American History Hope For the Future Hi, today I will be presenting my paper to show how I feel about America and our hope for the future. I think that America can potentially be a better place than it is now, but we have some major work to do. Our country has went downhill in the past few years. There are many different things that we can change, but it all has to start with your our participation in this country and our willingness to help change the world. We could start with some new laws for our country dealing with society. We could start doing things to help the environment to help with the weather decision that we've been having with all the tornadoes, earthquakes, hurricanes, flooding etc. We could have more counseling and coping mechanisms for people that are struggling, either from drugs and alcohol, or the criminals, or children going through self harm, or foster care children. I think that each person who …show more content…
I think that church groups around America could get together and change things tremendously. We need to take a stand and stand up for what we believe in. At least we would know that we have tried and that we didn't give up for what we believe in. Prayer is a big part in church groups and it truly works. I think if we possibly all got together and talked in this world of what should change and what could be done to help, I think we could gain some ground and accomplish something for the future in America. It just takes time and effort to make things better. Some people would say that we need a different president of the United States of America, mainly because people have different beliefs. No president is going to be able to save this world now, because we are way down under. We could all have a say or vote in what needs to change and what could be changed in the United States. I think that that could possibly work with people in the
We want to transform our society so that each each person can be their own agent of change around what they feel important, and shift away from the idea that somehow a voting box every four years will solve our problems
While it is near impossible to fix a country in one term, any steps in the right direction are steps worth taking. I hope that the next president gives all people a voice, and acknowledges the country’s issues instead of ignoring them. On the campaign trail, politicians tend to tailor their views to what their weakest demographic is looking for in a leader, thus making it difficult for voters to sift through what is real and what is fake. This is a tall task- appealing to all citizens while keeping your platform static. Regardless, I would like to see someone in office who does his or her best, regardless of the situations they are presented with. Again, no drastic changes can take place in a single term, but progress can be made. With almost every system in the United States either dysfunctional or just plain broken, the best we can hope for is progress. No matter who wins the election in November, I hope they do not turn a blind eye to the problems facing our country, but stand up for what is right and fuel positive change. That is all we
We are people, we have a focus on living life. We were made for a reason. Everyone has the right to live with life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. What is America today, what can we do to improve life for us and everyone around us. For us to be the best and do the best we have to be ambitious, set up purpose. As being ambitious you need to meet the standards of society also the standards that you make for yourself.
Just like people, no country is perfect, and needs fixing. Some Countries could change things and some do not have the ability to. If I could change one thing in America I would change the amount poverty and homeless people. I would do this because it was never meant for people to be in the streets, or not being able to practically live. One day I was coming back from an appointment in downtown Portland. There were so many
Who will establish the future foundation of America? In society we view the high entitled people as our leaders to engage a part of prosperity for America's future, the true leaders of our country is our children and youth. They will become the government, Lawyers, teachers and doctors of tomorrow. There are many youth around the world are faced with highly competitive challenges in their life. As youth and I include myself we imitate what we see. In fact particularly violence.
Many years ago today, the United States of America was the prime example of prosperity and opportunity. It established America with the idea that its citizens would be guaranteed life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Today, it is true that people have liberties and are free to pursue happiness. However, in recent years, in the worst recession since the Great Depression. Unemployment, growing economy inequality, and medical care have skyrocketed. Despite the odds, the American Dream is still a goal that many people strive for and hope to reach. In fact, an essay written by Brandon King, The American Dream: Dead, Alive or on Hold? He says, “the American dream is a dream in which life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with the opportunity for each according to his/her ability and achievement…” (King 610-611). Therefore, the problem with the American Dream lies not within the dream itself, but within the means people pursue to attain this dream.
The American dream is what makes people from all around the world to want to move to America. The American dream is what makes America wonderful. The American dream has been categorized as an equal opportunity to attain success through hard work. The end result of the American dream for the universal people is for that character and their loved ones to be living contentedly for the rest of their lives. However, this is not the same apparition that every individual has of the American dream. The American dream differs from many different social classes of people in America. Comparing the picture of the American dream between the upper-class, middle-class, and lower-class can result in different situations. All in all there are many different discernments of the American dream for discrepant social classes yet every American in their lifetime will want to achieve their version of the American dream.
