Welcome to the second edition of Morning Murmurs, and boy was it nice to sleep on that big victory last night. This is a big series for the Rangers, not only to prove to themselves that they are legit, but to the rest of the MLB. In big games you expect your veterans and leaders to step up and that is exactly what Adrian Beltre did last night. Here are my three quick thoughts that I woke up with this morning and I would love to hear yours in the comment section below! Let's get to it.
Adrian Beltre was spectacular last night and did something so special that these two facts will speak to it better than I ever can, so here they are.
Beltre joined elite company last night as only John Reilly, Babe Herman, Bob Meusel, and now Adrian Beltre have

The 32 year old is phenomenal, and possesses one of the better gloves in the game at the hot corner. Not to mention he has been an illustrious hitter his whole career and you've got to think he will end up being in the Hall of Fame. This man is fun to watch and I'm so thankful that he is a Texas Ranger.
The Rangers looked to have this thing locked up right from the get go, but Colby Lewis would always found a way to make things interesting. The Rangers put up a lethal six spot in the first inning, enough for most to think game over. But to the Astros credit, and lack of execution by Colby, that wasn't the case last night. You hear it time and time again, when you hang a crooked number on the scoreboard it is imperative that the pitcher goes out there and crushes the opposing teams spirits with a zero spot the next half inning. On Monday night, Colby Lewis did the

The Rangers then responded with another huge inning in the third, scoring five runs to take a commanding 11-3 lead. But, Colby Lewis trotted out there and gave up a Grand Slam which gave life to the previously depleted Astros dugout. Good pitchers find a way to respond to big innings by throwing up a zero on the board, and Lewis needs to find a way to do that next time out.
But the issue for the Rangers goes much further than Colby Lewis. I find myself often wondering where this team would be if they just had average pitching. In the month of July the Rangers pitching staff was the WORST in Major League Baseball with an ERA of 6.22. They were also second worst in the Majors with opposing teams hitting a robust .298 off of them, only Detroit was worse in that category. This team has the offense to make a serious run at the postseason and if the pitching staff can find its stride, I have no doubt there will be postseason baseball in Arlington, Texas.
I mean this is a serious question and to be quite frank, something that has bugged me for a little bit. This team is two back of the second wild card spot, and they can't even fill half the stadium! Look at the picture above, that is pitiful! So far this home stand they've had an attendance
Keeping the next two innings scoreless, Colby’s defense only committed five errors throughout the entire game.
Dodgers have not been impressive lately, only scoring more than four runs once in their past seven games so fat in June. What does it matter considering their pitchers
What is interesting is that this year he is outperforming based on performance against hitters when runs are in scoring position. He’s faced 54 batters in that situation and he’s allowed 8 walks (2 intentional), 4 home runs and caused 7 strikeouts. This is pretty awful because pitchers that give up more walks than strikeouts usually struggle and giving up a home run every ten batters on average is awful. He’s allowed seventeen fly balls and given up four home runs for an HR/FB of 23.5%. Simply put, those numbers are dreadful. Two of the remaining thirty-five batters have hit doubles which is pretty reasonable and shows that hitters aren’t struggling to hit for power against him when runners are in scoring position. The area where Miggy has excelled is that he’s only allowed one single with runners in scoring position. That’s absolutely incredible and
Morales had to be strong as Adam Polansky matched him, pitch-for-pitch, through the first five innings. He allowed one unearned run and two hits before Altamonte Springs broke open the game with five runs. His pitching line was not indicative of how well he pitched, and he took a tough loss.
