Things Are (1963) contains some of the earliest attempts in children’s literature to represent the intrapsychic challenges of the lives of children. Anger, frustration, and the complexities of parent-child relationships can be found throughout its pages”. “Where the Wild Things Are” reinforces the idea that children are capable of emotions that one would imagine are only depicted in the adult world.
This book appeals to the child in all of us because we can all remember a time we'd like to go back to; a time when making our beds was our greatest responsibility and life was something we took for
Furthermore, the illustrations paint a beautiful picture that I like to think is an insight into a child’s mind, which I is a key element in this book and what makes it so great. Since the book is narrated by a child the intentional simplicity of the words and the controlled chaos that is the illustrations breathes unadulterated life into a rather normal children’s book.
This charming story reverses the typical roles within a children’s book. With underlying issues of stereotypes, independence and empowerment, it fills children with imagination and teaches them the importance of being strong, smart, and the realization that beauty comes from within.
I agree whole-heartedly with the conclusions that she drew from her observations. It is very hard to get the whole “picture” from a children’s storybook that has no pictures. The children find it harder to identify with the characters and often find
The book is intended to bring adults to the same level as the children, and children to the same level of adults. This is expected to be the happy meeting ground where both can feel comfortable and non-threatened by each other. Adults can use these methods in the book to improve the daily quality of their relationships and interactions with children. It will also bring about more cooperation from children without arguing, yelling, or having to punish the children. It also guides you against turning a simple conversation into an argument and making the time you spend with a child more enjoyable for both of you.
This is a book about love -- not only human love for an animal, but the love of a parent for a child, a man for his home, and a special love between two animals. There is security in this atmosphere of love.
