They explored the regions west of the Mississippi, from the confines of the Arctic ocean in the North to the borders of Mexico in the South. All without government protection, they traversed through perilous mountain ranges filled with savage foes. Canoed over uncharted waters, and only narrowly escaped. Jedediah’s adventures were often never recorded, and credit was given to those men years after the trail was discovered. Jedediah is the real mountain man we all owe credit to.

Butler grew up dirt poor. He was kicked out of his house when he was only 13 years of age.
