In the beginning of the Level Two course in the Health Careers Academy, my instructor assigned the senior projects for each group. My project is concerning animal abuse awareness and why it is an extensive issue in the world. Ever since my group and I have started volunteering in Rescue Oasis, I began to realize how many animal abuse cases are ignored and the horrors these animals are exposed to. This project has allowed me to focus on helping others rather than myself and to understand the necessity of volunteers in certain areas. I absolutely enjoy volunteering in Rescue Oasis and learning about the medications, the treatment methods, and the sanitation regulations; including playtime with the dogs! I wish I was more open to volunteering
The Spanish Conquer The conquer of the Aztec Empire is viewed as a bloody battle. The Aztec Empire had placed trust in the Spaniards, but were overthrown by their allies. The thought of greed and disbelief created the distrust. The three ways of success that contributed to the Spanish conquest of Aztec Empire in the early 1500s began with the trustworthy relationship between the two leaders Moctezuma and Cortez, the trust began to falter with the Spanish due to the thought of losing everything if the alliance diminishes, and then the defeat of the Aztec Empire was very brutal and savage.
Tyler Oquendo Mrs. Nidowicz English III Honors 29 October 2017 PSA Annotated Bibliography https://www.aspca.org/?pagename=cruelty_puppymills_statement The A.S.P.C.A is a animal society which fights for the prevention of animal cruelty, this includes dog fighting rings, puppy/animal mills, and general misuse to animals. They also aid in helping with natural disasters, poor counties/cities/families and neutering/spaying. The A.S.P.C.A commends to adopt a puppy from a local shelter than to buy one. This helps to prevent the profits gained from horrible and mistreated animals stuck in breeding operations and mills.
If I could volunteer with any organization in the world, I would volunteer at the Villalobos Rescue Center in New Orleans, Louisiana because I would like to become an advocate for pitbulls, work with the dogs, and help parolees transition back into society. I heard about Villalobos when I found the show Pitbulls and Parolees on the Discovery channel. Immediately, I was intrigued by the show and Tia Torres’, the founder of Villalobos, mission for the rescue organization. After watching a few episodes, I conducted some research about the organization and it was then that I knew that I would love to be part of the volunteer base at Villalobos.
The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) was the first human society to be established in North America and is, today, one of the largest in the world. Henry Bergh, a man of great conviction and a tireless fighter for animals founded the ASPCA on April 10, 1866. Mr. Bergh believed that all animals are entitled to being treated kindly and respectfully at the hands of humans and should be protected under the law. The ASPCA’s mission, as stated by founder Henry Bergh in 1866, is “to provide effective means for the prevention of cruelty to animals throughout the United States. (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals [ASPCA], 2014, About us section) When Mr. Bergh founded the ASPCA, he and his volunteers spent tireless hours fighting for the rights of
Over the summers of high school I have been a volunteer at the Cedar Valley Humane Society. My duties as a volunteer included cleaning up cages, kennels, floors, and dishes, as well as comforting and walking the animals. I have loved animals for as long as I remember, so it was very satisfying to be able to help out these animals in need. My favorite part was seeing how much their days were made just by getting some care and affection. Furthermore, I have just recently started volunteering at the Mercy Hospital. I think volunteering at the hospital will help expand my knowledge of health career jobs and medical terminology. I plan to volunteer a large amount of my time to help out the patients and staff at

Any form of abuse is difficult to overcome alone. Whether the abuse is happening to an animal or a person they all need someone to help them cope and heal. According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Abuse, about 20 people per minute are abused in the United States. Animal Abuse Statistics states that over one million animals fall into abusive hands each year, whether it be domestic abuse or laboratory killings. Peaceful Paws is a program that helps do just that. Through Peaceful Paws, people of all ages who have gone through abuse are encouraged and welcome to spend time in the facility with cats and dogs who have also been abused and neglected. This not only helps people who have been through abuse, but the animals as well. Through this program people may foster or adopt our pets which allows us to bring more pets into our facility and into the hearts of abuse victims. Peaceful
Thank you for taking the time to review my senior project: hosting an American Red Cross blood drive. I nearly chose to job shadow instead, but after taking some time to think about my main weaknesses, I decided that a blood drive would help me improve in these areas more than job shadowing. The main shortcoming I sought to improve was a general shyness around strangers; organizing a blood drive takes more planning and interaction with strangers than most job shadowing.
Animal Aid Unlimited recently rescued a dog who was near death after they found him wandering the streets.
The people know about Michael Vick that he was the quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles and played for 13 seasons in the National Football League (But there is another story that Michael Vick has been involved in dog fights and went to prison for the actions that committed). That does not cover on what had happened to the dogs,Donna Reynold’s had said in details that the swimming pool was used for kill some of the dogs as she continues, the people did not know how many suffered the permitted murder, but the damage of pool walls tells a story. Michael Vick did not just put dogs to fight, but he would hang, drown, shoot, repeatedly slamming their head and spine into the ground
One of my most significant 4-H projects was reserve supreme heifer in 2007. I chose this because this was the first year I had ever shown and this was the year I did the best. Showing cattle taught me how to be responsible. Without the responsibility of taking care of an animal I wouldn’t be able to remember all the homework I needed to do that night. Without this skill school would be a struggle and I would be stressed all the time knowing my grades weren’t the best. So I’m glad I have learned this skill because it helped shape me for the person I am today a very successful, responsible girl in the top 25 percent of my class. Once I had the feeling of responsibility it helped me decide that I wanted to help others and care for them just like how I took care of the cow. I love helping and caring for people and this project helped me decide that I wanted to be a nurse.
My friends and I were walking down a dark alley we heard screaming, fighting, and a lot of movement. When we looked in the alley all we saw was... If you are aggressive to the pets they will be aggressive back and will be worse for you because they can bite, scratch, or even make you bleed. Animals should not be kept in cages. When animals or pets are stuck in cages they don’t have fun in their life they don’t play, run and not even do anything in a little box. The only thing they can do with a little box is eat and drink water or milk. Imagine you were that animal kept away from your natural home used for money.
What is animal abuse? For starters, animal abuse is when a person inflicts suffering or harm on any animal. Most people, all over the world own an animal; but there are still far more animals left out on the street. Homeless animals are either left out on the streets or are “thrown” into shelters. This became a problem because not all animals are domesticated. Animal shelters began as pounds. “When the system began to be used to impound wandering dogs and cats, these animals were often killed because little monetary value was placed on them” (Lila Miller, Animal sheltering in the United States: Yesterday, today, and tomorrow, 1) . This issue persists because shelter workers and others truly believe that an animal life has no value, but that is not true; animals are living beings just like humans with brains, hearts, and bones. A reported case was that “authorities had seized 23 puppies, 11 cats, and four adult dogs from a self-processed animal “rescue” after they were found in the “rescuer’s” filthy home.” (‘No-Kill’ Label Slowly Killing Animals, 3). This means that an unauthorized person hoarded many animals and forced the animals into an unsafe “shelter”. The shelter being a dirty home.
Both my academic and professional experience provides me great confidence that I will be effective at this position. A solid educational foundation in Environmental Studies equipped me with the knowledge and the expertise to address environmental issues to the public.
Unfortunately today there are many cases of animal abuse happening around the world. Animal cruelty or animal abuse can be defined as the infliction of suffering or harm upon animals for purposes other than self-defense. There are many different types of abuse such as using animals for research, using animals for entertainment purposes, abandoning animals to shelters, and animal neglect. We need to raise awareness and find a solution to these issues. Animals are suffering and we need to help them.
