Throughout the entire world there are many small girls looking to play softball their entire life. Starting out in T-ball, and working their way up until finally every little girls dream, playing College softball. That has been my own personal dream since the very first time I picked up a softball when I was four years old. I am a typical softball player because; my dream has always been to be able to play college softball somewhere. One way I am not a typical softball player is because everyone says all softball players are homosexuals or lesbians. In my case, and most other cases softball players are straight, there are very few lesbian girls on one specific team. Most statistics are biased, and say that men throw harder than women. In some cases, that is very true given the circumstances, that a baseball weighs less than a softball and is significantly smaller than a softball which is approximately the size of a grapefruit. I believe that a woman can outpitch a man, given the right circumstances. Typical softball players are usually said to be either really short and good, or
Georgia. She had also went to a baseball camp there. Other teams showed great interest in her, the Memphis Chicks offered to trade their two outfielders for her, but were declined, because they considered her too valuable.

Three years later, Jordan earned her law degree as one of only two African‐American women in her class.” They both did what they thought was right, and that is what caused more fame and awards for

She began to take part in athletics at an early age, taking the title of state bowling champion when she was only ten years old. Eventually, a new law would give girls the same sports opportunities as boys, and she immediately jumped into basketball (Hasday 1). Her outstanding performance on the court and in the classroom helped her gain entrance to Southeastern Louisiana University on scholarship, and she left the school as the third highest scorer in the history of the school’s women’s basketball program (“Robin Roberts” Notable 1). Because women’s professional sports was not very established at this time, Roberts knew she had to pursue something else. “Robin decided to combine her love of basketball with her strong interest in journalism. She gave little thought to the barriers facing women who wanted to work in sports, nor was she deterred because she is not only a woman, but also African-American” (Hasday 2). She landed her first job as a sports reporter for a radio station in Louisiana and worked her way around the South for a while before getting a call from ESPN two years later. When she joined the network, Roberts was the first African-American female anchor (“Robin Roberts” Notable 2). She was an instant hit with fans and critics, and by the end of the year, her versatility as a sports reporter was shown through many different aspects of
In her book, Babara Demick follows the lives of six different North Korean defectors in South Korea, mainly focusing on the economic downturn and famine in the 1990s. She concentrates on their lives before, during and after their defection from North Korea. However, there is a gender imbalance in the defectors interviewed; four out of the six defectors are women. Through this, Demick manages to subtly portray the gender imbalance of North Korean defectors which is skewed in favour of females. The reason to this is that ‘The Gender dynamics of East Asia and in North Korea, as well as women’s smaller bodies, made women more likely to survive and defect during the economic downturn and consequent famine.’ In this report, I shall first
Her parents were not very supportive of this dream that Lyle had. She proved to the manager of the Saint Louis Cardinals that she belonged in his summer camp where she would learn how to play for real. Even though Street did not want to bring a girl to his camp, she was dedicated. Her dad and mom later supported her decision. In 1953 she played professional baseball for the Negro League Indianapolis Clowns. This was a good source because it explains how women were treated different from men and she was playing during my time of

There has always been that stereotype of boys being more athletic than girls. The gender segregation of sports reflects more than just physical differences between men and women. It reflects the way men think about women and sports. When someone throws a baseball in a nonathletic way, a friend would yell, “Stop throwing like a girl!” Being reminded of this
