Trade networks shaped the development and diffusion of culture and economies in Rome, Aksum, Gupta India, and Han China. The Aksum gold coin and Roman Trajan markets were a big development for culture and economy in Aksum and Rome. The gold coin shows that Christianity and the advancement in technology with coinage reached Aksum and made them strive for a better empire. On the gold coin there are Christian symbols like the cross to specifically show that Aksum was Christian. The cross was a religious symbol to represent Jesus dying on the cross, found on the coin. King Ezana wanted to show how big Christianity was in his empire and the impact it had on the economy. Christianity on the coin helped develop a greater economy and culture thought
The SR promoted the influence of Christianity, mostly because its final destination was Rome. After the Roman Emperor Constantine converted to Christianity, a large portion of Rome did so as well, resulting in Rome becoming a Catholic state. After many goods arrived in Rome, from places as far as China, cultural diffusion occurred as a result. Also, the Crusaders influenced the road as they ventured on recapturing Jursalem. In the SR, the major goods that were traded were silk and porcelain from China, and horses from Persia. Silk, of all the goods listed, was the most important, not only because of its value, but also its quality, which resulted in the SR being called the “SR”. However, extremely unlike like the IOT, the SR had a disastrous effect due to Mongols passing off a disease called “Black Death”. It had a
“No nation was ever ruined by trade.” This quote was said by Benjamin Franklin in the late 1700s. These words are so simple, and it seems like anyone could have said them. However, this quote has a bigger meaning in that throughout world history, trade has been so important to so many countries and it has led to many empires successes. It has occurred for a very long time, and it has progressed dramatically. Trade has changed a lot, but some parts of trade stayed the same over a long periods of time. In the era between 300 CE and 1450 CE, trade between Eurasia and Africa changed because the empires and kingdoms in power were replaced and their control over trade differed;
1. Trade networks in the post-Classical era has seen a range variety of the established and new networks of people’s exchanges crossing several regions. Extraordinary amount of wealth and growth emerged through cultural exchanges. Advanced transportation, the many different governing policies and business practices led to the widespread connection of networks which also contributed to the cultural, biological and technological spread throughout societies.
While the Indian Ocean and Silk Road were different as trade networks with respect to the spread of Religion and the process of travel, they were similar in terms of the spread of disease through trade.
Shortly after Rome made the transition from pagan practices to embracing Christianity as their formal faith, Christ's depiction in art went through various restorations. Some of the most widely popular illustrations were that of Christ sacrificed on the cross to his ultimate ascension into the Kingdom of Heaven after overcoming death. Since the image portrays Christ in luxurious attire resembling the Roman toga, the viewer can perceive that the mosaic was meant to present Christ in an imperialistic fashion. This is perhaps directed in part to the Byzantine emperors preferring to worship Christ in a way traditional and symbolic of their historical and early customs rather than how he really looked.
The rise of Christianity and Islam happened during a turbulent time in history, when major civilizations like the Roman Empire and the Persian Empire were in decline due to political infighting, disease, and outside barbarians constantly applying pressure. Christianity was adopted in the heart of the Roman Empire, as a way to continue the influence of Rome, while not being able to control all of Europe militarily. (Rise of Christianity, 2012) Therefore, early Christianity, as adopted by Rome, was about maintaining influence in the continent through the use of priests and monarchs under a feudalist system of control. The main benefit of Christianity came from its use of Latin and the Bible, a common language across the old Roman Empire, as well as a new technology in books that enabled priests to record extremely deep and convincing stories in an easily index able format. The Roman pagan religion used tablets for its mode of communication, tablets which could not hold very much information at all, and that lost legitimacy compared to the life of Jesus and the depth of the biblical writing style. Christianity rose during an age of danger in Europe, and the feudal system with knights and castles was simply the most beneficial system of governance that humanity had. (Stark, 1996)
Christian, Buddhist, and Islamic religions were spread because of the Silk Road. Christianity was able to spread because of its followers willing to die on a religious creed to convert others (Tignor, 283). This martyrdom that many religious followers were willing to accept represented the deep tie to religion that had been spread to and engrained in the minds of the various peoples across Afro-Eurasia. In the Roman and Han Empires agriculture was essential to survival, and the Romans employed slaves from the people they conquered, thus allowing for further spreading of ideas as slave catchers and the military brought these men and women in to work the fields. As trade success continues along with globalization, the use for slave’s increases, and thus new markets are claimed as other peoples are conquered. During the period of 600-1000 CE Islam was growing in central Afro-Eurasia while the Chinese under Tang China was gaining in East Asia. These two forces grew the region economically through merchandise, technological innovations, and scholars traveling from end to end of coastal Africa. Islam brought goods from Egypt, Syria, and Iraq, Tang brought goods from
During the 1400’s empires of our past ruled and conquered lands for greater then what we see today. The world at this point was vast and unknown and agricultural reigned supreme. Societies were built and run around agricultural as were their success. Empires and societies depended on the resources coming from far off lands of Asia and Africa to spur their revolutions. Trade networks were set up to ignite globalization throughout the world. These trade networks linked together trade routes and subsystems to regions of the globe. The most central trade routes and subsystem in my mind were the variating routes that linked Asia to Europe one of these routes was the third route, which was also the route Marco Polo traveled. This route enabled products
The single most important aspect of European empires, beginning just prior to the fall of Rome, is the spread of Christianity to all areas of the continent in as little as a few hundred years. Many theologians state that Christianities spread is the indirect influence of God and the adoration of people to one true faith. Though it is true that Christianity has brought about people that even atheists could call saints, it is unquestionable that Christianity was so monumental because it united larger groups of people and its spread is contributed to adherence to local customs and its lack of new ideas in comparison to other religions of the day.
