If I would have to choose a historical figure that inspires me most, it would have to be Andrew Carnegie. Coming to America as a scottish immigrant and digging himself out from the bottom class. He single handedly created Carnegie Steel, which allowed America to grow upwards with his steel as its backbone, and lifeblood. In the face of impossible odds he surpassed everyone's wildest imaginations of what a human being can accomplish and achieve in their lifetime. An early example of what would be to come would be his construction project of the Eads Bridge. In the face of new laws written up to keep the river boat commerce alive bridges had to be built beyond what was possible at the time. To circumvent that Carnegie questioned and
Well Carnegie steel business was a great success but all he was trying to accomplish was to be richer than John D. Rockefeller and make him pay for the mistake of cutting of his apprentices railroad business. While working for the railroad company Carnegie began making investments. He made
I have always enjoyed listening to stories and reading about people who gave up all they could to change the lives of people in their home countries and even in other countries. I especially love reading about Mother Teresa and all the charitable work that she did. Even after her death, she is still remembered for all that she did and the lives she touched with her work. Her story really inspires me and makes me strive to be the kind of person who will be remembered for positively influencing and changing the lives of other people.
The episode is about how Andrew Carnegie impacted America. Carnegie built the industry of mass steel productions. He started on working on railroads, and soon helped build and envision some of the great buildings in America. It all started when Carnegie worked for Tom Scott as a child to make extra money. He learned a lot about business and became interested because of him. Later on, still employed by Tom Scott, Carnegie had a vision on building a bridge made of steel over the Mississippi river. He created way of mass producing steel, and successfully built the bridge. Tom scott's railroad business was being supplied oil by Vanderbilt, soon after Vanderbilt decided to cut the supply to Scott’s business. Carnegie's mentor soon passed away

With Henry Frick at Carnegie’s side, they ruled the steel industry and began to draw in large sums of money and quickly became some of the wealthiest men in America. They would make the steel industry extremely powerful, and create a huge workforce to feed the extreme amount of immigrants looking for work in the U.S. This boosted the economy enormously since most people could work in the many steel plants, or as a constructor. Carnegie’s steel was being purchased all over the United States. America was growing upward because the new steel could form taller yet safer buildings. Carnegie made the U.S. one of the most powerful and modern countries in the world through his steel. Steel was not only implemented in new tall buildings, it was also used to replace iron railroads. Carnegie had a major impact on modernizing America and making it powerful. He made America profitable, but through the struggling working class citizens. But, without those hard working citizens, America would not have been built as quickly, or been as
Andrew Carnegie first started as an apprentice of Cornelius Vanderbilt which had owned just about every railroad and railway line to deliver and trade goods. When Vanderbilt died Andrew took over Vanderbilt’s business. Finally, when Andrew Carnegie took over he decided to look for something more. Andrew found a new way to make bridges, towers, or anything stronger. Andrew found that the secret tool was steel. Steel was Carnegie's vision of America. To prove that steel was the new building tool he decided to create the Eads Bridge. At first, the building of the Eads Bridge was going as planned but then things took a turn. Unfortunately, Carnegie did not have enough money to continue building the bridge so the work had to be put to an immediate stop. Luckily, Andrew Carnegie did end up getting the money to continue building and finish the bridge. When the Eads bridge was completed Carnegie ran into another problem. The people were scared to walk or drive across the bridge. The stability and strength of the bridge had to be tested for people to trust that it would be safe. . So, to display how strong the bridge was Carnegie decided to have an elephant lead a parade across the bridge. The elephant did successfully walk across the bridge. From that day on people have been driving, walking, and running across the the Eads

A person who inspires me is Alex Smith. Alex Smith was the former quarterback for the 49ers. In one game he got hit hard and went down with a concussion. He lost his starting job and got traded. He inspired me that even if you get knocked down to just get back up.
The “rags to riches” story is a term of reverence respecting the few in society who sacrificed the little they had and emerged successful. These doctors, lawyers, entrepreneurs, researchers, and other professionals inspire people of all socioeconomic levels by transforming nothing into something. Jay-Z, George Soros, Steve Jobs – these are names culture holds with great respect. One “rags to riches” story not many Americans have heard of pushes the limits of mental capacity. This man followed the poor-to-rich path and succeeded to such high degree that he, in turn, defined the very essence of this characteristic. Once a poor boy, Andrew Carnegie transformed the limited resources available to him into tools that aided his journey in becoming one of the richest, most successful men in all of history. Carnegie began his journey as an immigrant to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania from Scotland. His family sought work, as their former weaving business had been destroyed by the Industrial Revolution (“Andrew Carnegie” American Experience). This experience as a poor worker created the drive that led him to become one of the wealthiest men of all time through his massive steel company, the Carnegie Steel Company. In conjunction with his economic success, the tycoon used the fruits of his leadership in the steel industry to become the “father of American philanthropy” (“Meet Andrew Carnegie”). As accomplished the man became, the
Andrew Carnegie was one of the wealthist man of 19th century. Some claim that his money was the result of dispensing poor working conditions and treatment for his workers. Others say that he was a truthful, industrious man. So, the question is who was right and who was wrong? Andrew Carnegie was born into a poor family in 1835 in Dunfermline, Scotland. He spent 13 years of his life in Scotland and then because of an economic depression his family had to move to United States. He worked his way up from being a necessitous Irish migrant to become one of the most prominent industrialists that helped alter the U.S. steel industry in 19th century.
My Three Greatest Heroes and their Most Important Character Traits. 1 # Harry Truman Harry Truman is my hero because he was challenged to make lots of extremely hard decisions as president. Of which were the dropping of the nuclear on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and starting the Korean war. On his desk in the Oval Office there was a sign that said the buck stop here what that meant that no matter what happens when he was in office he would take full responsibility for it.
Tom Scott guided Carnegie by making him his personal assistant, 6 years later Andrew Carnegie used the knowledge gained to follow in his steps and become the next superintendent of the Pennsylvania Railroad Company. Around this time Scott helped the industrialist by informing Carnegie of the necessity of a bridge crossing the Mississippi. Using the knowledge of industry and economics he had been taught, Carnegie created a more cost efficient way to produce steel. When Carnegie finished a successful bridge, and the steel industry began to flourish. Around this time period, Andrew Carnegie also co-created a steel company, Carnegie Steel.
In the video “The Men Who Built America”, episode four the video opens up with Andrew Carnegie watching as his mentor Tom Scott is buried. The video then goes on to explain how Carnegie became to work for Scott and become his personal assistant at the age of twelve. Scott saw in him the drive and potential that he could use to his advantage. Carnegie is moved up to manager of Scotts railroad company at just twenty-four years old. Scott puts Carnegie in charge of the ask of getting a bridge built across the Mississippi river a daunting task for young Carnegie but he won’t let it stop him. He gets the idea to use steel to build the bridge he had to find a way to get enough. He meets with Henry Bessemer, who has a process that can make a steel rail in fifteen minutes instead of two weeks. Carnegie sees how beneficial this can be and he uses Bessemer’s process but expenses keep rising and he is behind schedule, so he is forced to stop production on the bridge. He doesn’t let this stop him, he gets the money from investors but another task is getting everyone to believe that it is safe. Once again he finds a way around this challenge as well. This bridge opens the doors for Carnegie as railroad companies come knocking on his door for his steel. With the help of Scott, Carnegie opens his steel mill just outside of Pittsburg, there is only one problem the railroads are not making enough profit, so Rockefeller lowers his oil prices for the railroads but it’s not enough and the railroad companies go back
