Speaking Out Loud – Analyzing Lupe Fiasco’s “Words I Never Said” Artists create with a purpose of sharing a message. Some popular artists in the public eye are challenged to be ‘politically correct’ -- not offend anyone with his or her work. Of those popular artists very few express what they believe in like rapper Lupe Fiasco. He is known globally for his articulate lyrics and speaking what he calls, his truth. In his song “Words I Never Said” it is a lash out of ideas he has regarding social, religious, and political events in our recent US history. Through lyrics and visual assistance from director Sanna Hamri, Lupe Fiasco presents his song, "Words I Never Said" to share his unapologetic perspective of the United States government.

She creates a world that has a strong law enforcement presence than instills fear in the people. In the video Hamri symbolizes the silence Fiasco speaks of in his song with gag masks. There is a scene of Fiasco stepping on a city bus and you see the bus driver wearing a gag mask. As Fiasco walks through the bus he sees all the passengers are wearing gag masks. The situation of riding a full bus is a perfect example of strangers not attempting to converse in such small quarters. They go about their everyday life riding the bus, but do not speak to one another.
In the next scene, Fiasco continues to the back of the bus grabs the intercom walkie and spits out “ I really think the war on terror is a bunch of bullshit." (line 6.) Everyone simultaneously turns to looks at him. As he continues to rap his peers look stunned at what he’s saying. The bus immediately pulls over and law enforcement charges in carrying him off the bus. Once they get him off the bus a gag mask is strapped to his face.
