Most people can argue that there is a fine distinction between what is recognized as art and vandalism. The individual is often faced with uncertainty when the topic of graffiti arises. The public often portray graffiti as a destructive act towards his or her surroundings however; graffiti can also be considered a form of self-expression. Many questions can be made pertaining to the graffiti movement, but the main question is graffiti a crime or an art? The answers lie in the complex phrase of “beauty is in the eye of the beholder”.

By definition, graffiti is illegal. It is also considered vandalism because public or private property is intentionally destroyed, but in Alex Boyd’s blog “In Defense of Graffiti”, he clearly conveys his argument about how graffiti shows qualities of value and shouldn’t be criticized on impulse. Even though many people have seen graffiti as something to be condoned, punishable, and terrorizing, it is actually just another form of expression, communication, art, and point of view.

You see it everywhere. You see on buses, on walls, on trains, everywhere. It has made many gawk while others just don’t see a reason to it. Graffiti has many connotations, some good and some bad. It’s the thrill that drives these crazy risk-takers to get their names known. Seeing graffiti through the eyes of an artist who only sees his masterpiece. Graffiti has been here longer then you think. Though you may see destruction of property he only see his art and freedom of expression. Being a graffiti artist is about feeling the rush of a finished masterpiece and not getting caught. Some are the quieter type but are still well-known. It has been here since the 1960s.

In many people's eyes, there are two types of graffiti. Tagging and masterpieces. Tagging can be anything from people names, to their gang names , or anything meaningless, and random. Masterpieces are well thought out and have many meaning behind it. Tagging or a masterpieces graffiti is vandalism. Graffiti is vandalism because it can be meaningless, it cost lots of money to fix if it illegal, and some of it can be inappropriate.

Although graffiti is a dynamic expression, it is also unacceptable and disastrous. Multiple schools understand defacement is sabotaging premise, it is not satisfying. Graffiti is something close to a dreadful description of just an amusing delightful smiley face.Just like it is to draw a horrible outrages, nasty words, or pictures. Graffiti is something no one should transcribe or undertake.

Graffiti is a tremendous problem when it is used to deface property. Why do people create graffiti? Gang symbols, are how gangs show territory, just as animals would. City 's that allow gang symbols are supposedly working against the interest of the people and are instead supporting gangs. Some people use graffiti as a way to show their political views. Sometimes the opinions may not always be the nicest though. People use graffiti to express their love for someone or something, but even if it is meant to express good it is seen as a bad thing or illegal most of the time. (Kershaw)

Graffiti is not art it is vandalism, because people want to show they are bad and can do bad things.Graffiti vandals get both public and private property.When a neighborhood has graffiti people automatically view it as a "bad neighborhood". In addition, to the cleanup costs or graffiti, graffiti vandals shoplift their materials, so it cost the city more money to clean up and pay for the materials.

Graffiti is a hobby that many people loved to do, but the other half of most people dislike graffiti and want it gone.

The first argument point is that graffiti can be beautiful. A famous street artist Nikita Nomerz travels around Russia with his project T he Living Wall, w here he brings old statues, walls, towers, and structures to life by putting graffiti on it. What he does is he puts eyes and facial features in his artwork in order for it to “come alive.” In my opinion artists like NIkita Nomerz love seeing their artwork display itself.

Art is express in many different ways. It is a form of visual expression. Art can be expressed in endlessly ways, such as music, films, writing, paints, designs, fashion, poetry, among others. One of the most controversial ways of expressing art is through graffitis. For many people, graffitis are a way to show disrespect to society, since most graffitis are painted on walls illegally. For others, it’s just another way to express art. Unfortunately, graffitis are considered to be done by gangs and mostly are found in poor neighborhoods.

Graffiti can be found everywhere and anywhere. It is a way for people to express themselves and be creative in a public manner. It shows how passionate and talented they can be when it comes to drawing or tagging and have it displayed as a piece of art for everyone to see. Graffiti goes way back to the ancient times and is now very well known in the modern days which makes more and more people interested and fascinated by them. It can be used in different types of ways. Many artists can either spray paint, carve, paste, or stencil them on a surface. From how we see them today they are usually images of random cartoons, big bubbly letters, vintage black and whites or inspirational quotes. Virtually anything colorful or not and big that can be easily spotted. Graffiti is more superior to be known as art than vandalism because it is a self expressing act. People need to be open minded about the images they see and look at the message behind it or else they will immediately criticize and say it is vandalizing property.

What is graffiti? Graffiti has been thought of as art and vandalism at the same time, but the reasons for it are different not having approval and the meaning behind what they put up being inappropriate, would be considered vandalism. In my opinion, it's both but it depends . Art is completely different considering it's actually appropriate.
