Amazonia is the largest tropical rainforest in the world. More than 2 million square miles of the region were covered by dense tropical forest. Unfortunetly, the inaccessability that protected part of the forest was taken away by the governments sponsoring of road building projects, colonization schemes, and industrial developments transforming the large beautiful areas of the Amazonia from forest to polluted factory sites. Just like Amazonia is the largest tropical rainforest in the world, the amazon river is the largest river in the world in terms of volume of water. 4,080 miles long, second to the Nile River, out of 365 days there are about 200 days of rainfall. The amazon river once flowed from the Atlantic ocean to the Pacific, the opposite
My team has discovered a new population of sloths in the Amazon Rainforest. The team has a job of figuring out three things regarding these sloths. The team has to determine if the new population is evolving, how it is related to other sloth populations near it, and if it is a different species than the other sloth populations.
My journey all started in the car. It was the last day of school, sunny and just a good day. We were listening to the radio and jamming out to the famous song “Schools Out.” As the song started to die down we dropped off Olivia, my little sister at school. Now it was time to take on the last day of school. As we were driving to my school, the radio man came on. He said “Be caller number 9 and you could win 4 tickets now for a trip to the Amazon Rainforest!!” We usually never call and try because we know that we would most likely not get it but for some reason my mom decides to call as soon as I'm getting out of the car. I ask her, “Why are you signing up?” She replies with “You never know until you try right?”
Tough Guise provides a stunning look at the violent, sexist, and homophobic messages boys and young men usually receive from virtually every corner of the culture, from television, movies, video games, etc. What does it takes to become a “Real Man?” Boys and men show the world parts of themselves that others define as manly. My initial reaction to Jackson Katz’s, “Tough Guise: Violence, Manhood and American Culture,” movie is I truly believe that video games and movies are a big part of violence.
Why did a poor black man lose a court case because he’s black? Why are girls told they have to sit and be pretty? Why does it matter if you are wealthy or poor? We are all people, aren’t we? The answer is prejudice. Harper Lee gives many examples, race, class, and gender, in her fascinating book To Kill a Mockingbird. In the town of Maycomb a white man takes a case about a black man (Tom) raping a white girl, but at court, everyone knows Tom shouldn’t be found guilty. But tom is found guilty. To Kill a Mockingbird takes place during the Great Depression. Throughout To Kill a Mockingbird, prejudice is shown as a good and bad thing. Prejudice is shown through race, class, and gender.

The most appropriate way to address land conflict in the Amazon rainforest is to stop deforestation. Because rubber tappers aren’t hurting the environment. They also make money/ living off of collecting the resources. The tappers have been tapping trees for their whole life. Although the rubber tappers have to put cuts in the trees to get the rubber resources out it doesn’t hurt the trees.
1. The narrator in “Young Goodman Brown” would be the author himself, Nathaniel Hawthrone. The story is written in third person limited omniscient. 2. The forest is symbolic of evil or viewed as the home of the devil.
Long, long ago, in a lively and vibrant tropical rainforest in Brazil, there lived three birds. First, there was Kiwi the parrot. He was the most beautiful bird in all of Brazil. His colorful feathers and bright plumage never failed to turn heads. Next, there was Victor the peacock. His gorgeous royal blue color and alluring tail feathers attracted all of the females. Last, and probably least, there was Toko the toucan. He had dull, dark feathers, and a short, ugly beak. Because of this, poor Toko had no friends and endured a lot of teasing.
The Amazon Rainforest is home to a vast amount of biological diversity as well as many important ecological communities making it an important region to conserve and protect from damaging, extractive practices (Bowles 1998). However, many people, including myself, rely on this region for more than its environmental benefits. I use the forest for mining gold, a hugely important part of our country’s economy and future (Cremers 2013). I understand the importance of preservation but the government needs to set aside some land for miners like myself to use legally as well as make it easier for miners to go about their work in efficient, productive ways.
Tropical rainforests are among the most threatened ecosystems due to large scale as a result of human activity. Habitat fragmentation caused by geological processes such as volcanism and climate change occurred in the past, and have been identified as important drivers . However, fast human driven habitat destruction is suspected to be one of the major causes of species.Tropical rain forests have been subjected to heavy logging and agricultural clearance throughout the 20th century, and the area covered by rainforests around the world is shrinking.