The Jewish community started Christianity, but Christianity later spread and convert from all over the Greco-Roman world were attracted by this religion during the progress of the first century CE. Ideas, traditions, ways of worship and traditions were brought along by the new convert of Christianity and it was adopted by their faith. This is through art because Christians who were once pagans of the Roman Empire stick to their artistic heritage when they became followers of Jesus Christ. Roman artistic forms and motifs and also Roman architecture were being used by this new convert to express their new faith. In further explanation, we’ll see how Roman art influenced the developing art of early Christians.
These famous lines of the Christian Bible describe the first mention of a Roman Emperor and would be remembered throughout history with the birth of Jesus Christ ,the symbol of christianity. Though his life was short and he was crucified at an extremely young age, Jesus developed a cult following due to his presumed miracles and of his preaching of eternal peace and everlasting life. His crucifixion resulted in the spreading of his faith throughout the Roman empire and in the beginning of the end of traditional Roman religion. Ironically enough it was the Romanization of Europe that allowed the Christian faith to easily spread. By the death of Christ, the whole Roman empire was connected with well constructed roads and inns which allowed the prophets to spread their message easily and safely.
During the eighth century throughout the late sixteenth century, one trade route entranced everyone involved from the Mediterranean to the Africa’s. The Trans – Saharan Trade was an important trade route that ran across the Sahara between the Mediterranean countries and West Africa. In the beginning stages of the Trans- Saharan trade many small trade routes were being used throughout the period. this is because travelling across the Sahara before the domestication of the camel was difficult. The Trans-Saharan trade route did more than attract traders. This route was an economical boost for many and also connected the West African people with the Mediterranean people.
It was a nice warm day me and my brothers were walking in the woods to collect some wood for a fire but then I hear a laugh it sounded like a witch I stated ‘what was that’ my brothers thought I was crazy and they laughed at me then I said to david (my stupid annoying brother) ‘ why can't you believe anything I say then my other older brother Richie said ‘quit fighting like a bunch of babies and grow up because i heard a witch to or at least i think i did’ after that we ran out of the woods and a witch appeared out of nowhere and turned one of my brothers into a sloth and a tiger and the tiger was a bengal tiger and the sloth was a two toed sloth, which i ran away from the tiger ( not the sloth there to slow ) but after that i ran as fast
Military is something that anyone would like to join, but when they like to. Also, military help build confidence inside everyone; something it puts confidence down because feel like they not strong enough and good enough to join. Also, when people are being forced to join the military they won’t do as good. Therefore, people need to worry about graduating other than training for the military. In fact, young children shouldn’t be required to join the military, unless they prefer to.
To the citizens of the great new country of Finklegrizziz, I, as your honored President, have come to a decision that we should allow nuclear power in this fine country. For those who may not know what nuclear power is, it is a type of power that requires uranium in addition to heat and steam to create power through fission. In more simple terms, nuclear energy is created from mining a readily available and easily obtained mineral rock (uranium) and then when combined with a scientific process (fission), becomes a clean and safe form of power. There are many pros and cons to this type of power, and I have spent countless hours reviewing this information in order to be make the best decision for our country. We will start off talking about some of the pros of this type of power, which include that it
