The Alfalfa Weevils were first discovered around the Salt Lake City, Utah are around 1904. The weevils slowly started to increase its population, by 1951 they were discovered in Maryland. Within fifteen years the weevils had spread throughout the twenty five Eastern United States (Cothran et al. 1966). The insects are originally from throughout parts of Europe, Asia, and Africa. The Alfalfa Weevils belong to the beetle family known as Coleoptera, these types of beetles are broken down into a class called the Snout-Beetles (Titus, 19). These insects hibernate during the winter months, when the early springs hit they emerge; right around the time when the alfalfa starts to come back in season. Within this time the beetles begin to lay eggs,
The red necked cane borer, Agrilus ruficollis (F.), is a buprestid beetle that infests wild and cultivated blackberries and raspberries in the eastern states from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico. Adults are about 6-7 mm (1/4 inch) long, with an iridescent coppery pronotum. A related species, Agrilus rubicola, may occur concurrently. This species is uniform in color, ranging from copper-colored to iridescent green. On galled plants, there is less live vegetative growth and more dead wood. There is often reduced berry size and number, as well as vegetative growth with increasing number of galls per plant. Affected canes may not produce fruit. Canes weakened by galls are more subject to winter injury.
On Tuesday, October 3rd, 2017, several samples of random bean beetles were sorted by gender and size. 6 groups sorted 5 males and 5 females, making for a total of 60 bean beetles. All beetles were measured under a Dissection 3D Microscope to approximate their torso length. After this was accomplished for every beetle in every group, a large data table was compiled to compare sizes. The 10 smallest and 10 largest beetles were each placed in their own respective bean “habitat,” and 10 random beetles from the remaining pool were also placed in their own bean “habitat.” These habitats were nearly identical to avoid unnecessary variability. The goal of the experiment will be to produce significant evidence to either reject the null hypothesis that bean beetle size has no correlation with survivability as a species, or to reject the alternative hypothesis that bean beetle size has some correlation with survivability as a species.
In this experiment, we tested three different environments, soil, sand, and a leafy mixture to see which one a pill bug would prefer the most. Originally, we believed that the pill bug would find the leafy substance to be most favorable. Five pill bugs and then a single pill bug was placed in the center so that it could select one of the substrates. The data collected at the end of the experiment opposed our original hypothesis as we discovered that the most favored environment was the soil. This finding could correlate with the dark color of the soil closely matching the color of the pill bug or the moisture in the soil.
During the last decade, redbanded stink bug has emerged as a major stink bug pest species in Louisiana. The economic threat from redbanded stink bug is also rapidly increasing in the Mid-South and Southeastern region of the United States as it continues to expand its geographical range. Since redbanded stink bug is relatively new species in the existing sting bug complex, there is a lack of information about this pest compared to other stink bugs. One of the gaps in our present understanding is its potential spring hosts where its population can build up before migrating to soybean. Field observations have revealed that red banded stink bugs were present in high numbers on leguminous host like medic, clovers and vetch along rights-of-way, ditches
Saturday July 11th Little G Weevil will be performing at the world renown Bradfordville Blues Club. Little G Weevil was born July 6, 1977. The emerald ash borer, Agrilus planipennis, is a beetle that was first discovered in 2002 in the US near the Detroit area and southeastern portions of Michigan. This beetle is believed to have originated in Asia. The theory is that they arrived in the states in packing material made of wood on cargo ships traveling on the St. Lawrence River, which then leads into the Great Lakes. Since 2002, this beetle has made its way into parts of Canada and now in at least eighteen states in the US (Emerald, n.d.). They are causing major destruction of Ash trees in all of these areas, and Vermont is starting to take precautions to be prepared if and when these beetles show up in The Green Mountain
The creosote bush grasshopper has a simple body. It has a rounded head capsule which contains the compound eyes, chewing mouth parts, and the short thread-like antennae, which are always shorter than the rest of body (Estella, 2009). The middle thoracic segments and part of the abdomen are covered by a type of hard shield called a pronotum which extends from the first thoracic segment. The forewings are leathery but they are not used for flight. Instead, they protect the delicate hind wings. They also have long jumping hind legs, which enable them to leap well over 20 times their body length (Anonymous, 2015).
The Boll Weevil is a beetle. A drought is when an area has no rainfall for a long period of time. The Boll Weevil feeds on flowers and lay eggs in the flower buds of cotton. The Boll Weevil came from Mexico to Georgia to destroy the cotton plantation in the 1890s. A Drought came in Georgia and caused destruction on the crops also. Since the crops and cotton were destroyed, farmers could not pay people to pick them. So, many people lost jobs, and banks that loaned money to farms took huge L’s. Also, most working farms fell. The Boll Weevil and the Drought destroyed Georgia’s farms and its crops, including cotton. Since the cotton was gone, the Boll Weevil
In the article” When mosquitoes were killers in America” by Lauren Tarshis, there is evidence that discussed how mosquitoes were far more than a nuisance. The article talked about the symptoms of having malaria. Tarshis said,”Those who become sick get high fevers, bone - rattling chills, and painful muscle aches.” It must have been very painful for people in the olden days who had malaria. The current generation is very lucky because there are medicines that reduce pain. Malaria is a deadly disease caused by mosquitoes sucking blood and transferring the blood to another human's body. Tarshis talked about how many people die in a year due to mosquitoes. The article says” In this way, bite by itchy bite, 212 million people are infected with malaria

God perfectly designed every animal to be fully capable to live their lives just how the need to. Each animal is way too complex to evolved into another form. To proof this, I will show you some amazing animals that God has created. The European Green Woodpecker's tongue comes from the back of the throat, travels from the back of its head, through its nostril, and out of its mouth. Clearly that is way too complex to be evolved, and evolutionist have no idea how because no other animal has that type of tongue. The Bombardier Beetle manufactures chemicals that makes a explosion to protect itself. There's no way that this bug could evolve, it needs all of its parts their all at once or you don't have the animal. God created this bug was created
Report includes political, economic, social and technological factors. This analysis is done in order to predict the future impacts of these factors on Arcadia Group. The main points are discussed:
The hills across the valley of the Ebro’ were long and white. The long and white hills, which would later be referred to as White Elephants, by Jig, a character in Ernest Hemingway’s short story, “Hills like White Elephants”. The reference is a symbolic meaning in relation to her and the operation that was supposed to take place within the story. I believe hills as if a white elephant was a reference to the character Jig’s pregnancy, which is never directly told in the story. Throughout the story, it is supposed to be determined by the reader’s analysis to conclude whether the reference was to a pregnancy in the discussion between the two or not.
In 1993 Volkswagen had record low sales but by the end of 1997 the VW brand had sold 137,885 cars. That was an increase of 178% from it’s 1993 slump. It is safe to say that the the ’94 relaunch of VW on the American Market was a success. The “Drivers Wanted” campaign, developed by Arnold Communications, I believe was successful as a result of excellent market research and positioning.
