Christianity (Anglican)
Good morning Mr. Auclair and class. Today I’m going to be speaking about Anglicanism and the Church of England. What is Anglicanism you may ask to yourself?
Anglicanism is a form of Christianity, which practices their beliefs according to the Church of England. The word Anglican comes from the Latin word ecclesia Anglicana that means “English Church”. Anglicanism is a protestant form of Christianity. The main reason Anglicanism was created because during the mid 16th century the British in particularly did not like the pope. During that time everyone respected the pope and did whatever he said; it was very uncommon for anyone to not go by what the pope would say. The pope wanted to run the Church of England his way but the citizens did not. The pope was then ousted which cause a lot of controversy between the pope and Anglican people. In the 17th century the Church of England joined forces with the church of Ireland, which led to a large growth in Anglican population.
The Church of England is the leading Christian church in England. The Church of England was officially established as a Christian church in the mid 16th century. The Church of England was started in England obviously by the name of it.

Not only do the Anglicans believe in Jesus Christ they also read the bible and go by what is says. Fun fact; now a days many Anglicans think What would Jesus do? The Anglicans go off that question to know whether or not if something is right or wrong. The Anglicans believe that bread and wine symbolizes the body and blood of Christ. The Anglicans show this belief at “The Holy Communion”. The Holy Communion is an Anglican holiday of which the Anglicans chose to show their respect to Christ by eating bread and drinking wine. This holiday is more to show respect to what Jesus did rather than celebrate it. This shows remembrance to when Christ sacrificed his body so that the ones around him could eat and
Religious conflict in england, King Henry the VIII broke with the roman catholic church in the 1530’s, created the English protestant reformation.
The Church of England was created by Henry VIII in 1534 because he, like many people with authority, didn’t like others telling him what to believe. When the Pope didn’t let him divorce his first wife, he got mad and created a church much like the Catholic Church but with him as the head. It changed the way political, economic, religious and social ways were. Instead the pope
How did England become Protestant though? It all starts in 1485 when Henry the Tudor VII is defeated in the War of the Roses that followed the Hundred Year War so England is now broke because they lost the war. Henry the Tudor married Queen Elizabeth of York to unite the families. During his reign, he confiscates lands and gives it to other people; establishes trade, farming, and a navy. Henry the Tudor also marries his kids well. He marries Arthur to Catherine who is the daughter of Isabella Ferdinand who sent Christopher Columbus to explore and found the New World. Henry the Tudor had another son, Henry VIII. Henry VIII went through 6 wives. His second wife was his wife when the Reformation started but was unsuccessful so he was granted divorce
Some of you might wonder how can I talk about church, even though today’s scripture talk about Holy Communion. So this is how United Methodist stated on Holy Communion, “. .We believe the Lord 's Supper is a representation of our redemption, a memorial of
The Protestant Reformation was a European movement in the 16th century that directed to reforming the beliefs and practices of the Roman Catholic Church. Protestants no longer acknowledged the authority of the church, and individual Protestant religious groups did not acknowledge the authority of any other groups. This led to New World settlement as an escape from persecutions by Catholics or other protestants. England became directly involved in the Protestant Reformation when King Henry VIII declared himself Pope of a new church in 1534 known as the Church of England or Anglican Church. King Henry’s declaration was that he wanted to divorce his wife after she could not birth a male heir.
In 1558, Protestantism had officially broken off of the Church of England. However some people still
The Church of England or Angelacinism differed from other protestant branches such as Lutheranism. There are many different reasons that show how the two protestant branches are different. Some differences presented are the reasons of new branches and who started them.

The Church of England was formed by King Henry the eighth. He formed the Anglicans because the woman that he was married to was not producing a male heir so he went to the pope and asked if he could have a divorce. The pope said no and King Henry went off to form a new church with the same belief and practice system and the RCC but they denied the power that the pope had for decision making. The Lutheran church was formed by a man named Martin Luther the reason that he was even given the opportunity to form his church and have a say is quite interesting.
It started when controversy, caused by the people of England, erupted regarding the Old church on politics, religion, and persecution. The Old Church of England believed that they helped people get to heaven by having masses for their souls. Protestants believed that there shouldn’t be a church tied to civil power, but in the 16th century a church with civil power was very important. Fueling the Protestants were Martin Luther, a German monk, and John Calvin, a French ceric and lawyer, who’s efforts helped over throw the Old Church of England. In 1534, once Henry VIII was denied divorce from his wife by the Old Church of England he decided to create a new church, the Church of England. Henry VIII then placed himself at the head of the church, replacing the Catholic Pope of Rome. This became the official state religion in which all the protestants of England joined. The Church of English was very power saying that the Old Church of England had no power because God had all the power and humans had none, so only he decided if we would reach heaven. Even though the Church of England didn’t believe in the Old Church of England ways they still had many things in common with them. For example, stain glass, bishops, priest, decans, cathedrals and choirs. Protestants were upset and being to feel that the Church of England was converting back to the ways of the
During the early 1600’s in England, citizens were required by law to attend Anglican Church. The problem with this was that many people did not agree with Anglican practices. This group is referred to as Puritans or Separatists. Both of these groups thought that the Anglican Church needed to be purified, but Separatists believed in completely leaving the church and practicing within a new one. The Separatists faced major persecution and many decided to leave England for America. The religious dissension in Europe directly caused Protestants and Catholics to settle in America in an action and result manner. Europeans took action to prosecute Christians, therefore resulting in their relocation to America.
Before the Reformation, England was a Roman Catholic society that was led by the Pope in Rome. Religious life followed a very traditional and structured way of life and was very much ‘deeply embedded in the

Christianity is the religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. Most followers of Christianity, called Christians, are members of one of three major groups--Roman Catholic, Protestant, or Eastern Orthodox. These groups have different beliefs about Jesus and His teachings. But all consider Jesus central to their religion. Most Christians believe God sent Jesus into the world as the Savior. Christianity teaches that humanity can achieve salvation through Jesus.
