To get to alaska people take many routes, like the all water route, the all Canadian route or the Skagway(Dyea) route. The all water Route is expensive but a safer way to alaska, it goes from seattle and goes through the gulf of Alaska to get to St. Michael's which is a couple days walk from Dawson. The Canadian route comes from the south west of dawson river though Canada, this is a foot route and it’s very dangerous. The Skagway, another foot Route, walks along the Pacific ocean up to Dawson city. That is the most common Route to Dawson city.
Roads today are either under construction or in need of construction. In the year 1811, Washington and Jefferson advocated on the idea to aid western expansion, so work on the “National Road” or “Cumberland Road”. This is the first road that was surveyed by Congress in 1806-7 and built from 1811-37. This road branched from the Cumberland, MD. In order to create this massive road, it had to under very crucial measurements.
Various roads and their influence on the west are explored in chapter 9, “The Power of the Road” in The American West: A New Interpretive History by authors Robert V. Hine and John Mack Faragher.

The Alaska Purchase happened back in 1867 followed by the Russia’s defeat in the Crimean War. The Russian Empire believed that the Russia Alaska was strategically difficult colony to defend against the British Columbia. The Russian Empire was already in financial troubles before the Crimean War but the loss increased the debt. For that reason, Czar Alexander II decided to sell it and attempted to sell it to the United States.

Yes, this book does have a message and it is moral. The main purpose of the author is to tell a story about the Alaskan landscape and about the Alaska experience of a couple who have always wanted a child and when they do have one it dies so they decide to move up to Alaska to start their new life their so that they can forget about their old life. The passage that I am going to use is in Chapter One the Wolverine River, Alaska 1920. “She had imagined that in the Alaska Wilderness silence would be peaceful, like snow falling at night, air filled with promise but no sound, but that was not what she found. Instead, when she swept the plank floor, the broom bristles stitched like some sharp toothed shrew nibbling at her heart. When she washed
Sipping on iced-cold sweet tea, I watch multiple waiters gather up and begin line dancing to loud country music that plays in the background. By the time im almost halfway through with my beverage and almost full due to the warm, freshly baked rolls, a smiling waitress brings my family our food. She kindly places down our meal, tells us to enjoy and leaves to let us chow down. Resting on the plate in front of me is a thick, juicy piece of rib eye steak thats paired with loaded mashed potatoes and freshly cooked vegetables. Texas Roadhouse has come to be one of my favorite restaurantst to dine at. They provide excellent food complimented by great service and the unique atmosphere of the restaurant is full of energy and always has some type of entertainment going on.
Harm reductions recognizes an individual’s willingness to make a change in their life, there is a wide range that these individuals may be along, from not thinking about change, to contemplating change, to taking action, to maintaining change and the other way around. The method of harm reduction first begins with focusing on what stage the individual is on with their drug use. As earlier stated the active participation of individuals who use drugs is at the heart of harm reduction. These individuals are the best source of information in terms of their own drug use and are determined with the help of other service agencies to determine the best form of intervention. There have been many success stories from having injection sites as a form
We live in a world blanketed by the darkness of ignorance. Instead of blindly searching for the black or white answers, we must defeat the enemy by moving toward common ground. Currently in politics, we see the negative effect of polarization as the presidential campaign has become candidate centered rather than issue centered. We see the candidates resort to bully-like tactics where they attack each other personally, rather than focusing on the issues at hand. While it is said that polarity is an integral part of nature, we need our differences to bring us together as a whole, rather than drive us apart. Polarization is inevitable due to the unique design of every individual, but issues are seen as either black or white, when really
Ice and snow. The snow is slippery and wet in alaska so that makes it hard to travel. So instead of going on boat they had to go on foot because the ice was so hard. The mountains are hard too, it’s hard because it’s hard because you had to climb the mountains to get to there destination so with tons of supplies they ha to climb the mountains and walk thousands of miles especially on the ice and snow and the snow is more than 12 feet high and even on the mountains it is slippery with the ice so they could fall with all the weight on their back . when people travel on foot in Alaska it is hard because the snow and ice and when you were walking thousands of

The world, as we know it, is in the midst of having an oil crisis. Our nation starves and bends at the will of this dreadful calamity. Our deprivation for this atrocious corruption has led us to look for oil deposits in the Alaskan Wilderness. The US needs oil and by drilling for oil on our own land, we would help our economy, but in doing so would destroy the beauty of the wilderness and harm many others. The matter on hand is that should we drill for oil in Alaska’s wilderness? My opinion and answer to this question would simply be no. The United States of America should not drill for oil in the Alaskan wilderness.
Today is the day! I get to visit the Rocky Mountains. I have never seen the Rocky Mountains. Also, I am going on their 100th anniversary. The Rocky Mountains have been there for over 300 million years. In 2015, Rocky Mountain National Park was the third most visited national park with over 4.1 million visitors. I have to get there early because it will be packed. The temperature can drop up to 20 degrees on top of the mountains, so I better bring a jacket.
According to the 2011 India census there are approximately 28 million Christians (Knapp). This number equates to about 80% of the total population of Canada. To some this would seem that Christianity is flourishing in India. However, the total population of India is 1.25 billion; Christianity only makes up approximately 2.2 per cent of the entire population, while Hinduism makes up 79.8 per cent and Islam 14.2 per cent. Further, since 1951, there has not been a significant increase in the rate of Christians when compared with the total Indian population as it has hovered around 2.3 per cent (Knapp). It is worth noting however that since 1951 the total Christian population in India has grown from around 8 million people to the 28 million it is today (Knapp). It has since been over two thousand years since Christianity was first introduced to India by Thomas, the apostle; it can be argued that Christianity has had a difficult time flourishing as it is a very distant third as the religion of choice in India. This paper will discuss some of the obstacles that have challenged the growth of Christianity in India. These obstacles include; the historically entrenched caste system of India, the strong belief in the secular state and the persecution of Christianity. Although, these obstacles are formidable and may never be totally overcome, Christianity can still grow and be a mainstay in Indian society. However, more than likely it may not be able to usurp the power that Hinduism and
I chose the novel “Looking for Alaska” by John Green, because I already read a reading sample in my English lessons in Germany from this book and I really liked the style of writing the author used. I also chose this novel, because many of my friends said it was a good book and worth reading, besides the fact, that the book is well-known for some of its quotes (“If people were rain, I was drizzle and she was a hurricane”) and the awards it won (Michael L. Printz Award). The author is also known for his book “The fault in our stars”, which is another one of his four books.
