Analysis: Should College Athletes Be Paid

First, many college athletes risk getting terribly hurt every game. Also, the National Collegiate Athletic Association, also known as NCAA, is bringing in extra money from sports tournaments because of them, and finally, because if they were to get paid they could be able to support their families. Studies have shown that if these athletes got paid, they would do better in many of their classes. College sports have been popular since the 1850’s but since then the athletes have not been getting paid. College athletes should be paid to play the game that they have devoted lots of time into.

The answer is obviously no, and college athletes fully understand that they are amateur athletes who should not be paid. Although they put in many hours of work, college athletes do not deserve to be paid for

Should college athletes get paid? That is a million dollar question! I honestly do not think that athletes should be paid. They are lucky to even be given the opportunity to continue there athletic careers. If a college athlete wants to be paid so bad they should just go to work.

Should college athletes get paid? College athletes play sports not just as a hobby they play it like it’s a job and it benefits many people and they should get paid for it. They should get paid because not all athletes get full scholarships.

Professional athletes all around the world bring in sum of the largest paychecks around, but college athletes, though they work just as hard, see no compensation for their efforts. As of today, college athletes are not paid, and never have been. Even with the insane amount of money that both colleges and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) make from the athletes’ hard earned accomplishments. There are many college athletes that, though they are working hard to meet the expectations of colleges, still have to pay off their college expenses while being used by colleges to bring in lots of revenue. They are working harder than any other student on any college campus, balancing their sport and education, so shouldn’t they be rewarded?

Collegiate sports have turned into a billion dollar industry and are probably just as popular, if not more popular than professional sports. College athletes put their bodies on the line to play a sport they love, many with hopes and dreams to one day make it to the professional leagues. Athletic facilities are the major money makers for all universities. Colleges bring in billions of dollars in revenue annually, yet athletes do not get paid. Some fans believe athletes should not get paid due to their sports level being “amateurish.”; however, this is far from the truth. There is much more to being a college athlete than just practicing and playing games. These student-athletes must practice, weight lift, go to meetings, travel, go to tutoring and study groups, all the while maintaining sufficient grades. This is very tedious work and is very time consuming. College athletes have a high standard to live up to (Frederick Web; Huma Web; Patterson Web ).

Should college athletes be paid? Let’s take a quick glance at the pros and cons of each perspective. For starters, in my opinion, yes, college athletes should get paid. What deserves debate, is the conversation of how to get this done. From my experience, in America, you get paid in proportion to the value you bring to the marketplace. I think College athletes should not be paid because they are getting a big shot on whether they go on to the big leagues.And i think that since they are getting a scholarship for free or discounted tuition to that school, that is giving them their big shot. So i feel like they would be a little ungrateful to ask for money and they are getting a huge shot to make a lot of money. I also feel like they should not be paid. I think they should pay more time focusing on playing because if they do good then they will move on to bigger and better things.

Top collegiate athletes should be able to get paid. Schools are making millions in ticket sales, selling jerseys and other venues that help out of school. However, college athletes make all the money for the college. College athletes should deserve to to get paid. “The college sports industry generates $11 Billion in annual revenues.”(Text 1, line 1) the college sports industry generates so much money, that they need to share the money and that it's selfish. Scholarship athletes should be getting paid.

I strongly believe that college athletes shouldn’t get paid because a scholarship to a college to play for their team and a free education is enough payment. Student-athletes with full-ride scholarships don’t have to worry about student loans or any other debts they would have to pay back for attending that college.

College athletes should be paid because of the hard work, dedication and effort they put into their respective sports. These athletes are a major source of income for their schools and they are not receiving a penny for it. These college athletes deserved to be paid, colleges are using these athletes to get money and they are never given anything but a pat on the back and a good job. There have been ongoing arguments over the past decade of whether or not college athletes should be paid to play. Many argue that they do not have time to get real jobs because the requirements for the sport that they participate in are far too demanding. Others cite that these athletes are provided full scholarships to attend the schools at which they are playing the sport. However regardless of the argument, I still feel that college athletes should NOT be paid to play.

There has been a recent debate on whether or not college athletes should be paid. Many people believe they should get paid, but many others believe they should not be paid. College athletes should not be paid because the students should worry about their education, it is an extracurricular activity, and the Ncaa does not approve of it.

College athletes are finally getting attention on the fact that they are not paid. I believe that whether or not it is college or pro sports they deserve a salary. These players put their heart and soul on the field and get nothing in return. No matter the case, if the students move on to pro sports or not after college, they should be entitled to some pay for their contributions. College athletes deserve to be compensated for their playtime in these sports, sales of products with their name on it, and even compensation for their injuries.
