World Flight Amelia Earhart strove to be herself in any case, no matter whether it was when she slid under a horse on a sled, or when she was the first woman to fly over the Atlantic. But her greatest feat was trying to fly around the world. Everyone knows about this, but not many people know about her backstory, or what actually ended her trip around the world. Amelia Earhart was a strong woman (in some aspects) because of her independence, her devotion to rights, and courage. (need to only add parts about her backstory that connect with the thesis!!!!!)

Amelia Earhart or “The Babe of The Sky” most popular for being the first female aviator to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean, Setting a record for longest distance without refueling, First women to a fly nonstop transcontinental flight, also achieving many more honors all while also writing two books.While achieving another record; to be the first woman to fly around the world she suddenly disappeared on her voyage so close to the finish line.But what exactly happened to Amelia Earhart? Did she truly meet her doom in the ocean or could other theories surrounding her disappearance possibly be true? Let's look at Amelia Earhart before her disappearance. Born in Atchison, Kansas on July 24, 1897. A spirit of adventure seemed to consume the Earhart children. As a child, Earhart spent most of her time playing with her sister Pidge, climbing trees, sledding, and other outdoor play. In June 25, 1930 she set the women’s speed record for 100 kilometers. On July 5,1930 Earhart set a speed record of 181.18 miles per hour at 18.415 feet. On April 8, 1931 she set a woman’s autogiro altitude record at 18.415 feet. May 20-21, 1932 Earhart became the 1st woman to fly by herself across the Atlantic. The flight took her 15 hours and 16 minutes.

In 1917 she went to Canada to visit her sister. Amelia met World War I soldiers. Then she got motivated to go to college. She became a nurse. In 1930 her parents, which split up, gotten back together. They moved to California. Amelia also moved to California. Amelia worked several jobs to become a pilot. In 1927 she met Captain Riley. In 1928 Amelia was first to fly to Hawaii to California. She later joined a cross country race, which she won. She was in a group called “99”. She set off into the skies with Fred Noonan, an experienced navigator (Buchanan 10), in June 1937 for her flight around the world (Amelia Earhart). If she made it all the way around the world and back on this trip, she would be the first women ever to do so, but this was a very tough task that takes a lot of bravery. “For nearly a month, Earhart and Noonan flew from country to country, lofting over oceans, mountain ranges, deserts, towns, and cities. Everyone was stunned when she had disappeared and they had so many questions about how the flyers had vanished. George Putnam was the man who was mainly stunned about how disappearance. Geoge even made a book in here honor called “Soaring WIngs”. There were many reason on why she had disappeared but no one will ever know the real reason. Not only did Amelia fly across the Atlantic ocean but she made a huge change in society, she changed the view of woman. She was the first aviatrix (a female pilot) to cross the Atlantic ocean solo. In 1937 Amelia and her navigator Fred Noonan set out to travel around the world.

In 1941 using her mother's inheritance, Amelia purchased a small plane and nicknamed it “The Canary”, she was determined to make her name known. On October 22, 1922, she flew her plane to 14,000 feet. She beat the world altitude record for female pilots. On May 15, 1923, Amelia Earhart became the 16th woman to be issued a pilot's license by The Federation Aeronautique.

On May 20,1932, she took off Harbour Grace,Newfoundland. Immediately 12 hours  her plane had some difficulties and she needed a place to land. She was supposed to land in Paris but instead she landed in a small village in Ireland.She had did it. She was the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic. Her whole life was changed. She even received a  gold medal presented by President Hoover from National Geographic Society.In 1935, Amelia made her final flight .A flight that immediately changed the life of millions of Americans before and after.This flight was divided into numerous small flights with many stops.The point of this flight was to circle the world. Amelia was a woman who had the courage and independence to do what she wanted, such as being the first woman to cross the Atlantic Ocean on a plane.
