As he clung to the piece of driftwood, praying for daylight, the wind howls in the darkness. Adam Baker, a twenty one year old college student, has just escaped death from a plummeting Cessna Citation private jet on its way to La Paz, Mexico. No one knows if there any survivors still floating in the darkness. A few hours earlier Adam had packed his small carry on item for his hour and a half plane ride to La Paz, Mexico from San Diego, California. Adam had been joined by his best friend and college roommate John Stevens. They whistled for a cab outside their hotel, they climbed in and drove off to San Diego executive airport where their private plane was waiting. They arrived minutes before takeoff, as a result of the stand still traffic …show more content…
Adam suddenly awoke from the Captain ordering them to buckle up and stay calm. Adam and John were dazed and confused, they clicked their seatbelts and held on. The Captain hailed for a mayday call, but it was too late, the plane was plunging extraordinarily fast into the dark Pacific Ocean. Adam was jolted when the plane began to free fall, he held on and within seconds everything went black. Minutes Later he awoke on a piece of debris. John rescued his lifeless body from the cabin of the plane and dragged it onto a piece of shrapnel that was floating in the water. John continued to search the sinking plane. Adam slowly regains consciousness, with a vague voice hollering for John. Adam saw John father bobbing up and down on the surface. John realized what Adam was trying to tell him and frantically swam over to his father 's body. John was horrified by his father 's body, it was mutilated by shrapnel from the plane, He had a three foot pole jammed clean through his head. In addition, he was missing his left leg, and had multiple gruesome gashes on his torso. John 's father had died on impact. Adam laying helplessly on the piece of debris saw his mutated body and immediately felt grief. Adam and John joined together on the debris, John let his dad go as his lifeless body slowly sank to his final resting place. They sat there absorbing all of what has just happened, and wondered how could anything go wrong so fast. One moment
April 14th, 2016, 10:00 pm, on board the Norwegian Dawn. Jackson Shloo and his wife were at dinner, at the McDonald's on board. The rest of the restaurants were closed or too crowded at this hour to get a table. After their “meal,” they decided to have the night of their life, party in the club, then at Midnight go to the ship deck and watch the waves. Their kids were in their room on the ship, fast asleep, nothing could wake them up. Jackson didn’t know that he would never see them again, forever. 11:00 pm. Jackson and his wife were at the club, not drinking, but just dancing, nothing seemed different, out of the ordinary, deadly and life changing.
After days of being out at sea a storm started up. Lightning struck the boat, but everyone was okay. It had seemed like a long night, while the boat shook back and forth from the storm. Ben tried to fall asleep for hours and finally was able to.
Father was on that ship. But more importantly, I needed to help the injured. I saw an old man being shot at. I ran to go help him, but… “BAM” I heard a tremendous boom, and then I heard nothing at all.
Now it was time to go get settled into their cabin. After Ike and Jason ate 5 lobsters they were so tired they went straight to bed. The next thing they knew there was this loud voice coming over the intercom saying there was a hurricane nearby and they should brace for impact and grab their life jackets. These boys not only were good baseball players but they were good swimmers so they were not worried. Everybody rushed to the upper deck but it was too late, the boat was already sinking. Once they got to the upper deck, Jason and Ike knew they were going to have to jump off the ship. They buckled their life jackets and dove for the freezing cold water. As they were treading water they could see their teammates on the top deck headed for their doom but there was nothing they could do.

When he arrived to the airport, he ran to the plane. The plane took twelve hours to get to his vacation. Then he arrived to his spot.
