The most frightening horror story can only be called such if it is believable. Nothing is so unnerving as lying awake at night with very real fears. No monster can harm you, unless the monster was genetically engineered by a mad scientist. The theme of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein - scientific investigation without consideration of morality and responsibility - is a very relevant topic in today's world. This theme, along with the less obvious themes of revenge, prejudice against deviation from the norm, and fate all make Frankenstein one of the most unique and terrifying horror novels ever.

In Mary Shelley’s novel, Frankenstein, we are told the story of a man named Victor Frankenstein who figures out how to bring something to life. He constructs a human like body and brings it to life, only to discover he has made a hideous Monster. When the Monster learns how to speak, decipher hunger and thirst, and function as a human, he discovers that how lonely and depressing his life is. Deciding to get revenge on his creator, he kills Frankenstein's brother, best friend, and wife, while framing the servant for his brother's murder. With his family gone, Frankenstein decides to hunt down the Monster, but fails when he dies on a fellow sailing crew’s ship. In the novel “Frankenstein” by Mary Shelley, a terrifying monster with destructive tendencies is created. The inventor of this monster, Victor Frankenstein, gave himself an impossible goal to complete. The monster was created at the University of Ingolstadt “on a dreary night in November” (Shelley, Pg.58), it was then that Victor accomplished his goal of reanimating the dead. The monster then went out to be brutally judged by society. The monster is the murderer of many and was a contribution to the deaths of others. He killed William, Henry, and Elizabeth and impacted the deaths of Victor and Justine. In spite of these horrible acts of violence, readers still sympathize with the monster.

I thin that the prom was interesting. I feel this way because of how the Alice in Wonderland theme was excuted. Another reason I feel this way is because the decorations had this crazy and weird atmosphere that fits the dream like qualities of Wonderland. For example, the decorations had gaint tea cups with flowers and cards inside of them, gaint glowing mushrooms, and a giant drink me bottles( a refernce about Alice in Wonderland that implies that you drank it and shrunk) to show qualities of a dream like atmosphere. Most importantly, I found that the food and refreshments that were served to be surprisingly, the most interesting part of the prom. We have all heard of the big scary monster of Frankenstein. It has been a story told through decades, each story a little different.

Lewis Carroll's use of puns and riddles in Alice in Wonderland help set the theme and tone. He uses word play in the book to show a world of warped reality and massive confusion. He uses such play on words to reveal the underlying theme of ‘growing up', but with such an unusual setting and ridiculous characters, there is need for some deep analyzing to show this theme. The book contains many examples of assonance and alliteration to add humor. Carroll also adds strange diction and extraordinary syntax to support the theme.

In the story ”Frankenstein” a scientist creates a monster that commits multiple murders throughout the book, but the creature wasn’t born a monster, he was made into one through his master’s and other human’s actions. Many people might believe that the creature is in fact a horrible, cold-hearted monster, but they often overlook the factors that have made him into a one.

Throughout the novel Frankenstein written by Mary Shelley, the creature is subjected to countless acts of violence and rejection. For a monster to develop, one must have been formerly exploited either by an individual or their society. The creature is not only a physical product of science, but his atrocious behavior is also an explicit result of Victor’s actions toward him. The creature was not born a monster, but slowly morphed into one as he experiences violence and rejection from his society.

As many months pass in the eighteenth century, Dr. Victor Frankenstein creates a giant monster out of other deceased humans. As soon as the monster comes to life, the monster was immediately despised by everyone who he had seen, but the monster just wanted a friend. Nobody seemed to be kind enough to accept the monster.

Every night, after a long, tiresome day in second grade, I would curl up in bed and beg my Mother to read me one of my favorite books, Peter Pan. There was something always magical about Peter Pan that helped me escape the daily events of the real world. Whether it was his capability to fly, difficulty to find his shadow, or ability to never grow old, the story of Peter Pan has stuck with me and has helped shaped me into who I am today.

Oh you think your family is embarrassing? Try having a satirical father, an idiot mother, a nerd for a middle sister, and two flirts as younger sisters. In the world of Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austen, one’s family’s behavior reflects on them, so if one’s youngest sister runs off with a fool who’s in debt, it could turn out to be their worst nightmare. Or if one’s oldest daughter marries an incredibly rich and handsome young man, they’re in for some glory. Although the real romance occurs between Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy, which was love- oops, hate at first sight. In this most compelling novel, Austen most definitely portrays a satiric attitude toward family, but also shows her seriousness on the topic as well.

Although the James Whale movies, which no doubt created the iconic image of the Creature, do not refer to Victor’s creation as “Frankenstein”, later films, shows and parodies do. This identity that society has created for Victor Frankenstein’s originally unnamed creation is interesting due to several reasons. For one, Frankenstein, who is essentially the Creature’s father, abandons his child without even giving him a name; which in and of itself dehumanizes the Creature a great deal. As the culture of Frankenstein began to develope and grow larger, the audience gave the Creature the name “Frankenstein”, thereby humanizing him more than he was in the novel, while at the same time physically and emotionally making him more of a dehumanized monster than he ever was. It could also be considered ironic that the Creature be given the name of the man who caused him so much pain.
