Ambition In Macbeth And Scar

The meaning of ambition is not always negative. Being ambitious can cause a strong drive to success. In Macbeth, there are two characters, Macbeth and Malcolm that represent good and evil ambitions. Same as Macbeth, the movie Lion King also has two comparisons of being ambitious. They are Scar and Simba. Both of Macbeth and the Lion King give examples of how ambitions have shown when the characters become ambitious because of their desires. However, I believe that ambition can be whether positive or negative. It depends on the goals and how one design the ways to achieve it.

He thinks that the reign will become his in one day. He lies to little Simba and also evokes Simba’s curiosity to try to kill Simba. Mufasa comes to safe his son for two times. When he almost falls from the cliff, Scar doesn’t save his brother. Meanwhile, Scar pushes Mufasa and kills him. It is so scary that ambition causes someone to sacrifice his most important sibling. At the same time, Simba escapes. They are both successful after they kill people to reach their goal. The reign that rules by Macbeth is horrible. According to Shakespeare’s words, “Each new morn new widows howl, new orphans cry, new sorrows strike heaven on the face, that it resounds as if it felt with Scotland and yelled out like syllable of dolor.” (4.3.4-8) This phrase states that people’s life is hard; many of them died everyday, which killed by the ruthless Macbeth. Scar also leads a dark reign. He brings the hyenas into their kingdom. He does not kill the animals, but the way he regulates is totally wrong. Essentially, Lions are on the top of the food chain; animals live peacefully in the kingdom when Mufasa is still the ruler. After the
