In this picture of the chain and rope connecting, its relates back to my theme because the it is similar to the ,Alex Cross, protagonist of my story. He faces many challenges throughout the story like, his family has been kidnapped, his closest friend was maybe be the psychotic genius behind his family kidnapping. Each chain represent a link closer to finding his killer but as he gets closer to finding his family he loses trail of the killer. However like the this chain he meets a stranger whos knows the person he is looking for and now he is linked back to the case.
This is much like in the crosswalk in the rain. We see a picture of a man facing a crosswalk. This crosswalk could be resembling a choice he has to make in his life, while his tie is resembling his professional life. He may be
A ball of twine. A packet of gum. A spelling medal. These are just some of the many things Boo Radley left Jem and Scout in the hole in the tree. Before Nathan Radley put cement in the tree, the best part of Jem and Scout’s day was finding one of these treasures in the tree. If I were able to give gifts to Jem and Scout through the tree, I would give them gifts that would encourage them to follow their dreams and make them happy.
In the book excerpt by Firoozeh Dumas, “The F-Word”, Dumas uses several techniques to hook her readers and keep their interest in her piece. It was her style, however, that did most of the work. Dumas' article has a very strong single argument that she works toward throughout her entire piece. She claims that the English language could do with a bit more “spice”, as she calls it (Dumas). Though this argument is only listed only twice in the excerpt, it is the underlying foundation of every humorous story as well as every painful moment. Throughout the excerpt, Dumas has paired together the use of her style with how she builds ethos in the reader's eyes. This creates a very good way to convey the argument, however it still lacks certain strengths. Had she written in a slightly more formal tone and included more evidence, she could have kept her humor and continued to build on her ethos by appealing to a more professional group. The use of an easy going conversational style in Dumas' excerpt helps to portray her claim in a way that most readers will be able to identify with, however, the style does not work well in appealing to a professional setting due to the lack of empirical evidence.
This realistic fiction novel Tangerine, by Edward Bloor, describes the problems and relationships that Paul, the protagonist, discovers when unlocking the meaning of truth, no matter the obstacles people put up to block him from it. A motif is any recurring element that has a symbolic significance in a story, and Tangerine uses The motif of “sight”, to introduce Paul to the universal statement of truth and make him aware of what the people surrounding him can and cannot “see”. Paul Fisher, the main character, uses the motif of sight to have a new understanding of his friends, family, and himself.
The temporal setting “oppress the character with the shape of a pendulum” (3) He fears its deadly velocity which represents his final hours of life. He feels terror of the doom that will “cut” his time on earth. As everyone knows, this symbolizes that death is inevitable.
I know this was the theme because, Kristina did drugs one time and got addicted. Because of this, she distanced herself from her family and friends and let the drugs control her life. Evidence that supports this theme is that after the first time she tried drugs, Kristina's life and choices just seemed to get worse. Symbolism in the book is the monster. The monster represents whatever bad thing it is that you love in life. For Kristina it is crank, but different people have different monsters. In the book Kristina states, "Life was good before I met the monster. After, life was great. At least for a little while." This statement shows that while the monster made her feel good for a short amount of time, eventually it caught up with her and the bad thing she loved no longer made her feel
School Ties by Richard Wolf is a story in which he shows that people can be prejudice towards someone based off the religion they uphold. The author, Richard Wolf, uses the literary technique foreshadow in School Ties. Foreshadow allows the audience to predict what might happen in a story before the event actually happens. Because of Wolf’s foreshadows, we knew from the moment David decided to keep his religion a secret that it would eventually be exposed and that his friends would be prejudiced towards him.
A major symbol of the story is the presence of a snake but is sublimely interjected into the whip and
It seems that the people around us can heavily influence the decisions we make in our everyday life. In “The Harness” by Ernest Buckler, the relationship between seven-year-old David and his father, Art, show that one event can lead to a whole new relationship that changed for the better. Based on these events, it can be said that even the smallest actions can have the most meaning to someone.
4. The chain around Marley's waist is symbolic of his greed and misplaced values in life, as well as his penance.
Another example of these links is when Stanley finds the lipstick that once belonged to ‘Kissin Kate Barlow’ of old Camp Green Lake. Irony is also used in creating the links from old camp Green Lake to Modern Camp Green Lake, an example of this is that Kate Barlow robbed Stanleys great grandfather and is the reason that you and your family are so poor now, and yet when you gain a lot of money at the end of the novel it is because of her.
Marley’s ghost!” Marley, “The chain he drew wrapped was clasped about his middle. It was long, and wound round him like a tail.” The significance of the chain was what it holds: cash boxes keys, padlocks, ledgers, deeds and heavy purses wrought in steel. Marley was Scrooge’s partner and he
“The Roaring 20’s” is a common name used for the 1920’s era because there was much success around the nation, subsequent to World War 1. F. Scott Fitzgerald writes “The Great Gatsby” with it’s setting dating back to the 1920’s. In this novel, Fitzgerald writes about the baffling main character known as Jay Gatsby and other complex symbols throughout the novel. Followed by this novel were many films, one being “The Great Gatsby” (2013) successfully directed by Baz Luhrmann. The novel and the book both share similarities, yet have some differences between the parties, characters, and the symbols.
Demographic transition is a model based on birth rate and death rate in a populace. As indicated by this theory, each nation progresses through three distinct phases of population development. In the first stage, the birth rate and the death rate are high and the growth rate of population is low. In the second stage, the birth rate remains steady but the death rate decreases swiftly. Therefore, the growth rate of the population rises rapidly. In the last stage, the birth rate begins falling and tends to parallel the death rate. The growth rate of population is lingering.