In 2005, the three reports entitled Innovative America, Tapping America’s Potential, and Rising Above the Gathering Storm, argue that if the U.S. does not improve its science technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education the standard of living in the U.S. may decrease and threaten the economy and national security. The reasoning that the proponents use is that with more innovation and technological advancements, exports will increase and benefit the economy, but if there is no innovation this will harm the economy. The three reports, according to the Congressional Research Service, argue that in order to prevent these issues, we must close the academic achievement gaps in STEM, improve the quality of teachers, increase STEM labor supply, improve on international ranking assessments, produce more STEM degrees, and increase the number of H-1B visas issued. One of the most controversial subjects of the STEM movement is that companies are using H1-B visas to employ foreigners at cheaper rates rather than U.S. citizens. However, critics of the STEM movement argue that this is a strategic idea called “Brain Drain” where the U.S. is “draining” the most talented and skilled workers from other countries in order to gain an advantage on a global stage. In order for the U.S. to remain a leader in innovation and STEM education, the issue of H1-B visas needs to be addressed.
1.equality . African americans what so different about them, accept their skin color what is so wrong about that. ” I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character” Martin Luther King Jr. need to be equal we live in the same dang country. We need equal rights in this country why because lots of people are disrespected everyday because there is no equality.
The perspective of the person being asked makes all the difference because the american dream isn’t always the same for every person. A study showed that 62% believed their parents achieved the american dream while 57% of parents believe they achieved it. This all depends on the perspective of the person asked. If you ask a minimum wage worker at mcdonalds they may have a different input on what the American dream is compared to a big city businessman. I believe the divide in the different thoughts of what the American dream is makes it a false hope. The belief that anyone can succeed makes the idea to far fetched to be realistic. I believe the American dream is a false hope due to the lack of drive and financial ability of the average american.
The United States of America is the most powerful and wealthy country in the world. The varieties of class, individuality, religion, and race are a few of the enrichments within the "melting pot" of our society. The blend of these numerous diversities is the crucial ingredient to our modern nation. Even though America has been formed upon these diversities, its inhabitants- the "average American"- have a single thing in common; a single idea; a single goal; the American Dream. The Dream consists of a seemingly simple concept; success. Americans dream of a successful marriage, family, successful job, and own a Victorian-style home with a white picket fence and an oak tree with a swing tire in the front yard. The
My first response to reading these articles is sadness. It makes me so sad and frustrated that we as educated civilization still treat people this way. Not only the United States or Africa, but the world. I knew America had its problems, I mean we are still fighting to keep what we have. I had no idea what people go through in Africa. We have come so far as humanity why is education so far behind. My hope for Africa is that the government stops violating its own policies and laws, and starts following through with their promises. The people need to keep up the fight for the rights of children and adults with disabilities.
The American Dream isn’t a piece of legislation or doctrine laid down on paper by the founding fathers, it’s an idea passed down from generation to generation as a path to prosperity. This idea however, is gradually dying out with each passing generation as people continue to lose confident in their influence on the world around them. This mentality is sprinkled about in nearly every aspect of American life now, from the spread of cynicism to lack of political activism in the average citizen. This is felt most in the most recent generation to reach adulthood, the often-derided Millennials. A Daily Beast article by Joel Kotkin depicts a transformation in this generation from opportunity-devouring carnivores into passive herbivores, stating “Rather than seek new worlds to
A New VisionFor the past several decades, people in America have thrived with economic growth and material wealth. These “good times” gave birth to the concept of an American dream, having a traditional family and little to no struggle to obtain material possession. The issue arises when today’s youth is being told that they can have anything they want, similar to how their parents achieved their goals. Being so focused on the past, one can become blind to the future and its harsh truth: the realization that the “good times” as people have defined them are much less attainable today than it was for prior generations. The current generation of American youth has the opportunity to create a new vision of the American Dream, one that is more attainable and conforms to
Changes in the United States can either improve our country with positive outcomes or it can start deteriorating us with the bad choices made. Most of us want the best for the residents of the U.S. but not all of us agree on the choices made by the government. This is a nation where we all have an opportunity to get heard, an opportunity to give input, and a nation where we get to vote for our leaders. That said, let’s make sure we choose right. We can all stand together and look at the true facts of who we are choosing. Let’s not decide based on religion, race, or skin color. Let’s choose who is going to be our next greater leader and who will help us all be a better nation.
