Anne Frank Quote Analysis

In “The Diary of Anne Frank” there are many different objects and people that are symbolic to something abstract. One example of symbolism in Anne’s diary is when her and Peter have a discussion about the star of David. In the play and throughout World War II the star of David symbolizes a deep hatred. It represents a deep hatred because during the time of WWII with the Jews getting murdered and sent to concentration camps they were forced to wear garments with the star sewn onto them. Anne records, “You can’t throw…? Something they branded you with…? That they made you wear so they could spit on you” (Pg 709 P.22). Anne Frank was a young girl who lived during the holocaust who lived during Hitler’s reign in Amsterdam. Only one problem: She was Jewish. In July of 1942, Margot Frank was called to report to a concentration camp. The Franks were forced into hiding in an annex behind Mr. Frank’s business. The Franks, along with the Van Pels and Mr. Pfeffer, hid in the annex for about two years. During her time in hiding, Anne confided in a diary. In her diary, she wrote “Despite everything, I believe people are really good at heart.” I agree with Anne. In my opinion, everyone is good at heart; they just show it in different ways. People do what they think is right. Even though there is evil in the world, I believe that deep down, everyone is good at heart.

Anne Frank utilizes her profound gift of words to create multiple tones and moods within her diary. As well as a multitude of metaphors and similes that help depict her emotions and circumstances. An instance of this is shown when Anne describes how it is living in hiding, “ I see the eight of us in the Annex as if we were a patch of blue sky surrounded by menacing black clouds...We’re surrounded by darkness and danger, and in our desperate search for a way out we keep bumping into each other.” (Frank 145). Within this passage, Anne’s use of metaphors is brought to reality. In addition, it is noted that Anne also uses many descriptive words that succeed in illustrating the dark mood she was hoping to portray. Given these points, we can observe

The holocaust was a horrible time in people's lives and it killed six million people. Even though this happened to so many people Anne Frank was someone that so many people look up to because of her diary that she wrote during this time. Anne Frank, her family, and the Van Danns all spent 25 months in the secret annex. Dussel was someone that came in later so it was very tight for 8 people to be living under certain circumstances for that long. They hoped to stay hidden until they were liberated but they were caught and sadly the only one that lived through the concentration camps was Mr.Frank. Many historical events took place in Anne Frank. Even though most of these things occurred while they were in hiding, it still changed the characters mood and relationships.

Adept in writing, Anne Frank also exceeds in the articulation of her sentences. Never does she stray from the topic at hand nor create a sentence that doesn’t flow to another smoothly. Evidence of such writing lies in the following, “How noble and good everyone could be if, at the end of each day, they were to review their own behaviour and weigh up the rights and wrongs. They would automatically try to do better at the start of each new day and, after a while, would certainly accomplish a great deal.” (Frank 326). As shown, Frank’s words pertain to one another and transition effortlessly to guide her topic. Furthermore, proper separation is utilized as well as differing introductory words for each new thought; eliminating any chance of repetition

Who is the most phenomenal young woman in history? A girl, only 13 years of age, by the name of Anne Frank who was forced into hiding. Hiding was necessary because she was a Jew in the time of the World War 2. Going into hiding made her a fugitive. Anne Frank scurried into hiding, with her family, the day her sister, Margot received, a letter in the mail wanting her to report to a concentration camp.

Well Anne Frank was in hiding since she was 13 until she was 15 then it is believed that Lee Ashlers knew were the Franks were hiding and this is who is believed to have snitched on them. Which is said to be confirmed by his 82 year old brother Cas Ashlers. Anne has a famous quote which is “In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart.” Personally I agree with Anne’s famous quote yet, I can see why people can be on the side of disagreement because of Mr. Van pels(Dann) actions as well as Mr.Pfeffer (Dussel).

The quote that Anne states in her diary on July 1944 was, “In spite of everything, I still believe people are good at heart”, was a way for Anne to show what she was really made up of on the inside. Anne is a really kind person in her heart. Anne is also a very caring person because of some of the things she does such as give presents. Anne tries to stay positive in every situation that she can, even when things get bad. And that is why I think Anne thought of that quote while writing in her diary about daily events that happened before and while in the secret annex.

Anne Frank died, but she has left a very inspirational legacy behind. During her life, Anne was a very optimistic person. She loved to think of the best things in life. She was very caring too, comforting people when they were down. Her feelings about some people and some situations changed at times, but she has always felt the same about one thing. Anne believed that people are really good at heart because she is a kind and caring individual. Why would she think this way in that situation? What does this say about her as a person?

Anne Frank stated in her diary that “In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart.” This quote goes to show how optimistic she really was. She hoped that underneath all of the hatred that not only the Nazis beheld, but perhaps also the people that she was hiding with for years, there was at least a small amount of good in them. Personally, I have no clue how she could think that such horrible people are actually good at heart, but her personality definitely reflected it. In addition to this quote indicating that she was optimistic, it suggests that she had hope. She most likely was aware that the Nazi’s were not good at heart, but she refused to take that as a fact, and she wanted to make herself think otherwise.

Right through the ages there have been Jews, through all the ages they have had to suffer, but it has made them strong too; the weak fall, but the strong will remain and never go under.” Page 207. This quote reveals this book’s central message. Anne Frank is your average Jewish 13 year old girl and has loving parents and sister. Yet, when the Nazis invade the Netherlands her family is forced into hiding. In Lesson 1 Video, at 2:38, I talk to the students about the Diary of Anne Frank where they inform me that they read have read this text in their previous middle school years. However, it is a requirement for the students to read it again in the 8th grade. I inform them that we will be reading the play version.
