A Good Man is Hard to Find A Good Man is Hard to Find, written by Flannery O’Connor in 1955 focuses on a family and their relationship with the Grandma who loves to travel and explore the world. This short story can be viewed in several elements. One I can relate to the most is character. A character in any short story, novel, movie, or drama is defined as an “imagined person who inhabits a story” (Kennedy, X. J., & Gioia, D. (2012), p. 26). Also, there are types of characters including flat, round, dynamic, and static. A flat character is a person who only has one particular feature. Round characters are when we know more in depth and the author gives vivid details. We are able to feel like we know them. Their “feelings, emotions, thoughts, and perceptions” (Kennedy, X. J., & Gioia, D. (2012), p. 27) are details that we do not have to find ourselves, the writer shows us them through the characters. …show more content…

This story is about a family who wants to take a trip to Florida, but Grandma just read the news and saw about a “misfit” escaping from prison. Grandma tries to convince the family to go to east Tennessee instead. Grandma shows us many different sides of characters. The one that I feel the most connected to is the Round character. We know every detail about Grandma even to the smallest detail of what she is wearing. Also, we see the “misfit” being the antagonist (someone who opposes the main character) and the protagonist (leading character) being the Grandma.
