8. ADVANTAGES OF EVALUATION IN LEARNING PROCESS
Evaluation involves forming goals, measuring the goals and determining new ways to improve on it.
PERSONAL CONTEXT
Evaluation is a part of everything we do which means its an integral part of any program.
In every program, data is collected in an on-going basis and the data collected is used continuously to improve the program.
In an educational program it is used to assess the level of knowledge and understanding of the student in her class during the period of study.
SOCIAL CONTEXT
Evaluation deals on the natural activities and processes students do both in the classroom and in their everyday lives.
It involves an addition of version procedures and designs that not only gauge students work but also help them grow in the process.
CURRENT REASERCH
Evaluation should be used as an on-going management and learning tool to improve an organizational and educational effectiveness.
It measures strengths and weakness of given programs, teaching methods, with effectiveness and value.
APPLICATION OF CONECPT IN CURRENT PLACE OF WORK
In my place of work, nurses go through some in –course trainings on yearly basis which at the end of the program, evaluation is done on every nurse to determine the outcome of the training.
USEFULNESS OF CONCEPT TO THE CURRENT WORLD
- It helps identify areas for improvement and ultimately help to realize goals more efficiently.
- It helps advance environmental education.
- It helps to determine
An initial or diagnostic assessment establishes the starting point and ascertains the student’s previous skills and knowledge. This enables the student to see how much he/she achieves during the course, it also fosters a more reflective approach to learning and enables the teacher to effectively plan the individual student’s needs. The teacher can then review the students’ progress and achievements, which improves the quality of teaching
Monitoring and evaluation are important management tools to track your progress and facilitate decision making. Carries of an evaluation can be the community of people with whom your organization works. By closely examining your work, your organization can design programs and activities that are effective and yield powerful results for the community(William, et al 2010).
For example, assessment provides clear measurement and recording of achievement during a course that provides identification of individual
Evaluation is an assessment of something or making an observation of the outcome whether good or bad. An example of evaluating is after the Year 8 disco, was the year 8 pupil’s filing out an evaluation form on how they thought the event went. There are many different ways to evaluate such as minutes of meeting, questionnaires, post-event papers and circulation list.
The main objective of implementing the evaluation tool is to ensure progress and performance of the evidenced based change projects. Various types of the evaluation tools are
The evaluation is the last key activity of the action cycle; in the evaluation the MAPP process members need to know what has been accomplished through this process. All MAPP process phases and conducted strategies need to be evaluated (NACCHO, 2016).
Evaluation is a process that is used to look at the project, policy or program critically. It includes the collection and analyzing information that is related to the program or policy and that of its outcome. The Main purpose is to improve the policy or the program effectiveness. This will also help to identify any of the weak areas and changes that need to be made in the policy.
Tests and assessments perform several vital roles in the education process. They are used most frequently to help students, teachers, schools, and parents know that students learned and what they still need to study. Teachers can use information from assessments to design lesson that meet the needs of their students. School districts and states use assessment results to evaluate whether they are meeting their goals. Assessments also are used by policy-makers accountability to help gauge the effectiveness of programs and schools. Finally, assessments are helpful for transitions. They can show if students are ready to begin a new grade level, or to enter a particular college. Tests are sometimes used—along with other information—to help decide if students should be placed in special programs.
There are many reasons why students are assessed and this first section summarises some of the key benefits to students, institutions and teachers as suggested by Race et al (2005). In order to gain qualifications or complete a course, students will be required to prove their competence, knowledge or exposition of a skill, usually through the use of assessments to demonstrate that learning has taken place. Students may find assessment useful as it provides information regarding their progress, or identify areas for further development. Comparisons can be made against other students and this can help to
Assessment is used to make a specific educational decision and is the process of evaluating the extent to which participants in education have developed their knowledge, understanding and skills.
Program performance evaluation and measurement is paramount to assure that efforts and resources that provided are resulting the desired outcomes. There are two main reasons why evaluating and measuring the program are important:
Evaluation of teaching and learning is a very current discussion point and is increasingly being more
Assessment is the systematic collection, review, and use of information about educational programs undertaken for the purpose of improving student learning and development (Palomba & Banta, 1999). Educational assessments are carried out to measure the efficiency of the program, the quality of instruction and progress of a child’s learning. The purpose is to determine the growth and development.
Educators can utilise assessment to determine what learners bring into a learning cycle so as to develop instruction tailored to learner’s requirements and to build on existing knowledge and skills (Spiller, 2009:6 & 7). This diagnostic purpose can be further used to determine if learners require further instruction and to assess if learners are prepared for the next stage (Dreyer, 2014:7).
