Alzheimer’s disease, a life threatening disease that attacks your brain tissues. Imagine being a high school student whose grandfather is suffering from Alzheimer's Disease; always on the lookout waiting for him to show up unpleasant doing random tasks in the night. Alzheimer's Disease is a leading cause of death in the United States. There are 500,000 deaths yearly, and research shows that in 2050, 100 million will be diagnosed worldwide with as many as 16 million in the states (Marsa).
While the signs and symptoms of Alzheimer's Disease can help with diagnosis, treatment options available may only slow the progression. Alzheimer's Disease is still an unknown disease thousands of studies and experiments have been performed. This disease is a looming avalanche, waiting to attack, destroying his or her future thought by thought. Alzheimer's Disease will start years or even decades before discovering signs and symptoms of dementia(Park). Research shows Alzheimer's Disease has very few treatments available, but the few that are available have the same process. They all focus on eliminating the toxic proteins from the brain before they turn into plaques. Which plaques will eventually build up to form brain defects(Marsa). The only problem with treating Alzheimer’s is that we start treatment to late. This means we need to start focusing on the disease before it becomes a problem. Early prevention can be simple as investing time in his or her health. Stay moving constantly in shape which increases your heart rate. Check your vitamins, low levels of homocysteine will cause an entrance for Alzheimer’s disease. Use that brain, challenge the brain mentally this will exercise different parts of the brain to keep from long-term brain damage(Turner).
