On January 30, 27 year old Alexandre Bissonnette opened fire on a Quebec city Islamic Cultural Center, killing six attendants of the service. He was initially described a “lone wolf”, angering many more semantically minded people, claiming the act was one of terrorism. Bissonnette is described as a far-right nationalist, who called for more strict muslim restrictions and vetting. This one of the many act of violence relating to muslims in Canada, the last being a 2014 shooting of a Canadian soldier by Michael Zehaf-Bibeau. In 2015, a mosque in Ontario was set on fire following the infamous Paris Terrorist attack. There have been, in fact, four mass shootings in Canada since 2014.

Bissonnette killed 6 and injured multiple others in the church. As a result of the attack, Bissonnette is being charged with six counts of first-degree murder and five attempted murder charges. The attack is being considered an act of terrorism and a hate crime due to Bissonnette’s specific targeting of the Islamic people in the mosque. Witnesses claimed that he fired blindly into a crowd of worshipers containing men, women and children. Even with this act, the terror level in Canada remains unchanged resting at a medium threat level (Goodale). Bissonnette

In the following paragraphs Kamdar compares the United States' attacks to her own countries and admits that France, along with other European countries, are also not free of mass shootings. "In France, one of the worst mass shootings that was not terrorist-related happened in 1995, when Éric Borel, 16, shot and killed 12 people, including three members of his own family" (Kamdar 4). Kamdar also chooses to describe four other situations where there was a shooting that led to deaths

Oscar Micheaux was born on the date of October 2, 1884. The area in which he was born in was in Metropolis, Illinois. Oscar’s last name was confused on either being pronounced with Mee-show, or Mi-shaw, though it is unknown. In fact, that is one of the mysteries surrounding him. Micheaux had 4 brothers and 6 sisters, born with his father and mother there with him. His father, whose name was Calvin, could not read nor write, and left the child caring to Micheaux’s mother Bell. As a young boy, he cleaned shoes, as well as worked as a porter on a railroad. As he grew older, he became a homesteader. Surprisingly, this was in an all White area. Micheaux dealt with the problem of racism by creating his own publishing company, and selling books
An Islamic student living in Paris says “When you look at a Muslim it is tough” and his has definitely been the case for many non muslim Parisians looking for answers to the senseless lives taken. The Muslim community have expressed their thoughts on this matter and have stated that they are not shocked at the attacks as Muslims but has Parisian citizens. France Muslims have urged others to believe that during the attacks it wouldn't have mattered if you were muslim or christian ,your life was at risk and together as Parisians they will stand to
Charles Deslondes was born in the year approximately 1780. He was born in Saint-Domingue where he experienced a good portion of his life (Charles Deslondes Revolt 1811). The decade which progressed with Charles Deslondes was one where society where slaves, Creoles, and mulattoes had an unequal dynamic. The dynamic of the three supposed that the French Creoles had absolute rights within Saint-Domingue while mulattoes enjoyed more comfort during slavery and the slaves just were there to work on the sugar fields for economic progression (Meltzer, 115). The Creoles were French and they were in charge primarily due to
One recent and tragic international example was the killing of Charles de Menezes, an innocent Brazilian man, in London, England following the July 7, 2005, subway bombings. Because de Menezes was brown skinned, he was mistaken for a terrorist, with fatal consequences. Another fatal incident was the shooting death of a young Aboriginal leader, J.J.Harper, on March 9, 1988. Harper was stopped by a Winnipeg police officer, who had mistaken him for a car thief. A scuffle ensued and Harper was shot, and killed. Harper allegedly had nothing in common with the suspect who was being sought other than his Aboriginal
A report that was released by the United States Justice Department on February 12, 2016, showed that a “Florida man pleads guilty to a hate crime for threatening to firebomb two mosques and shoot worshippers.” The 43-year-old man by the name Martin Alan Schnitzler was arrested by the FBI on November 17, 2015, after he made numerous threats to shoot children in the head and firebomb a mosque in Petersburg, Florida. In his two recorded messages, Schnitzler said that he is watching the news report that covered the terrorist attacks in Paris. In these attacks, 130 lives were lost while more than 300 were seriously injured. Those responsible for these series of attacks were members of a terrorist group known as the Islamic States of Iraq and Levant (ISIL). Since ISIL members claim to be practicing Muslims and also fighting for the cause of Islam (Jihad), Schnitzler showed the same enmity he has for the ISIL terrorists to his non-violence Muslim neighbors. For this reason, he wanted to avenge the death of the victims of the Paris attacks by firebombing and shooting his Muslim neighbors’ two-year-old children in the head.

The United States has had over 350 mass shootings in 2015 alone. There is no specific criteria for mass shootings besides that there are multiple victims and it seems to be at random. There are several reasons why a mass shooting may occur. The most recent mass shooting happened this month in California and it happened at a home for the mentally ill. Thought that bismuth is the newest discovered metal in human history? Wrong. Bismuth is already known for a longer period of time. It is a bright metal with a white color and that is exactly where the name ‘bismuth’ comes from. About five hundred years ago a Swiss scientist Theophrastus Bombastus von Hohenheim (1493 – 1541) used the metal, a mineral that was drawn (gemutet) in the fields (in den Wiesen) in Saxony. This caused the Swiss scientist to come up with the name ‘wissmut’. And because of the white colour of the material the ‘weissmuth’ or ‘wissmuth’ was a logical appellation. Eventually the scientist, who was better known as Paracelsus, mentioned the word ‘Bisemutum’, the latin term for the german word. And that is how we use to name
