Ancient Rome is near the Tyrrhenian sea and the Mediterranean sea, it is surrounded by water, being surrounded from the sea helps to protect Rome from invasions. Rome’s location got traders from the Mediterranean sea which it is easier for transportation. This made Roman empires and cities to trade, they were able to trade with Europe, Peninsula, Africa. Rome’s central location made it easier for trading. The resources that the Romans got were fish so they could eat, having fresh water they could drink. The Alps and the Apennines are the two mountain ranges that protects Rome from any army attacking.
Rome had fertile soil, plenty of rain, and sunshine. Good transportation. Transportation networks made military conquest, trade, and the exchange of ideas possible. A powerful military.
Rome was an empire that lasted for hundreds of years, it was located around the Mediterranean Sea. Their location allowed them to become a major trade source, boosting the economy and power. Rome was known for its fierce military, loyal citizens, and strong empire. As Rome began to decline, they lost their major strengths, making them susceptible for invasions and citizen uprising. Three main causes contributing to the fall of Rome are the lack of patriotism, weak central military, and invasions from Germanic tribes.
The Roman Empire was one of the most popular empires that there ever was. It was also one of the largest as it went as far as Memphis in the South and Europe in the North (document 3). The empire’s location was not the best. Water practically surrounded the entire empire. The Mediterranean Sea, Black Sea, Atlantic Ocean, and Caspian Sea were all ports of water around it. However, that did not hold back the empire’s power, as it quickly adapted and used it to their advantage. Sea trade, deep harbors, and roads are a few of the ways that the Roman Empire used their location to help themselves.
Rome developed 15 miles where the Tiber river empties into the Mediterranean sea. The distance provided the Romans with protection because the intruders would have to travel inland from the coast. Also, the italian peninsula was the protection offered by the Alps and Apennine mountains found through the regions.
But at war they were unloyal and would fight against Rome. One of Rome’s causes to fall was it grew to big to protect. The borders of Rome became hard to protect, and had grown to large for it to be protected at the level needed. According to Doc 2, “Borders became difficult to secure and the amount of gold needed to maintain roads and perform routine maintenance was never enough.”
The Romans had olive oil, vineyards, and wheat imported from territories all around. Trade was also very frequent in these regions. During pax romana, Romans could trade safely with countries without worry; also, the Roman Empire’s location next to
Protected boundaries are very important for having a strong empire protected by incoming attacks. When there aren’t enough people equipped to watch out for enemy attacks, the empire could be ambushed, and with few soldiers nearby, they would be easily killed. Then, a few more soldiers would arrive, and they too would be killed. This would continue in the same way until the enemy had wiped out most of the military and has taken over the entire empire. Rome was one of the largest and greatest city back in the 1800’s B.C. Rome was just a small village in Italy then later on in 247 B.C. they started to gain control. They had a whole strategy of how to gain control with the army, and then the small village grows into an empire as they’re taking over. Rome’s longitude is 41.9028 N and the latitude 12.4964 E; which it’s surrounded by the Adriatic Sea, Ionian Sea, and Tyrrhenian Sea. Also, Rome has hills that invaders can’t come in.
To the north of Rome lies many lakes that are volcanic and an open area which was easy to be targeted by many ships. The location of Rome has been said to be very ideal and helped with the expansion of Rome today.

Originally founded as a trading post for the Etruscans, Rome was located along the Tiber River. Much of the early civilization’s success can be credited to the agricultural resources of the Italian Peninsula. Wheat and barley were harvested not only for consumption, but also for barter and payment for governmental taxes. The precious metal mines of Sicily also provided resources for additional growth and development. Other resources of the area include olive trees and grapevines, which were introduced and cultivated by Greeks living within the empires boundaries (Acrobatiq, 2014, p. 46).
Rome is now a place that holds 3 of the world’s 100 largest companies which are Enel and ENI which these companies that sells electricity, gas and oil (New World Encyclopedia 2015). The last one being Telecom Italia in which is a companies that is a carrier for mobile networks. Rome also has huge transportation train in which carries 400,000 people everyday all around Europe (New World Encyclopedia 2015). Rome has many valuable resources in which play a big impact on our live in which being a significant place in history because it helps us understand change and how the society we lived in came to be(New World Encyclopedia 2015). Also Rome is a great place to learn about the catholic religion, religion is important because human beings seek purpose in their lives, and religion gives many people that purpose.
This made it easier to protect their land. Western Rome controlled Europe and North Africa including the city of Rome. Eastern Rome controlled Turkey and parts of Asia and included the city of Byzantium.

Roman people were not all treated equally first because all women had to stay at home and also because the slaves didn't have any rights if you were poor you were a slave.