“Freedom is the alone unoriginated birthright of man, and belongs to him by force of his humanity.”-Immanuel Kant. The Enlightenment period was all about mankind deserving freedom to each and his own. Several philosophers had their own ideas about how freedom should be distributed. John Locke, Voltaire, Adam Smith, and Mary Wollstonecraft were the main philosophers of this time who shared their opinion about freedom and who deserved it and who shouldn’t have the rights compared to a wealthy upper class white male citizen. They all thought strongly about the idea of freedom and that the government should be controlled by the citizens, along with laws and trials. They were philosophers or thinkers that believed in natural laws, the truths that
His death, however, was not quite as close as a drop from a cliff would tend to indicate. He closed his eyes in waiting for the impact. He’d not taken a look before his descent, but he’d seen the river below [10]. As he braced and the adrenaline swelled, he found himself puzzled as to why his death had not come to pass about twenty seconds prior. He considered the idea that he had already died as he peeked through his tightly clenched eyelids. Wind continued to overwhelm his eardrums. He could see nothing but sky as he gazed upwards, freefalling back-first. He found himself feeling frustrated. How could he have missed the ground? He continued to fall for fourteen minutes. Resolving that there must somehow be nothing below, he maneuvered himself to face downwards, assuming a sky-diver’s typical position. He could make out five rather large unidentifiable shapes through his squinted eyelids. One began to move very quickly towards him. As it neared, it became apparent that it was some sort of flying machine. It flew inelegantly and looked[11] to be composed entirely of unpainted metal. From its belly protruded what seemed to be[12] a large drill. From what he assumed to be its front, its nose, boomed an amplified set of screeches and grunts. He simply stared, puzzled, as the behemoth stared back, falling at a [13] identical rate. The backdrop of unending sky had not waned,
In the poem “ Traveling through the dark” by William Stafford, he describes how he came across a dead pregnant doe as he was driving his car along a mountain road. It was a wined and narrow road so he decided it would be best if the deer was moved into the canyon by the road to avoid more casualties. He conveyed the theme of having to make a tough decision and that life goes on. When he noticed the deer was pregnant in stanza three, he felt pity but knew he could not do anything to help the doe or the fawn. His hesitation in the last sentence of stanza three was him thinking to maybe save the fawn, but then to come to realization of there not being much he could do but let nature take its course.
You may be asking yourself, what is a economic system? Or even an economy? Of
Technology, economic actors and economic institutions have evolved a great deal since Adam Smith's time. Some key difference between economics in his era and modern economic theories are the nature of private ownership, profit seeking, wage employment, and market exchange. The concepts of LLCs and PLCs were not popular in Adam Smith's time. If one owned a company, they’d likely be involved in the means of production, so without limited liability, if a business failed and couldn't pay their debts, they would go to prison. Types of work and workers were very different back then. Agriculture was the main source of income for most people in Brittan during Adam Smith's life. Slave ownership was still legal, and children were allowed to work, some
Jonathan’s pursuit of the perfect flight took everything from him. He lost his health, his family, his friends, and even his home. Although he struggled at times
At this point everyone n the plain is screaming. As we get closer to the mountain the pilot starts to pull back on the stick and pull the plain out of its nose dive and we hear a grinding sound coming from the left side of the plane, we look over to see a panel of the wing and we see a panel pulling off of the plane. The plane spirals out of control heading right for a snowy mountain. We all close our eyes and grab onto the seat. The plane impacts the mountain and the pilot was killed on impact. Nolan wakes up to see the wreckage, he unbuckled his seat and falls to the snowy ground. He looks around for any signs of life but sees
After struggling to get back on, everyone agreed to hold on and to not purposely fall off. This plan was going great until the driver shifted in front of a cruise ship, which was now heading towards us. It was pretty far off in the distance, so that if you went straight you most likely wouldn’t hit it… but let 's just say our driver must not have been very experienced, because he had other plans. Holding on for dear life, we swerved all over the place, hitting waves, and bouncing up and down. It was as if the once perfectly smooth blue waters salt had suddenly taken over burning everyone’s eyes and skin. Someone must have given up on holding on, because we heard a faint voice from the ocean that sounded like a scream saying, “WAITTTTTTT…”, until we could no longer hear it over the boats engines and the screaming children back on the shore.
Anyway, back to “the miracle of human flight”: through that small window pane lies some extraordinary things; nah, it’s not Tom Cruise hanging off the plane. Out there, the world that we’d never otherwise see reveals: deep blue glimmering oceans, mountains protruding through an archipelago of cumulus clouds to flaunt their snow beanies, man-made mountains emerging surreally to the horizon while crepuscular rays bounce off the cities’ skylines and intricate transport web woven onto a panorama of land; watching the scenery unfurl is pure bliss.
