Azreal is a legendary warrior, one of only five that remain of an ancient race known as the Darkin. He wields his massive blade with grace and poise, slicing through legions in a style that is hypnotic to behold. With each foe felled, Azreal 's seemingly living blade drinks in their blood, empowering him and fuelling his brutal, elegant campaign of slaughter. The earliest tale of Azreal is as old as recorded history. It tells of a war between two great factions remembered only as the Protectorate and the Mage lords. Over time, the Mage lords won a series of crushing victories, leaving them on the brink of obliterating their sworn enemy forever. On the day of their final confrontation, the Protectorate army found themselves outnumbered, exhausted, and poorly equipped. They braced for inevitable defeat. Just when all hope seemed lost, Azreal appeared among the ranks of the Protectorate. With but a few words, he urged the soldiers to fight to the last before throwing himself into battle. His presence inspired the desperate warriors. At first, they could only watch in awe as this unknown hero cleaved through their enemies, his body and blade moving in unison as if one being. Soon, the warriors found themselves imbued with a potent thirst for battle. They followed Azreal into the fray, each fighting with the furious strength of ten until they had won a most unlikely victory. Azreal vanished after that battle, but the Protectorate army 's newfound fury did not. Their surprising

Fenn has used some first person’s phrases in this book, so she can give her opinion about certain topics. However, it’s quite fascinating to many of us because many authors usually avoid using first person’s phrases in their book. There are so many pictures about Mandan’s people are included in this book with a caption, it can help a reader to experience each situation visually for better understanding. The tone of this book is very formal and proper by the way Fenn have includes her experience in the beginning of this book. In the Encounters at the Heart of the World, Fenn’s writing style is very clear and concise at the same time because every topic in this book has been discussed very efficiently. However, the climax of the book nearly end during epidemic of 1837/38, which is quite early in terms of Mandan’s history. “The winter of 1836-37 was especially difficult. The summer had been disheartening. Twenty-eight warriors and the war chief wounded”. This book takes a reader to a transition of a successful centuries to dominance by the

