Globalization is the process of international integration arising from the interchange of world views, products, ideas and other aspects of culture. Advances in transportation and telecommunications infrastructure, including the rise of the telegraph and its development the Internet, are major factors in globalization, generating further interdependence of economic and cultural activities. Globalization implies the opening of local and nationalistic perspectives to a broader outlook of an interconnected and interdependent world with free transfer of capital, goods, and services across national frontiers.

Philosophy, religion, language, the arts, and other aspects of culture are spread and mixed as nations exchanged products and ideas. Explorers sprang up in the 15th to 16th centuries, so also trade, even in the sub-Sahara Africa. Thereafter, global movement of people, goods and services expanded significantly. This continued till in the 20th century when faster means of transportation were invented. In 21st century, the world witnessed a tremendous advancement in the transportation and communication sector. Though scholars place the origins of globalization in modern times, others trace its history long before the European Age of Discovery and voyages to the New World. However, the 20th century globalization forms the basis on which that of the 21st century is built. In other words, it was the outline of the continuation of globalization in the latter. Similarly, globalization in the 21st century plays a cosmopolitan role and intercultural role more than that of the 20th century which was more or less before in the digital generation. There is also high level intercultural dialogue in the 21st century than in the 20th century. This became more vital for acknowledging our diversity. In the meantime, neo – telecommunication, New Media, and social networking such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, blogs, whatsapp, 2go, micro blogs, etc. in the 21st century has made it easier and faster for the world to be more connected than it was in the 20th century.
