Animal Testing: The Negative Influence Of Testing On Animals

For a long time, the world considered animal testing as an essential part for finding medical cures and for creating cosmetics. Without observing it from different aspects, people are not aware that these testing are: cruel and inhumane and they waste a lot of government money and resources. Also, there are other alternative options that can replace all the experiments that are conducted on animals. Thus, animal testing is immoral and it should be banned.

There are so many products being tested on animals , from being lipsticks, shampoos, makeup, skin care etc. But have you ever wondered the side effects these animals experience while using these products? They will experience Burning, torturing, pain, hunger, thirst etc. How is living in a cage living? It's not it is just surviving.

Animal testing is a cruel way to try and develop new products. There are several other and much safer options that will get better results and potentially save up to two million animals every single year. The Animal Welfare Act is in place but only minimally protects certain animals and leaves many others, up to 95%, vulnerable to atrocious fates. The animals not protected by this act (mostly small or considered house pets) are most widely used and not related closely to humans. There are several alternative methods but they are being neglected since they are new and not being enforced because of it. A few countries and states have banned certain aspect of animal testing but others are encouraging this cruelty.

Although many people agree with testing products on animals, they ask ‘Who else are we going to test our products on?’ Nobody! Don’t add harsh chemicals in the products and then the animals and humans are both healthier. Beyond millions of animals that die and are captured every year just from animal testing alone. Treating an animal cruelty is never okay, especially when they’re torturing the animals with harsh chemicals due to testing. If people would stand up and try to protect animals we’d be saving certain animals from becoming extinct and we’d also save a ton of money.

In this project ,my group members focus on the effect and alternatives of animal testing. Animal testing also known as animal experimentation or in-vivo research is the use of non-human animals in experiments, in other words, it is the procedure performed on living animals for purposes of research into basic biology and diseases. For example, test new medical products, to make sure it is safe for human use. There are many different species are used around the world, but the most common include mice, monkey, fish, rats, rabbits, hamsters, birds, cats, dogs. And farm animals,

Animal testing is morally wrong. Tests are done on monkeys, guinea pigs, mice, rabbits, cats, dogs, and many other animals. These animals are exposed to chemicals and are sometimes purposefully injured to observe recovery (if there is any). “9 out of 10 candidates that appear safe and effective in animal studies fail when given to humans”(About Animal Testing). These animals are put through terrible tests and awful living conditions, and despite the efforts, some are inaccurate. Scientists still conduct experiments partially because they get better pay that way (Starer). Using animals lives for human benefit and profit is cruel and cold-hearted.

Many of us are unaware of the sheer number of animals that undergo constant suffering in the name of human vanity. Animal testing was originally introduced in the early 20th century and is still prominent today. It is morally unacceptable to experiment on animals for human purposes. The procedures used in animal testing are cruel and inhumane, nor are they the most reliable source of data; resulting in many mishaps. Moreover, with the perpetual advancements in technology, there are several alternative methods making animal testing unnecessary. If testing cosmetics and drugs on humans is unacceptable, what makes it acceptable to test on animals?

Photos, websites, posters, and many more items have displayed the negative effects of medical testing on animals. Though, those websites and photos you see every day are not what testing on animals is really like. According to an article from Patricia George and Geraldine Wagner, over the last century and a half, more progress has been made in medical animal testing than in all previous years combined. Animals have actually benefited from the medications they were being tested on and although animal testing helps animals, it also helps humans in the process (2). Animal testing has cured many medical issues, but testing on animals is changing the viewpoint of people today. Because many diseases and cancers have been cured from animal testing, doctors should continue to medically test on animals, but should follow a set of strict rules to have the animals being tested on in healthy and good condition.

Some people argue against testing because it kills animals. Scientists hold them captive, experiment on them and then they kill them. However, scientists have had a lot of success in finding drugs that work on humans. The medications they have found have saved millions of lives, and we now have many vaccines to prevent people from getting sick and possibly dying. Animal testing should be allowed to continue because it is very beneficial to humans and has saved many lives.

On the other hand, according to research, animal testing can be beneficial because it can be very accurate, and its less painful for an animal than for a human. However, The positives for not using animal testing outweighs the negatives. Animal testing should be banned because animals are being taken away from there homes to be used for testing, research can be done effectively without harming an animal or human, animal research causes harm to the animal. The development of new treatments including medicines are distinguished for being time consuming, costly and complex. However, this timely manner is beneficial for society as it meant to provide an efficient and safe medication. Concerns regarding when animal studies are necessary compared to clinical trials has been a debatable topic among society. The creation of a new product, should not cause animals to suffer and die. Because humans want a new lip color or a new type of eyeliner, does not mean that numerous animals should be immensely tortured and at times to death. Many argue that in order to ensure the safety of a product, animal testing is necessary. However, in today’s scientific world, this is not true. Many people argue that animal testing is cheaper, but according to Consumers ' Research Magazine writer Beatrice Hunter, it costs 500,000 dollars per product to test something using animals, as opposed to alternatives, which cost on average 50 dollars per product.

The controversy behind animals as research subjects is mainly one of morals and the ethical treatment of said animals. Many people believe we should use them in this way, so we aren 't actually harming people in the pursuit for better things for humans. Though animal testing was a viable resource for many years, it has proven to be extremely controversial and unethical, therefor the use of animals as research subjects should be outlawed.

     Using Animals for testing is wrong and should be banned. They should be entitled to the rights we have. Every day humans are using defenseless animals for cruel and most often useless tests. The animals cannot fight for themselves therefore we must. There should be stronger laws to protect them from laboratory experiments.

Scientists should be allowed to test on animals with no restrictions because oddly enough it benefits animals more than it benefits humans. Even though it doesn’t seem like that would be true, it very much is. One of the best examples of how animal testing helped other animals was when scientists got together to do lab tests on animals and they ended up finding out how to stop rabies. Rabies is a terrible disease that animals normally get. The symptoms are foaming of the mouth, madness, convulsions, muscle aches, and it can be transmitted through to humans through a bite. Although this mainly affects animals and rarely humans the testing on the animals that found the vaccination was very good either way because if an animal has rabies and is
