Analysis Of The Film Cake

The Australian Film ‘The Castle’ released in 1997 explores the life of the Kerrigans, a typical Australian working class family. However, their home is placed in an unusual spot; right next to Melbourne’s busiest airport. I believe that the Kerrigans are positioned by the film as being powerless. My first argument is that the Values, attitudes and beliefs that the Kerrigans follow are not really up to date. They do not have a sense of how the legal system works which adds to their powerless theme. Secondly, the Kerrigans think that it is very easy to stop a big business from taking some land. And finally; the Kerrigans have no real education so they don’t turn out to look formal at a court, they dress as if they are true Australians; Shorts and a T-shirt.

Every attempt that “failed” is just another chance to save a life. An unknown source once quoted “Suicide doesn’t end the chances of life getting worse, it eliminates the possibility of it ever getting any better.” There are multiple methods a person can choose from to commit suicide, but this essay will be discussing two specific methods: jumping from the Golden Gate Bridge and physician-assisted suicide.

Claire Standish, the spoiled brat played by Molly Ringwald, reminds me of the girls that I couldn't stand in high school! She places herself above everyone else in the movie. Sure, she's got her problems, just like all teenagers. But somehow, to everyone else, her family's wealth and power and her alliance with the "in" crowd seems to diminish whatever problems she may have.