Kershaw has achieved what many pitchers dream about many times. In 2011, Kershaw produced a appealing record of 21-5 with an Era of 2.28 and 248 strikeouts made it an easy selection to award Kershaw his First Cy Young Award. Kershaw, had achieved a triple crown, leading pitchers in wins, strikeouts and Era in 2011 to go along with a gold glove award. Clayton Kershaw is the youngest, three time CY-Young award winner, and first NL pitcher to win the MVP award since “Bob Gibson” in 68. Kershaw from 2011 to 2014 has had the lowest earned run average in baseball for four straight years. Kershaw is destined for the Hall Of Fame, as a batter, Clayton Kershaw had a higher on-base percentage as a batter [2.35] than opposing hitters against him [.231].Kershaw is a five time all-star from [2011-2015.] Kershaw has thrown two no hitters in his career, but has never made it to the World Series unlike Justin
The Texas Rangers (73-65) came into this game just one game back of the Houston Astros in the AL West, and they looked dominant in the series so far against the Seattle Mariners (67-73). The Rangers had won two in a row and had to feel good about their chances tonight, but laid an absolute goose egg in a 6-0 defeat to the putrid Seattle Mariners. Martin Perez (2-5, 5.43 ERA) took the loss for the Rangers and Vidal Nuño (1-2, 3.25 ERA) took the win for the Mariners.
After Centenary tied game two at three, Dallas took advantage of a dropped popped up bunt. With one out and two on base, Jade Miller doubled to score the go-ahead run and put a pair in scoring position. Allie Driskill added an infield single that cleared the bases.
Tonight the Rangers will be hoping for a strong performance from Gallardo and if he can turn one in then the Rangers will have a great shot at winning the series. Gallardo has struggled lately though, giving up five earned runs in each of his past three starts. On July 19th, just three short starts ago, Gallardo pitched an uninspiring four innings of ten hit ball, allowing seven earned runs against this Astros team. The Astros have been swinging the bats well as of late as the Rangers saw last night and they’ll certainly be confident heading into tonight. If Gallardo does have one thing going for him, it’s that he usually keeps the ball in the park. In his last ten starts he has only given up three home runs, two of which did come in his last start though
The Mountaineers had an opportunity to close on the 2-0 deficit in the fourth but John Murphy came on in relief and struck out the side to get out of the bases loaded jam.
Devillier faced a runner on third with no outs in the third but allowed no runs to cross home plate. Jacob Flores advanced to third on an error and a balk. However, Devillier recorded a pair of strikeouts and a groundout to keep the ‘Roos off the board.
He leads the team with a .295 batting average, 21 home runs, and 117 hits, all of which have been important to a Cubs team that has struggled throughout its lineup on offense throughout the year. Without Rizzo's proficient hitting, things would be even worse for the Cubs' offense, and they would be nowhere near playoff contention.
Last year a whole nation came together to cheer on the Toronto Blue Jays as they made their bid to win the World Series. It was a feat that they had not accomplished in over 20 years. The excitement across Canada was unbelievable! People from all over the country were travelling to Toronto and the opponent’s city to show their support for the Jays. Unfortunately, their efforts were cut short in a series loss to the Kansas City Royals who ended up World Series Champions. Now with the 2016 season around the corner, can the Blue Jays make it back to back playoff berths with the changes that have been made in the front office, pitching rotation and player trades?
The worry I had earlier began to slowly dissipate as we headed onward to the next inning. It’s a shame that the worry was only gone for a total of 18 pitches before they had gotten three scores and were ahead of us. When we finally got inside the dugout for our turn to bat, we were pumped to get back ahead of them as fast as possible. We were able to get one run before we reached our three outs and were thrust back onto the field with a tying score. They took two runs from us again causing me to get worried again. They just went ahead of us by two points, and I felt that all was lost. We were finally able to get the last out and we headed inside to the dugout. We were only able to get one run back like last time and I felt that we would lose and then we would be unable to go to the World Series, which is something I had wanted to achieve for sometime. But we were struck out and we went back out onto the field.
Yadier Molina is and always will be one of the greatest catcher to ever play the game of baseball. With Yadi coming into the league at such a young age, he has had more of an opportunity to prove himself and the stats and awards he has won can really back it up. Not just is he one of the greatest to play the game at that position, he is one of the best “on the field managers” as they say as far as controlling the tempo of the game and how it is played. With all of the accomplishments Molina has had in his career, it proves why he is one of the best to ever play the game at the catching position.
man that guy is an absolute legend in the baseball world. This matters to my topic because it
