Today, I think back through ambiguous yet awesome recollections, recollections of the life that I have so far spent in Canada. As I was an international student from India, so my institution had already arranged my stay with a Canadian family, this played a vital life changing role. Being new to everything and changing my perception towards most of the things that I withheld during my upbringing in India, was a bit tough and challenging. Beyond the fundamental concern about finding a job and getting started in Canada, is one of the real apprehensions for newcomers to the country. This is especially true for immigrants originating from non-Western societies who wonder what everyday life is like in Canada, and if they will be able to adjust in it. There are different types of laws in Canada: Civil law, Contract law, Criminal law, Family law, Tort law etc. I was aware of these laws but not what they mean in Canada, for example: a civil law deals with all contracts, property and family related issues; whereas it means the same in Canada but the depth is way much different as of Indian law. My Uncle is a lawyer in India, so I’m pretty much aware about few law boundaries but I don’t know much about them and even I don’t know about their consequences. When I first landed to Canada, I never thought of learning Canadian Commercial law. This course has helped me in learning a lot about what is right and what is wrong in business or in general life.
