The aroma of disinfectants fill my nostrils as I take a seat in the center of the room in a cushy yet uncomfortable chairs. Occasional coughs and wheezes break up the silence. Everyone looks sick as a tuberculosis patient, pallid faces and feeble bodies. This room is stale and lifeless, so it’s so hard to just sit and do not a thing. In the corner is a rack full children’s books, One Fish Two Fish, The Little Engine That Could, and many other beloved stories. There is a Culligan water cooler that creates a blub blub sound whenever someone draws water to the other corner. I check the typical round analog clock. I’ve only been waiting five whole minutes but it feels like it has been hours. A few informational posters about disease hang on the
At New Melones Reservoir, despite the continuing snow melt, the water level dropped another foot last week. The water clarity is good and the temperature is slowly coming up, now averaging 76 to 81-degrees. Trout are showing signs of schooling over deep water and feeding on shad minnows. Trollers have been finding trout at 40 to 60 feet with Speedy Shiners, Needlefish, and ExCel lures. Night fishermen have been doing well by anchoring over fairly deep water and lowering their light to about 20 feet. This attracts plankton, which in turn, attracts shad, which will attract larger fish. Live minnows and nightcrawlers are choice baits. The kokanee numbers may be down, but the quality is good with some going 15 to 18 inches. Bladed lures may work well in deeper water as they create vibration which will attract fish. Scented corn on each hook is important. Big trout winner at Glory Hole Sports was, again, Bob James, of Murphys, with a 2-pound rainbow caught at 55 feet in the main lake. Big catfish winner was John Tennant, of Twain Harte, with an 11-pound, 15-ounce fish caught with sardine bait in the main lake. Bass fishing is good for those who specialize in that type of fishing. Hayden Lee, of Angels Camp, recently caught a 10 pound Largemouth Bass on a topwater lure and he had no net in the boat. He and a friend were able to boat the fish for photos before release.
This past week I went to the theater and saw the musical Big Fish, and my first impression before even seeing a second of the play was, “This is a play I have never heard of, so it cant be that good.” But minutes into the play I was hooked, and couldn’t keep my eyes off the stage. There were a few key factors that lead to my attitude doing 180 and greatly enjoying the play. The first factor was the fact it was a musical, I never seen a musical before Big Fish. To my surprise I really did like the whole feel of the musical. I thought the lines of the songs were quite funny, for example the song with the witch in it that was on of my favorite scenes. I also thought the choreography was brilliant, especially the scene with the fisherman. That was hands down my favorite part of the whole musical. The dance that they were doing I thought was very funny, but it also looked pretty difficult to accomplish so I give props to all the actors for making it look like a piece of cake. At one point during that scene every single actor was
Erik Fisher, Paul Fisher's brother, made a number of displeasurable choices throughout his young life. Those decisions affected Paul in great, yet horrible ways. Here are three of the many.
The album I decided to review was “Big Fish Theory” by artist Vince Staples. “Big Fish Theory” is Vince’s sixth project in a mixture of albums and ep’s. Vince Staples is an American rapper from the Ramona Park area of North Long Beach, California. He’s a member of the hip-hop trio Cutthroat Boyz. Along with appearing in movies “Dope” and “Prima Donna”. Vince signed with record labels Def Jam Recordings and Blacksmith Records.
As a child I loved reading and writing more than anything, but as I grew older, my desire to read and write became less and less. I eventually gained that (something) back and that got me to where I am now.
Little orderve like foods, tiny sandwiches that looked like you bought them from a gas station and sushi that looks like it was neighbors with the sandwiches. The rest of the room though was luxurious, there were two velvet couches in front of the large viewing window that was ground level to the lab area. A box of tissues positioned on either end of the couch. In the back there was a couple pamphlets, “How to treat a revived child”, “How to help your revived child re-enter themselves into the world”, and other weird titled pamphlets. Beside the table was an older woman, she was wearing a skirt that went down to her knees, the grey color of the skirt blended almost perfectly into the bland walls. Her shirt was a white button up blouse, her face was stoic, her eyes blue. She was poised, her face looked straight forward but she refused to make eye contact with
Based on Plato's idea teachers should be like a man who left the cave and saw the real world and came back to take students' hands to see the real world. For the teachers, in order to be like that man you have an open mind, looking for a truth everywhere, and hard worker to help the students. To help students, teachers should teach them how to learn, think , and solve problems in the real life. It is not acceptable from the teachers to just give the students knowledge and ask them at the end of the school year. They should give them the key to joy the life. "Don't give me a fish, but teach me how to fish."
