This assignment will examine the portrayals of Cleopatra in film and TV series and the political and personal representations of Cleopatra. It will provide an explanation of how Cleopatra, the last pharaoh of Egypt became a well-known historical figure and how our perceptions of her have been concluded. For many, the topic of Cleopatra sprigs to mind ‘temptress’, ‘seduction’, ‘beauty’, ‘doomed lover’ (Uviersity, 2008, p. 3). The twentieth century played a colossal part in how Cleopatra became known as a figure of beauty and a symbol of feminism and femininity. The romance and love in this production was subsequent to the new production code (1934) that had been presented to ensure all movies promoted marriage to ensure no change in society and halting any further equality between men and women.
