Dexter’s Drive-In is an inconsistent restaurant that provides decent food. Service at Dexter’s fluctuates. It can be good one day and the next it could be bad. Sometimes, they don’t answer the phone when you call to place an order. A majority of the time you have to wait about ten to fifteen minutes for your food to be ready after you have placed your order. Orders get messed up a lot, so remember to double check your order. The appearance of the restaurant itself isn’t appealing whatsoever. The outside looks grimy and old. Inside it’s not much better. In the article “Drive-Ins: The Last Great Picture Show by Melissa Shaw-Smith” the author talks about why people prefer Drive-Ins. Some of the reasons why is because you have your own little place so you can do anything in the car, the prices are lower, and you can get children.
For the Rhetoric in Response project, I chose to create a restaurant menu for an old western styled diner. I chose to create a restaurant menu to attract people to buy food and also because I prefer visualization over writings. In a restaurant, the menu is an important aspect for advertising the food that is being sold. The pictures and the design of the menu usually determines what the customer will purchase. Whenever I go to a restaurant that I have never been to, I look at the menu to determine what I would like to eat. The professionalism of the menu allows the audience (the customers) to determine the credibility of the menu. With this in mind, I started to look for a design, descriptions, and pictures that will fit together to create a credible, appealing restaurant menu.
Even though they don’t accept credit, they have an ATM machine to get cash. After the burger is cocked, you have to serve your self with the topping for the burger. They have all kind of vegetables such as Tomato, lettuce and onion. Also, they have so many sauces such as ketchup, mayo and ranch sauce. The don’t have service. Thus, you don’t have to tip the service after finishing. In general, the restaurant idea is pretty new and clever. I have never been to restaurant like this. In addition, the restaurant is very clean and looks perfect to give people a great expression. The floor is very clean. The chairs look pretty good as well as the tables. Apparently, the food is 100 percent clean because the chief cook the food in front of people. Thus, there is no doubt how clean is the food.
As soon as you enter the place you are embodied with the aroma of food sizzling in the kitchen and people chattering in a distance. The way that they furnished the restaurant to feel so much like a little eatery in Italy shows that they really put effort for the customer to have a great experience as soon as you open the door. The atmosphere of the place makes you feel like you are a part of their family you here laughter and see people smiling which feels quite homey in a sense.The people who are attending you are very amazing at what they do, they are very attentive and fast.
The work of art basically promotes a concept that is relatively taboo in the contemporary society. The idea of staying up late is often associated with antisocial behavior and with people who are generally reluctant to act in agreement with norms. It generally seems that the diner does not fit in the environment around it, as it encompasses new concepts that are not present in buildings and businesses around it. Its fluorescent lighting actually makes its visitors feel that they are alienated and one can even consider that they are dehumanized by its influence.
La Cabana is a local Mexican restaurant. When asking majority of people what they thought of the food, they thought it was great but often do not get enough. Sometimes they will get a lot and other times barely get any at all. Many thought the décor was decent, but some said it was outdated and kind of rugged. Music most people thought it was good, but they do not really pay that much attention to it. They all thoroughly agree that the staff is terrible. One person said, “They are kind of snobby and rude”.
I also like how the menu appears, and has everything in an order. The thing that I don’t like about the website is that the pictures aren’t as high quality as they could be. Half of them are really blurry, and others are just taking from strange angles. Another problem I have is that the picture that they choose to showcast the Z place building, has the “Z” of the sign covered up by a car. I think the pictures need to be updated with better quality. The pictures of the food do show cast the food, but they could greatly improve the photos of the building and

I looked around the restaurant. What I saw was amazing. There were replicas of different types of fish and sharks on the wall with the name of their species underneath them. Then I saw a short bar with a clear window in it. There you could see the chef making sushi and the ingredients he uses.
Many restaurants and shops use the look of their building or interior design to lure customers in. Some businesses try to appeal to everyone by using common things that everyone likes, while some businesses try to aim at a certain group of individuals that are into a specific type of theme. In general, we can all agree that a boring place isn’t very appealing to go into to eat or shop so business owners try to appeal to their customers so that they can attract more business. One tactic for bringing in more customers can be seen through the use of color among the business’s interior or exterior. Use of wall space also has an important role in catching people’s eye; what is on the walls and how they are used is a common way to lure in people. Another common and great tactic includes the use of music or media like T.V, what the T.V is showing or the music being played can help bring more people into a place. Buffalo Wild Wings use all three of these strategies to attract its customers, mainly targeting those who have a love of sports.
In my opinion the building looks a bit dull. The colours of the building are very dark and gloomy, which is why I do like the pediment and the balcony. These two parts of the palace are a different material and colour than the rest. The balcony makes the building look more elegant and the pediment is very eye-catching. I don’t think the building is ugly, but it is definitely not one of my favourite architectural designs.