I looked around the cramped waiting room and took a deep breath. I took another one as I tried to sink further into the uncomfortable black plastic chairs that everybody who waited for him sat in.There were a lot of things about this room that made me want to bolt out of the door- the sound the secretary’s long claws made as she typed on her computer, the smell that could only be described as a cross between sterile hospital and forest, Everyone else that was sitting inside of that office pulling at their collars and making noises to draw attention away from themselves, and the big gold letters on the wall that spelled out Dr. Luke Jones M.D..
"There are the people in West Africa, where they are live called" Ghana", having a saying: In the future, to the fish, the water is invisible." I think the author's main idea all about advertising is so much advertising that we hardly notice it anymore."Where you add in all the advertisements from other media-up to 16,000 a day!" You ca see how important is it. The author use facts、statistics、data、quotation to supports his main idea about
I sit at the polished wooden table covered with endless papers, some of them mine, others not. The dining room is hazy, only the laptop and essay are clear to me. For the most part, I write in dead silence; occasionally, the heater and my mother’s footsteps disturb this peace. My phone buzzes sporadically, text messages and sports alerts light up the screen a few feet away from me. “I should really turn that off,” I think to myself, “This only serves as a distraction.” The dust in the room causes me to sneeze, breaking my concentration here and there. Besides the dust, the air in the room smells like
The brown brick building in the back of the school, next to the Orbach Science library, is at first shockingly small in size, the UCR School of Medicine. The golden lettering is easily read from a far distance. The surrounding area is very peaceful and calming where I am able to hear the birds chirp as I walk along the shady pathway. There was not a student in sight. As I entered the brown brick building, it smelled delightfully clean and sanitized. All I could hear was beeping from a machine that I could not identify. As I continued walking, a cool breeze was felt as I passed a classroom that was in session. The interior of the classroom seemed very spacious. The more I continued to explore the building, I discovered the dean’s office, and
Most of the fantasy stories or movies have events in which people transform into creatures or objects which is known as a metamorphosis, but in magical realism people treat this as normal. For example, in the movie Big Fish, by Daniel Wallace, the narrator Edward Bloom tells his son’s wife a story about him working at a circus to try and find out more about the love of his life. Edward say in the movie, “On the way to talk to Mr. Calloway I noticed Mr. Calloway's trailer was shaking and a wolf jumps out and attacks me, as I was on the floor I grabbed a stick and started to play with the wolf.” William continued with, “In the morning Mr. Calloway comes out of the woods with the stick I threw in his mouth.” The clowns treated the werewolf as if it were normal and did not pay much attention to Mr. Calloway’s trailer because it happened every full moon. As
Fish Magic is a combination of a charming scene decorated with vibrant colors to make one of the most famous paintings. The painting by Paul Klee has evoked multiple emotions in the audience, as it has it is full of aura. The Fish Magic by Klee was completed during his prime years as an artist before he died of scleroderma. The painting has however remained to be one of the pieces which sparked the creativity of the painter and infused a different level of skills to create a new figure.
When was the last time I scrubbed my hands with soap and water? Did I lock my car five times? If I touch this table, will I get sick? Where is the hand sanitizer? Are my pencils perfectly aligned?
Flashing red and blue lights accompanied by an alarming siren in the distance is signaled when the double doors of the emergency room burst open. Pushed by several nurses, doctors, and other medical staff, a lone hospital stretcher with a bloody, wounded patient flies through the medical center towards the doors to the operating room. This image is what generally comes to mind when you think about an emergency room. Many people believe that the hospital’s emergency room is a dark and scary place. While this is true, the common misconception is that the emergency room is a place clear of humor, when in reality humor is present, even necessary, for many reasons. Many television shows, like the show ER, are based in the setting of the
