After reviewing the Department of Environment, Heritage and Local Government’s planning guidelines for Landscape Character Assessments (LCA) it is clear the intentions of these documents. These guidelines give a template for the production of cohesive reports that include the input of professionals and non-professionals alike. These reports are focused around the landscape and encourage communal guidance for landowners, county councils and even ordinary interested parties. LCA’s give a comprehensive guide to the landscapes identity and share valuable information to aid development of land while being aware of various values the landscape may have to offer. As Landscape and Landscape Assessment portrayed, ‘we have inherited our present …show more content…
The first stage is the Identification of Physical Units i.e desk-study. This stage looks at the combination of landform and land-cover. Landform looks at the product of geological and geomorphological history which is achieved through O.S Contour maps, water catchments, drainage surveys and geo-logical and –morphological studies. Landcover looks at the physical attachments to the basic landscape such as human settlements, rivers and vegetation. This information is found through satilette imagery and Corine landuse maps. When focusing on an existing LCA such as Meath it is important to note the main aspects within the topic landcover. This falls into four categories for Co. Meath; river corridors/estuaries, lowland landscapes, hills and upland areas and coastal landscapes. Within these headings we then look at the site’s sensitivity, importance and value. After this study you are left with a map of the physical attributes of chosen your chosen County’s LCA. This is the initial step in understanding the character of an area and will act as the base for any further study.
ID of Visual Units
This stage requires field work which enables visibility from the landscape. This is key when realising the physical boundaries within a landscape whether it be a visual barrier(i.e mountain range), a physical barrier(i.e water body) or the meeting of two areas.

This makes us look at the
The aim is to identify and associate landforms, rock types and soils to the natural environment and its plants and animals and also to investigate the history of the local environment, comprising human impacts over the last 50 years. The impact of human alterations to the environment includes increased soil erosion and changes in river flows.
Process Geomorphology – This studies anything that can make Earth’s landscape change, such as weathering, flood, and erosion. We as humans yield landscape changes

Outline the geographical processes relevant to the management of the Cronulla, Wanda and Kurnell area.
The West Hendon regeneration scheme was identified in 2001 when the Decent Homes programme required local authorities to offer residents a certain standard of housing. The West Hendon estate failed to meet these standards, and after consideration of options, it was agreed that regeneration would be the best way to achieve these. The Council’s Core Strategy designates the Estate as one of the Priority Housing Estates, requiring redevelopment and regeneration to meet these Decent Homes Standards, with the proposal ultimately resulting in the complete demolition of existing buildings within the Estate. The required area of land was defined and referenced as to land ownership and occupation. The scheme has been split into development
“So long as the human consciousness remains within the hills, canyons, cliffs, and the planets, clouds, and sky, the term landscape, as it has entered the English language, is misleading. ‘A portion of territory the eye can comprehend in a single view’ does not correctly describe the relationship between the human being and his or her
Similar to mu position, it appears that Harborco does not have a great BATNA either. If there is significant opposition during the negotiation, the FLA will not grant them a license. So their target will be to pass the proposal as they have
An up-to-date survey of the entire property which shows the existing improvements and the location of all wetlands and poorly and very poorly drained soils (including wetland flag numbers), wetland buffer, and 12’ primary structure setback from the buffer edge. The survey should be prepared by a licensed surveyor. For properties where the wetland delineation is older than 3 years, the professional who did the original delineation should reconfirm the accuracy of the boundaries in writing as part of the application. The Conservation Commission reserves the right to request documentation/notes for any wetlands delineation.
Given the complexity of towns and cities, it is interesting to compare NSW legislation and planning instruments to other states within Australia, to discover ways to perhaps further improve the SILEP in NSW. This report will aim to help evaluate the implementation of the LEP Standard Instrument in comparison to other approaches to local plan making in Australia. The first section will look at the NSW local planning scheme for Leichhardt LGA. The second section the Victorian local planning scheme for Melbourne LGA as a comparison.
Most people across the world have heard of the Oreo Cookie and have their own way they think the cookie should be eaten. Whether a person is a one bite at a time, dunked in milk, twisted apart, or the whole thing at once kind of person, the consensus is that people everywhere love to indulge in these cookies. After the New York Biscuit Company and the American Biscuit and Manufacturing Company merged in the late 1800’s, the company became known as the National Biscuit Company. In 1971, the National Biscuit Company began to call themselves Nabisco and in the year 2000, Nabisco and the company known as Kraft merged. Through the years, the Oreo has seen some changes, not so much in the shape or design of the cookie, but in the flavors offered. Such flavors now include Double Stuff, Fudge covered, the color of the crème for the different holidays, and Birthday Cake just to name a few. Since the creation of the Oreo Cookie, the Nabisco company has sold over 300 billion Oreo’s, which makes them the number one selling cookie in the United States (Rosenberg, 2016). Since Nabisco is the largest producer of snack cookies and crackers in the world and contributes thirty percent or more to Kraft’s yearly revenue. Therefore, they are considered the strongest anchor Kraft has in its entire company of operations. The Oreo Cookie is a good addition to the product portfolio of the Nabisco/Kraft company as this cookie is a dominant product in the United States and
The story of Achilles is a fascinating story that shows how talented a soldier he really was. He is the son of King Peleus of Phthia and the sea goddess, Thetis. She desired her son to be immortal. So, she dipped him in the River Styx by his heel, but where she held him, remained mortal. Achilles goes from unknown to a great hero of the Trojan War and will always be remembered.
Peirce F. Lewis’s “Axioms for Reading the Landscape” focuses on how to read and understand landscapes through a set of rules which he calls “axioms.” In the “Geographic (or Ecological) Axiom,” Lewis (1979, 24) argues that studying a landscape outside its location makes no sense in gaining cultural insight on the landscape. Don Mitchell (2007, 43) in “New Axioms for the Landscape,” presents the idea that the shape of the land provides direction to its social life. Carrie Breitbach’s (2009) “The Geographies of a More Just Food System: Building Landscapes for Social Reproduction” revolves around the idea of bringing justice to the food system by rectifying landscape and social reproduction as a solution in South Dakota. Lewis’s and Mitchell’s
Later on, in history, people began building asylums for their mentally ill citizens to protect the public from them. Millions of people were placed into asylums against their will and were subjects to inhuman treatments. The patients were housed together in poorly ventilated rooms where they lived in their own excrement. Treatment from staff from cruel and abusive; the patients were subjected to beatings, isolation, bloodletting, electro-shock therapy as well as sexual and emotional abuse. Tens of thousands of people were subject to the torturous treatments and barely any survived to tell the tale.
Three years ago, if someone asks me if I want to be a Landscape Architect, I would say No, I don’t even know what Landscape Architecture is. If anyone asks me the same question today, my answer is I don’t know what else I can be, other than a Landscape Architect.
When planning assessment you need to gauge a clear idea of what level the candidate is at to see if they are ready to complete your planned assessment. There are many ways of achieving this knowledge. One method is observation in performance or another by taking an initial assessment test which have seven levels with the basic entry level 1 being the first.
