This January we, as a class, read The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls. The Glass Castle really opened my eyes to what alcoholism is really about. Alcoholism is what Jeanette’s father had and it made him blackout and not remember what he did. This is what everyday people do in today's world. And some are sick and tired of it. Some causes that have occurred would be those people growing up in homes that alcohol was a normal occurrence. Alcoholism has a huge roll in The Glass Castle and it is important that the cause of it be found and how to prevent these from happening.

They could have poor eating habits or not eat at all, they could miss work or school because of the drinking, Things to look for when dealing with someone who has alcoholism would be if they are drinking alone, drink more to feel the full effects of the alcohol entering their system, not worrying about their personal hygiene and what they look like or even not being able to control the amount of alcohol they are consuming. The full alcoholism definition is an addiction to the consumption of alcoholic liquor or the mental illness and compulsive behavior resulting from alcohol dependency (webster). It’s saying that alcoholism is something that can not just be stopped anytime it wants the person with it would need the support of their loved ones to help them get through their addiction. If someone does not know if they have alcoholism they can test themselves by asking some questions to themselves and answer them honestly. Some examples of the questions that could be asked would be, does the person need more to drink in order to feel the effects of alcohol, do they feel guilty after drinking, these questions would help someone find out if they have alcoholism or not (healthline). However, if that person wants a professional opinion they could go to their doctor and he or she would ask similar questions, but more toward the person’s everyday life such as do they drink and drive, have they experienced blackouts while drinking, have they ever tried to quit drinking before these questions could also help determine if that person has alcoholism (healthline). Doctors may also use a survey to give to the patient and it will diagnose the person to how severe their alcoholism is (healthline).
Some treatments that could be given to people who have alcoholism would be a cleansing of the body by having a withdrawal or getting rid of alcohol in order to clean the
