Anne Bonny's Life Story

She took the king’s pardon and a commision to privateer, until that ended with her joining the crew in mutiny. In 1720 she joined John Rackham and his companion, the female pirate Anne Bonny, who both believed that she was a man. Read’s gender was revealed when Bonny told Read that she was a woman, apparently because Bonny was attracted to her because she thought Read was a man. Releasing this, Read revealed that she was to a woman. However, Bonny’s lover, Racham, did not know this and suspected romantic involvement between the two of them.

Like her dad, John Cotton was threatened with imprisonment to he fled to the Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1633. Anne and her husband later followed him in 1634.
