In both, Ace Ventura and School of Rock, comedy is proposed from the outset; even the title and movie cover are comedic. Setting up pretend worlds creates distances for the audience allowing them to laugh at the comedies. In Ace Ventura, the main character, Ace Ventura, is a pet detective hired to find a missing dolphin who is kidnapped before the Superbowl. This concept suggest absurdity at both the ridiculousness of someone kidnapping a dolphin and a private pet detective being hired to find it. This concept also sets up a lot of jokes throughout the movie; Ace has a special bond with animals, an ability to communicate with animals, and in many ways acts like an animal, especially a dog. At no point is the concept of the movie taken seriously by the audience so the outrageousness of Ace’s character and his actions are cartoonish.
This is a very different tone from School of Rock, where the movie is set in a somewhat more realistic world that the audience is able to identify with. School of Rock creates comedy through a fish out of water scenario where the immature, rock and roll loving, Dewey impersonates his roommate, Ned, and becomes a substitute teacher for ten-year olds. The scheming Dewey devises a plan to create a rock band out of his class and win a contest, setting up multiple comedic approaches.
The role of Ace Ventura seems to be written especially for Jim Carrey as it takes advantage of all of his physical comedy gifts. Jim Carrey honed his comedic
Satirical Elements Behind Mean Girls Mean Girls, a movie released in 2004 and written by Tina Fey, uses a array of satirical devices to makes her audience convulse with laughter, but also to poke fun at the stereotypical cliques associated with high school students. Some people worship Mean Girls as the end all be all for accurate representations of high school, but it is, indeed, a satire that utilizes lampoon and caricature to emphasize the ridiculousness of the drama stemming from the popularity hierarchy present in many high schools. While the movie attempts to point out the flaws in how seriously our culture takes high school drama and popularity, Fey successfully creates a Horatian satire with the persona being the naïf, Cady Heron.
Throughout the film Do the Right Thing, we continuously observe racial conflict that builds up to such an extreme point that it leads to a fight for power. This movie portrays the struggles and realities of a neighborhood with white and black African American people. This can be seen in many instances for example when Buggin ' Out, Radio Raheem, and Smiley march into Sal 's and demand that Sal change the Wall of Fame. Another vital instance shows the height of power struggle. It is when the huge fight starts in the street and results in Raheem being killed by a white police officer.

Macbeth was set around 1040s, during this era, Elizabethan and Jacobean times, the traditional theory of witches was widely accepted; and anyone who questioned it was believed to be a witch themselves; if there was suspicion of a person being a witch, prosecution was most likely made.
Comedians are not always the funny personality on stage or on screen. Such a case can be observed with comedian and actor Jim Carrey. As well as many other comedians Jim Carrey struggled with depression. According to a 2004 interview with CBS, Jim Carrey’s parents struggled with financial problems and the problems made him dislike human interaction at a young age (2004). It was during this time Jim Carrey felt angry with the world for making him live in poverty. However, he told CBS that he developed his sense of humor by trying to make his mother laugh when she was very sick (2004). When he eventually came to rise to fame, when money was no longer an issue his mental health became one. Jim Carrey would use various ways to cope with his depression and keep up with his mental health.

The way I see is that Americans are truly the villain in The Host. Americans do illegal, dangerous actions in Korean, which causes the monster, so Koreans did not like and support how the US operates in their country. For example, in the opening scene, an American ordered his Korean subordinate to dump all the dusty bottle into Han river. It is so crazy and irresponsible. Through the rest of the movie, there is an American doctor with a cross-eyed. That character looks like an idiot, and by extension make the country he represents look idiotic too. Finally, when the US Military in the film decided to use Agent Yellow to cleansing the area and to kill the monster. Koreans organized demonstrations to against the release of Agent Yellow by the
The “unconventional-but inspirational teacher” theme is also highly familiar; School of Rock could easily be called Dead Rockers Society, among other titles (Goodbye, Mr. Potato Chips?). The outsider who steps into a straight-laced social order and turns things around had one of its more successful turns in the nineties with the Whoopi Goldberg vehicle, Sister Act, where Whoopi’s “Sister Mary Clarence,” hiding in a convent from a killer whom she witnessed in the act, shakes up the nunnery with her devotional soul music. Generally speaking the positive reviews the film received centered around Mike White’s well-written script, Linklater’s touches of realism in what is essentially a fairy tale, and Black’s charm, including his rapport with the generally strong child cast (most of the band members were hired for their musical talents first; some of them had never acted before). This is all true, as far as I am concerned.
"Split" is a rated PG-13 horror movie released on January 20, 2017 that was not only written, but also directed by M. Night Shyamalan. Shyamalan is renowned in the entertainment business for his movies filled with a great deal of twists and turns. An example of some of the movies that he has written and directed with such a style are "The Sixth Sense" as well as "The Village". Split is no different and bares M. Night Shyamalan's signature style of suspenseful movies accompanied by many twists and turns.
“Do you ever feel like there is a different person inside of you just waiting to come out?” Gabriella Montez (Vanessa Hudgens) says to her friend Taylor Mckessi (Monique Coleman) after receiving a call back in the Twinkle Town musical in the 2006 film, High School Musical. High School Musical is a romantic musical drama about a group of high school friends who stick to the status quo until the new girl comes to East High. This movie will have you tapping your toes and singing its tunes well beyond the theatre.
There are many different types of film and film genres. A film can fit into more than one genre, but there are some genres that are more general than others. Some examples of film genre are animated, science fiction, documentary, comedy, and historical fiction. Within each genre, there are also specific characteristics that help support themes and story lines within that genre.
A genre is a category, and in film it is a way to describe the best fit of the direction a movie will display. There are many subgenres within a genre that also help to give definition. Genres are used to support a system of grouping instead of disarray by leaving others to decipher it themselves. Scarface is a crime film that also has the sub-genre of gangster. Even though it does not dramatize a social statement on a need for change, Scarface fits into the crime/gangster genre because it distinctly characterizes the severe bloodshed and assaults that are customary in the world of organized crime and demonstrates the calamity of the gangster lifestyle; however, oddly enough with the way the murders occurred it also fits into the horror film genre as well.
Despite its 12 years of production life time, ‘Boyhood’ really doesn't say much about life besides what I previously mentioned about how "life goes by fast". ‘School of Rock’ genuinely has more to say about life and emotional maturity than ‘Boyhood’. But the biggest fault about the movie is how after hours of screen time and spending 12 years with them, I couldn't remember any of their names. If this movie so desperately tries to be a coming of age story or a character study it kind of helps if we know these people are in a fundamental and basic
Genre theory is used to study films and put them into a classification so that audiences know what type of film it is before they see it. Genres are categories based on the story of the film, sometimes the actors and actresses, or even the directors. All films fall under a genre or sub-genre category. Romantic Comedy is an example of a genre which is light-hearted, humorous story involving people in love, sometimes overlapping with subgenres such as screwball comedy teen comedy, or gross-out comedy. ( Goodykoontz & Jacobs, 2014, table 4.1). This paper will focus on the romantic comedy genre and movie Rocky. It will take a better look at the specific conventions of this genre and how this movie fits the gangster genre.
