In response to the speech ‘The danger of a single story” spoken by chimamanda Ngozi Adichie the key ideas that stood out for me in this speech was how society takes one persons actions of a particular group and base those actions on the behaviour of all of them. Assuming that based on the actions of one individual determines how supposedly everyone else should seem to act, clouding their judgement. The idea of society caught up in stereotypes and labels and the influence of power influencing people's decisions for example the government.

The stories of white races and black races putting ideas into children's minds and setting these stereotypes in their brain and setting this type of behavior where society judges people by their cover which besides the idea of not judging people by their looks. It greatly corrupts the minds of children and how they think creating a society where they aren't able to think for themselves but instead allows the labels society has set to dictate what they can imagine, restricting children from having a different mindset on life. In society today placing labels on life situations has created a harder pathway for society where society expects us to live throughout these labels daily and that one story of one's race or colour dictates everyone other person's life and how they live. It puts pressure on children especially children as they would be brought up in an environment where part of their life has already been set for them due to the fact society continues to dictate a person's life on one's actions. In society for example would be that white folks are known to become a huge success even more so than black people as people have stereotyped it due to the history of society. In a way it has also created a vivid picture in my mind restricting myself from trying to strive for success.
