All Summer In Day by Ray Bradbury shows the reader that jealousy can lead a person to do cruel and mean things to classmates and peers. Kids didn’t believe and criticized her and judged her. No one believed she wrote a poem and when she described the sun no one believed her. One arguments someone could make is that desire could be a larger theme than jealousy. This isn't true because the kids got jealous of Margot and then desired, they can’t desire because they have never seen the sun. Margot was also mistreated by classmates. She was shoved and locked away in a closet. Jealousy can make people do man and cruel things to classmates and peers.

There are many different emotions like sadness, happiness, and joyfulness just to name a few that people can experience. One of the most powerful and sometimes dangerous emotions is Jealousy. Jealousy is a powerful emotion that most people experience at some point in their life. However, not everyone is affected in the same way. Some people are filled with insecurity. While others are filled with fear. Most people experience anger. In William Shakespeare’s Othello the audience learns through the characterization of Othello and Iago, the symbolism of the handkerchief, and through Othello denying that he is jealous we learn that jealousy can make people behave irrationally in certain circumstances.

Greed and or Jealousy can lead to bad actions, choices and results. It can happen to one person or multiple people no matter what age they are. This is shown in three stories, “Ponies” written by Kij Johnson, “All Summer in a Day” written by Ray Bradbury and in “Harrison Bergeron” written by Kurt Vonnegut. In “Ponies” there are a group of girls who invited one to a “cutting-out” party. Where a pony picks two of the three thing she has to be cut off for her and her owner to join the club. In “All Summer in a Day,” the girl, Margot knows about the sun while the rest of the kids do not know about the sun - or they do not remember it. Last, in “Harrison Bergeron,” the government forced people to be equal making them wear things they called “handicaps.” In all of these stories it shows how greed and or jealousy can lead to bad actions, choices and results.

The short story All Summer in A Day, by Ray Bradbury is about the power of jealousy and demonstrates if jealousy is not controlled, it will lead to regretful actions upon yourself. Jealousy is a key topic in the story, and in my opinion, is the main topic of the story. Although, there are other key topics in the story. All Summer in A Day is about a group of kids, who all their lives have been living in a world, Venus, with no sun and the constant sound of rain. Then there is Margot. Margot knows what it is like to have the sun shining down on her skin, she knows what it is like to feel the warm embrace of the sky. So she can remember the sun. For this, they are very jealous of her. Margot shares her memories and the kids are upset they won’t ever feel what she felt. Therefore, one thing leads to another and their jealousy controls them. This causes them to do stuff that one would probably never do if it weren’t for the green-eyed monster. Their actions would soon teach them how can harm others and, inadvertently, themselves.

When a person first thinks of murder, envy probably is not their second thought, but it should be their third. Statistically speaking, jealousy ranks number three in the most common motives for manslaughter. So although it may seem like a simple enough emotion, many feelings coincide. To most, it is a stressful and unwanted inner conflict that can cause or further aggravate thoughts of insecurity and inadequacy. Also, apparently, violence-inducing rage.

My theme would be jealousy. I believe Abigail shows traits of jealousy because she is angry at Elizabeth for taking her reputation away. She is an unmarried girl who is an orphan who wants to get revenge on Elizabeth. Often, they also bully her physically and emotionally, just because she has seen something that they haven’t, and they start to feel jealousy towards her. The author of this story is trying to teach sto the reader that, jealousy controls people's minds in a negative way, and the consequences are majorly

People feel envy about other’s wealth, looking, and job. Pride is what causes envy, as human beings people do not like it when others are better. Some people say envy is a sickness, but some people say that is a motivation to be better. Although envy and jealousy are similar, but they are two different things according to studies.
