Anne Frank: War's Effect On The Community

Jews have perished because of their beliefs since the beginning of time but never have so many Jews been persecuted worldwide as they were in World War II. Anne Frank’s diary reaches a place within all of our hearts because it reminds us how easily the innocents can suffer. Sometimes we may choose to close our eyes or look the other way when unjustifiable things happen in our society and Anne’s tale reminds us that ignorance, in part, claimed her life. Sadly, her story is but one of many of those who died in the Holocaust and as with other Jews, her fate was determined by the country she lived in, her sex and her age.

On January 30, 1939 Adolf Hitler addressed the German Reichstag stating, “If the international Jewish financiers in and outside Europe should succeed in plunging the nations once more into a world war, then the result will not be the Bolshevization of the earth, and thus the victory of Jewry, but the annihilation of the Jewish race in Europe!” Hitler had believed that the Jewish people throughout Europe were enemies of his people in Germany. The best way to stop this was to wipe out the population of Jews throughout Germany, as he established over 40,000 concentration camps killing many of the Jews who went there. One of those Jewish people who went to a concentration camp was 15 year-old Anne Frank who wrote about her struggles in her diary writing, “I can shake off everything as I write; my sorrows disappear, my courage is reborn.” Frank died in Auschwitz believed from typhus a disease that is transported by lice, ticks, mites, and rat fleas giving the person a purple rash, headaches, and a high fever. Her disease gives us now the feeling of how these concentration camps were. Upon arrival at the camps the enslaved prisoners of war would receive their prisoner uniforms with their serial number along with a tattoo of their same serial number. However, the prisoners that were instructed to go into a gas chamber which killed them instantly were not marked and not seemed important. As today’s teenagers connect less and less to the past and its lessons, it is necessary to reflect on the commonalities that our generation has with past generations like Anne Frank’s because we are more alike than it seems. Anne Frank went through many of our present-day problems that teens today face every day.

The lives of many dead people make few turn to riches. Although WWII was a time of survival for many American Citizens, the life story of other leaders and casualties demonstrate how life will never be the same.

Anne Frank, one of the most discussed Jewish victims of the Holocaust gained fame after the publication of The Diary of a Young Girl. She documents her life in hiding during the German occupation of the Netherlands in World War II. She once said, “If we bear all this suffering and if there are still Jews left, when it is over, then Jews, instead of being doomed, will be held up as an example.” Life in the concentration camps was worse for Jewish women than it was for men. They faced even more difficulty and were being treated more cruelly. During the Holocaust, the government frequently subjected women, both Jewish and non-Jewish, to brutal persecution that was sometimes unique to the gender of the victims. Women had to go to drastic measures to survive while incarcerated. Nazi’s ideology was called the “Final Solution”, this was the complete annihilation of all Jews. All of this made the Holocaust brutal for women.

The Holocaust is one of the most heinous acts that soils history with the millions of innocent lives who perished because of the hatred of Hitler and his Nazi party. Anne Frank was a young Jewish girl who together with her parents and older sister, managed to avoid being captured by the Gestapo by hiding in a secret annex along with another family. This research paper will explore the life of Anne Frank once she and her family are discovered by the Gestapo in August, 1944.

The ability to analyze and depict the elements that are portrayed in an image is a skill that is practical to own. In your educational career, throughout most subjects you are given hundreds of images to look at. Some are simple and straightforward, and others have a much more deeper meaning to what is really going on. Having the skill to analyze an image and depict all the elements gives you a clearer and broader sense of what is going on. For example the image I have chosen to analyze is of a young jewish girl by the name of Anne Frank who wrote a diary about hiding with her family in Amsterdam during World War II.

Anne Frank impacted many people. She has a very unique personality. I think she inspired many people because she never gave up and she was always positive. Also, she always was happy and always wanted to play around because her life was in risk and can end anytime during the Holocaust.

In 1929 on June 12th a girl named Anneliese Marie Frank to Otto and Edith Frank who were Jews. During this time the world was still recovering from World War 1, but in the future, we would be brought back into that terrible time only to face another tragedy. Nearly 4 years after Anne was born, the Nazi Party began to effect Germany in which was the place Anne lived at the time, however she moved to Amsterdam in 1944 along with her family. As this took place what was Anne Frank personality like and did it change throughout the period when she was confined to her family's hiding location in 1942?

From January 30th, 1933 to May 8th, 1945 is how long the Holocaust lasted. During the time six million innocent Jews lost their lives! People had to hide, run, die, get hurt and so much more. In the story Anne Frank and her family had to go into hiding with a family called the Van Daans and another man named Mr. Dussel. They were up in a small place for 25 months hiding from the Nazis. Events outside caused them to change the way they act to each other. They became more stressed each day.

The story The Diary of Anne Frank is about a young jewish girl and her family going into hiding from the Nazis in the 1940s. Throughout the time in the attic where they are hiding, the characters learn many new things and face new challenges. The story is based off of a real diary that the main character, Anne Frank, kept at the time they were hiding. The story has been around for many years, and has even been made into movies and plays. Historical events are reflected in the play The Diary of Anne Frank by showing the characters thoughts, actions, and feelings.

Based on my experience, I believe that Mr. Godinez should use “Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl”, to teach the eighth grade students next year about WWII. Although we had just read the diary in class, I recall hearing about the diary and the war earlier. Nevertheless, as we continued the diary, I could still remember all the long nights I sat across my floor, reading the addictive artifact on my iPad. Sometimes when I would get sidetracked, I would reflect and ask myself “what would you do?”. Well, I would imagine myself in Anne's shoes, living with 8 people in the attic/ annex, with no place to go, having to keep quiet for hours on end and write in a diary, I had received for my thirteenth birthday!
