Only applied to around a half of Air India's fleet, the new livery did not succeed, as the Indian flying public complained about the phasing out of the classic colours. The new livery was dropped after two years and the old scheme was returned.
In 1993, Air India took delivery of the flagship of its fleet when the first Boeing 747-400 named Konark and registered VT-ESM made history by operating the first non-stop flight between New York City and Delhi. In 1994 the airline was registered as Air India Ltd. In 1996, the airline inaugurated service to its second US gateway at O'Hare International Airport in Chicago. In 1999, the airline opened its dedicated Terminal 2-C at the newly renamed Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai.
In 2000, Air India introduced services to Shanghai, as well as to Los Angeles and Newark. On May 2004, Air India launched a wholly-owned low cost airline called Air India Express. Air India Express connecting cities in India with the Middle East, Southeast Asia and the Subcontinent. Air India expanded its international routes to include non-stop flights from Ahmedabad and also expanded its international operations from Bangalore and Hyderabad.

Amelia Earhart The ability to fly in the early 1900’s was such a delight and an experience for all, but the ability to fly as a woman was always something new and extraordinary to people in that time. On July 24th, 1897 in the small town of Atchison, Kansas, the first female to achieve flight over the Atlantic Ocean was born. Her name was Amelia Earhart, or “Lady Lindy,” was born to the parents of Amy Otis and Edwin Satan Earhart. She became the sixteenth women to be issued a pilot’s license. Though that may seem insignificant, the amount of women in the entire American nation who had a license to fly is incredibly low, so it was a great achievement.
In 2001, AirAsia was founded by Tony Fernandes. After six years, Fernandes realized the company should create a airline separated from AirAsia to focus on the low cost long-haul market which he called AirAsia X. Azran Osman-Rani was appointed to the become the CEO of the newly established company. The company had an initial success by being the first mover. However, there were some problems that they had to face along the way as they were in a completely new market using an untried business model. Air India began its services in 1932 and has been operating in India for the last 78 years. It is the oldest passenger flight of India. The government of India holds 49% of Air India’s share with an option to acquire 2% more since 1946. This made Air India a public sector thus enabled it to operate flights internationally. On 27 December 2006, AirAsia's CEO Tony Fernandes unveiled a five-year plan to further enhance its presence in Asia.[7] In the plan, AirAsia will strengthen and enhance its route network by connecting all the existing cities in the region and expanding further into Indochina, Indonesia, Southern China (Kun Ming, Xiamen, Shenzen) and India.
