Amelia Earhart was a brave woman who set new records and showed that girls can do things just as well as boys. Amelia Earhart had an interesting childhood, and she started flying when she was very young.Amelia Earhart was best known for that infamous flight when her and her navigator disappeared. While Amelia was growing up she was more of a tomboy she did all the things that people said girls should not do like getting dirty and making a mess. “Amelia Earhart was born on July 24, 1897 at her Atchison, Kansas at her wealthy grandparents home”(mrnussbaum.com). Very soon after after Amelia was born her parents Amy Otis Earhart, and Edwin Stanton Earhart got divorced. “Nevertheless Amelia's sister Muriel was born two years after her” (Mrnussbaum.com). Through 1937-1934 Amelia Earhart broke many records such as the record for the longest flight by a woman, crossing the atlantic in the shortest time of 20 hours and 40 min, and the altitude record of 1400 feet(mrnussbaum.com).
