Alexander Hamilton's Influence On The Political System

Decent Essays

Have you ever heard the phrase, “Nobody’s perfect”? Well, it’s true. Nobody is perfect, especially not Alexander Hamilton. Hamilton was a Founding Father of the United States and America’s first Secretary of Treasury. He was a great political leader and he was incredibly intelligent. He influenced the political system extremely. One way by founding the first National Bank, although many people disagreed with this decision. Another way he influenced the United States was that he made many great political decisions that changed the country in different ways. And he had enemies, sure (Such as Thomas Jefferson and eventually Aaron Burr), but can you think of one person who doesn’t? Everybody has their flaws, even Hamilton. The New York Post is a daily newspaper that is still used to this day. It was established in 1801 and it is known as the 13th-oldest newspaper in the United States. It is a very popular source that provides people information about current news that is going on around them. He created it in order to make people aware of Jefferson and it was mainly for the Anti-Jefferson Federalist Party, which he also created. When Alexander was a teenager, he dabbled in poetry. He was pretty good. When a hurricane struck his town, he wrote a letter describing it in great detail. He was then sent to New York to get a better education. He fought in the Revolutionary War, and the oldest unit in the United State’s army is actually Hamilton’s. During the war, he met George Washington and he ended up working for him, helping him out with important decision making and such. This furiated the French because they believed that America was on their side. They felt betrayed, but it was best for America because they just weren’t ready for war at the moment. So, it was a good idea for Hamilton to persuade Washington to follow through with this decision. Although Hamilton was a good political leader, he has made some mistakes in his life as well (Information from …show more content…

He’s lashed out multiple times to politically important people, proving that he has an ill-tempered side that probably wasn’t best for government, and he’s made personal mistakes as well, such as cheating on his wife. Not to mention, his financial mistakes as well. And how his own stupidity caused him to lose his own life. But, he was a very good political leader. And everyone makes mistakes sometimes because, again, nobody’s perfect. When someone makes a mistake, no matter how big that mistake may be, it’s important to understand that you make sure not to make the same mistake again. And as far as I’m concerned, Alexander Hamilton never made the same mistake twice. It’s one thing to make mistakes, but it’s another to continue to make the same mistake over and over again. By that time, it’s obvious you didn’t learn your lesson the first time. Alexander Hamilton, as far as I know, learned from his mistakes. He knew the difference between right and wrong. And that helped him gain new knowledge and experience that would’ve helped him become a better leader. If you haven’t made any mistakes in life, then you won’t improve much at all. So, in my opinion, His mistakes could be easily ignored because of how much he improved as a leader because of the mistakes he made. His mistakes shows how much growth me has made throughout his life (All information used so far in paragraphs
