Animal Farm Allegory For The Soviet Union Analysis

Decent Essays

Animal Farm is a skillfully written allegory for the rise and degredation of the Soviet Union. Not only that, but it goes further to describe the failings of Communism as an encompassing system of government and economics. The animals portrayed in the book even state the core tenent of their supposed free state to essentially be that of Communism as written by Karl Marx, "All shall work according to what he can produce". From here, it illustrates the political fued between Joseph Stalin and Leon Trotsky, and Trotsky's eventual exile by Stalin in the form of two pigs named Napoleon and Snowball. Over all, the entire book is an allegory for the Soviet Union and how communism as a system is doomed to fail.
