It’s the grassy greens, near the winding pebbly road I remember first. The long stalks of spinifex still line the edges, though now neatly trimmed all around. The uneven crunch-crunch-crunch of the gravel as I drive my sunny Porsche across town. Even in winter, bindies pepper the half soccer field, other foliage: a bush dotted with withered yellow berries and emerging saplings surround the patchy lawn like spectators. Smack bang in the middle, winter clawing its way in, stands a grandiose resilient oak, basking under the mild heat of the country sun, glorified as it houses two tombs. Its boughs stretch towards me invitingly and I smile…
The third floor is host to four bedrooms. This is the adult sleeping quarters. Each room has a coal fireplace, hardwood floors flowing throughout, the same white paint on the walls, and extravagant gas light fixtures. It has high windows that lead to the balcony and provides a spectacular view.

Amigos de las Americas sends young people from around the country who aspire to become leaders to Latin America to work on a project. Each project has a participant take on a challenge that benefits the community to where they will be staying with their host families. I will be going to Panama for seven weeks where I will be working on a project having to do with helping the environment. I may work alongside another participant and with the community rather than for the community. A key aspect of the Amigos program. The project I work on ideally will belong with the community and continue to help out the community.

The scenery of Annmarie Gardens is, on an average day with no major events, serene. The paved path weaves in and out of the sculpture gardens as it guides its visitors on a quarter-mile journey. Thirteen benches, called the
I chose to write about the article, “House Hunting in Chile” written by Kevin Brass. This article is about a beautiful seven-bedroom home located in Casablanca Valley. The house sits on a massive property of 99 acres. There is a vineyard, swimming pool, and a tennis court on the land. The house itself is constructed in a U shape, with two large wings that hold the bedrooms. In the middle of the house is the kitchen and living room. I simply can not imagine owning a home like this in America! The style of this home is nothing like I have ever seen in America. Most of the time, American mansions will have more than one story, but this house in Chile is all on one floor. There are even two smaller homes on the property to house the staff. The
Built in 2011, this masterpiece of 7000 SF will welcome you with well-crafted Java hardwood floors, leading to a well-spaced kitchen designed by one of the top interior designers of the country, Karim Rashid. The divine arched door enveloping the kitchen reveals a beautiful winding staircase, that ceases at a large interior balcony. A skylight is held above the edge of the staircase, perfect for a glimpse of the western sunset! The master bedroom on the second floor consists of a private bathroom, and a breathtaking view of the blue ocean. Remaining bedrooms provide a comfortable vibe with magenta walls, designer carpeting, and built-in stereos!
Some aspects of Abigail Nguyen's design reference back to several great landscapes of history, such as Ancient Persia's Pasargadae or the Roman peristyle gardens. However, Ms. Nguyen does not just haphazardly imitate any forms and concepts that characterize these great landscapes. Instead, she thoughtfully considers how to properly translate them into a contemporary garden and therefore, chooses features that are appropriate to contemporary life. This demonstrates that Abigail Nguyen is not only a good designer, but well educated in her landscaping field.
Esperanza is a young girl who moved to a small, red, beat-up house on Mango Street. Although everyone has to share a bedroom and it's not the home she had in mind, it is a home. Esperanza tells the story of the house she wishes to live in. She says “They always told us that one day we would move into a house, a real house that would be ours for always so we wouldn't have to move each year” (Sandra Cisneros 4). Esperanza isn't completely okay with where she lives, but she is happy to be with her family, even if the house she is in for the time isn't the best.
Esperanza is still little and picking up on things as she is growing up. In the House On Mango Street, Esperanza describes how she wants to be wanted to go on her own path. In the vignette “The Family
Elisa’s garden is her private escape, where she is free to daydream, yearn, and wonder about life outside of her valley. Her little fenced in garden not only keeps the dogs and cattle out, but her husband does not trespass in it either. It is hers and hers alone. Elisa shows signs that she is miserable in her marriage and her life, by being curt and dismissive to her husband, uninterested in his buyers, and equally rude and dismissive towards the panhandler that rides up in an ancient, rickety, covered wagon. being pulled by an old horse and a mule.