From the beginning of the book, Half the Sky, the stories of Srey Rath, the vibrant girl from Cambodia, and Meena Hasina, the courageous mother from India, and other stories like theirs have helped many people understand the tragedies taking place all over the world. Their stories have inspired the authors and many who have read their stories to dive deeper into thought about worldwide issues plaguing many countries, including the United States. The global issues surrounding women’s health in the beginning of this book include the topics of: the three types of abuses, the inaccuracy of the term “sex trafficking”, and the initiatives to stop slavery.
Dry September is a story where citizens of a Jefferson, Mississippi have heard a rumor that Will Mayes, a black man has raped a white woman named Minnie Cooper. A standout amongst the most fascinating advancements in nineteenth-century American writing school courses as of late has been the presentation of old well known books by ladies to the syllabus. Among works of this kind, E. D. E. N. Southworth 's The Hidden Hand is the book understudies appreciate the most.
I am currently a Junior at Mills High School that is enrolled in the AP Language and Composition class. For our summer assignment, we were assigned to read Zeitoun by Dave Eggers, which recounts the true story of a Muslim-American man named Abdulrahman Zeitoun who remained in New Orleans during 2005’s deadly Hurricane Katrina. While trapped in the city, Zeitoun paddles in his canoe in the flooded streets coming to the aid of those who are in danger; however, Zeitoun is arrested under accusations of being affiliated with an Al-Qaeda Terrorist Cell. Throughout the novel, Zeitoun is portrayed as a gentle and compassionate person who puts his own life on the line to save others; defying the harsh stereotypes that surround Muslims following 9/11. While Zeitoun certainly redefines the views of the reader and portrays a real struggle for Muslims in our nation today, would you still appreciate this story’s message and meaning if I informed you that the real Zeitoun was a man known for committing domestic violence to his wife? Mr. Zeitoun does indeed abuse his wife and has been under trial several times and was convicted for domestic violence and later faced allegations of hiring attacks on his wife, Kathy. The controversy divided my class into two distinct advocates, some of my classmates encourage Zeitoun to be remain in the AP Language and Composition curriculum. While others, including myself, agree that by reading, studying, and writing about Zeitoun we glorify a man who abuses
Dementor’s are known to be one of the vicious creatures to live in the wizarding world. Dementor’s are gloomy, black, have this silk-like clothing, with these monster like hands and no face. The Dementor’s hover around and are always together. They travel in packs. Professor Dumbledore tells all the students that the Dementor’s cannot distinguish the difference between harm and good so do not give them a reason to harm you.(Rowling 3) The Dementor’s, in my opinion, live a dreary life. The Dementor’s are always flying around and everything gets very cold and frozen when they are nearby. Dumbledore specifically said he did not want them inside Hogwarts. But during a Quidditch match, Harry finds himself surrounded by hundreds of them and ends falling off his broom. Dumbledore slows his fall so he isn’t extremely hurt but he was exceptionally angry with them being inside the grounds.
The thought that Sissela Bok about the “whole truth” being attained is that it is impossible that it can be attained. She believes that people are lying deceived everyone, and sometime is used to protect the person. She also thinks that people that are lying is more important than anything in all of the decision that a simple lie brings. I believe she doesn’t have any faith that everyone could tell the truth. The truth is something that is hard to say, and people at times need to lie to protect their love ones. In the beginning of the chapter of “The Noble Lie” she explains how there are different lies. She explains how the lies have different reasons to for people doing it. For some of those reasons it is impossible to be completely truth. Some have to lie to protect others, and cover up the secrets that can be told. There are plenty reasons that there are to lie to people. She states, “The lies are often seen as necessary merely at one stage in the education of the public.” (Bok 166) This is something that everyone does growing up, and no one in one time of their life cannot lie to anyone.
The Red tent is a book that follows the life of a woman named Dinah. The stories that are told throughout take place in biblical times, and follows some of the lineage of the bible itself. The book begins by telling the story of Dinah’s four mothers, along with their relationship with Dinah’s father Jacob. After being introduced to Dinah herself, the book follows her life story from beginning to end, all the way from Haran, through Canaan, Shechem, and into Egypt. Throughout this paper, I will be describing and comparing events of the book verses modern day, in relationship to child birthing practices, family dynamics, personal life experiences of characters, along with discussing herbs, spices, and medications used by

The book Black Hearts opened my eyes to how leadership from a single Officer can have a grappling effect on such a wide range of soldiers from the lowest of ranks. One of the best takeaways from Black Hearts is to never do anything: illegal, unethical, or immoral. Although this is a easy statement to repeat, Black Hearts demonstrates the difficulties that lie behind these words. It has also painted a picture of how leadership can topple extremely quickly from a top down view. The Army is portrayed in a bad light throughout the book relentlessly. This is due to the concentration of poor leadership of the 1-502nd Regiment (Referred to as “First Strike”), a battalion of the 101st Airborne Division.
Kazuo Ishiguro, although still alive, has already changed the face of the field of literature. He has done this through the variant style with which he writes and the way that his Japanese background influences his writing (Sim). He has a unique writing style that is seldom mirrored in the works of other writers in the same genre (Brownstein). Many critics note that he is always producing different books that have such diverse plots which proves that “the most exciting thing about his work is just this refusal to stand still as a writer, this desire to push the envelope” (Sim). Kazuo Ishiguro is a writer who, like many, enjoys exploring a certain topic or emotion, and he especially liked writing about how regrets and memories affect people throughout life (Taylor). His utilization of memories and regrets helps him make deep meaningful characters who allow people to sympathize with their causes (Taylor). Kazuo Ishiguro’s most important contribution to literature is the variety he adds to his field by incorporating his Japanese heritage, his twist endings that surprise readers, the emotions of memories and regret to allow for realistic characters, and his diverse range of writing.
