Ton 2 Nhat Ton Business Law Mrs. Dettner P: 5 "Although the movie Philadelphia contains many issues centering around homosexuality and discrimination, upheld by today's society, it is evident that attitudes about these issues are constantly changing with the ever changing values of society." Refer to the movies to give specific examples that you agree/disagree with this statement. In my personally, I agree with this statement that attitudes about these issues are constantly changing with the ever changing values of society. Through the movie Philadelphia, the Board of director in Andrew Beckett's firm fired him by excuse that Andrew is incompetent because he had lost his paperwork and almost ruins their important case – Highline; they said
Employees need to know that their ethical or unethical choices will have a direct impact on the success or failure of the company.
He adopts an ambivalent tone in order to examine the conflicting views of high school genre films. Denby’s purpose in writing this essay is to show how the overuse of these stereotypes results in few original teen films. Original movies expose their viewers to a diverse range of people and ways of thinking. Adolescents often mirror or find inspiration in the characters they see in media, so it is important to depict a variety of people in media targeted towards them. People of various sexual orientations should be represented more prominently and truthfully in media targeted towards children in order to promote acceptance and provide role models for those exploring their identity.
Unfortunately, statistics and logic are rarely enough to persuade an audience about a topic, especially if that topic is emotional. Zimmerman handles this by using rhetorical examples which appeal to the audience’s emotions to her advantage. Specifically, she includes characters, titles, and quotes from movies. This works because many members of Zimmerman’s audience are movie enthusiasts, which is reasonable to conclude since The Daily Beast “delivers award-winning original reporting and sharp opinion in the arena of . . . pop-culture” (“About Us”). For instance, consider the statement that, “when even a show like Glee . . . makes fun of the ‘myth’ of bisexuality, it’s clear that bisexual representation . . . is still stuck in the dark ages” (Zimmerman 565). By using Glee as an example in this quote, Zimmerman creates a feeling of relatability with the Glee fan base while also showing them how a movie they love is unfairly representing bisexuals. This feeling of relatability makes the audience more receptive to Zimmerman’s argument.
The question is whether No Country for Old Men and Stagecoach provide adequate examples of the decline in American moral values. From my perspective of today’s world and my interpretation of No Country for Old Men and Stagecoach, I can see how the argument could be made that they have declined or haven’t changed at all. I see a difference between the relationship of Ringo and Dallas vs other members of their traveling group compared to Sheriff Bell vs Chigurh. These relationships, in my opinion, explains a lot about the development of moral values, or lack of, in the western United States. In this paper, I will describe the moral values that are represented in each movie and I will also try to describe my understanding of why American moral values may have declined between No Country for Old Men and Stagecoach.
For my written task, I decided to analyze how the movie ‘Little Giants’ impact my cousin’s behavior toward the society. I tried to convey how this particular movie from Disney influences young viewers, especially young girls because young girls seem to be the target audience and most likely to watch such type of movie. I chose to write an analysis on gender stereotype of the movie ‘Little Giants’ because the movie show how the main character overcame herself to break the gender role in the society. So I have decided to use an example from my cousin because I believed that when my cousin watched the movie, the main character somehow lightened her of how a girl can do anything she wanted to do without any worry about gender roles. I tried to
The American Revolution is almost like the civil war but, it is split in three parts instead of two, happened in late 1700s. The movie, The Patriot, is a fictional movie that shows us the battles and life during American Revolution. Some people were forced to fight because their family members died and some did not fight because they did not wanted to risk their family even though both sides are die-hearted patriot. Family could make people do anything. The producers of the movie The Patriot, Dean Devlin, Mark Gordon, and Gary Levinsohn, chose a composite of different colonists, like Francis Marion, Colonel Daniel Morgan, Elijah Clark, Thomas Sumter, and Andrew Pickens, to make Benjamin Martin look better and the hero with no fault what-so-ever.
This movie is a great example of social groups, leadership, culture, norms, society, nature and nurture, and social lives. This movie represents how the American culture chooses our social class in society. Some sociologists believed that lifestyle choices are an important influence on our social class position (Giddens, 209). Our class position is the way we dress, where we eat, where we sleep, and how we relax (Giddens,
"I would not think of quarreling with your interpretation nor offering any other, as I have found it always the best policy to allow the film to speak for itself."
I was very bothered by the comments Anita Bryant made during a televised speech that was shown in the film. She was an orange juice sales woman who was working to repeal laws that protect homosexual human rights; specifically in employment and housing. She described homosexuality as “tearing down the foundation of the family unit” and compared gays to prostitutes and thieves. She tried to convince the public that the traditional family was being threatened and that practicing or accepting homosexuality was blasphemy.
In my eyes, a gay person should not be treated less equal than a straight person. I believe two people of the same races should be treated equal and have the same opportunities. When I was thinking about what I wanted to write for this assignment I thought
3) One of the films would be Erin Brockovich, were Erin is judge for being a single mom based on her appearance she is also label as a whore an example would be Ed that tells her that she looks like someone that likes to have fun, these is of course the stereotypes that society inputs on her. Erin in the film does not meet the ideologies of being femininity and at the end we see that she does succeed at work but her love life and family gets scarified by these.
This movie begins by depicting a bright articulate young lawyer named Andrew Beckett at work. Then the scene rapidly changes to Andrew at an AIDS clinic. You know at this point that Andrew Beckett has AIDS and a horrifying future as you see scenes of men with hollow expressions, open sores and skeleton-like features. It becomes obvious that Andrew was not telling his boss or coworkers that he has AIDS. Later we discover that he concealed this disease because he was afraid of being fired and people’s fear of him as a sick gay man.
is no law saying that every film involving cross-racial relationships has to make some kind of defining statement about racism or race-relations in general, but there should be a rule against painting such broad character strokes using painfully obvious and patronizing stereotypes.” (Mendelson’s Memos)
Certain stereotypes have stood the test of time, no matter how many strides for racial equality have been made. Sandra Bullock’s character made the statement about the relationship between white and black people: “If a white woman sees two black men walking
68% of the people believe that males are more prone to imitate the movies compared to females. However the impact of the movies is not that big since the people said they only somewhat(4.9/10) agreed that the films impacted the crimes and violence in young boys and
